Horrid disease, RIP Joe. He was obviously way past it when he pitched up here for the first time and despite all the embarrassment he caused, I'm convinced in an alternate timeline where he doesn't get ill before West Brom away that we stay up that year. Hughton's caretakership and Shearer's hail mary were brutal, whereas Joe from memory had us drawing a lot and probably just about tracking towards a survival total. The DOF bit was just mental zero permanent signings, trying to sign a lad who we'd loaned out and then getting his boat in the official picture with Remy when he joined on loan, despite that being in the works for ages before JK reappeared. Then allegedly bungling the Cabaye sale because he didn't understand exchange rates. An era that is ever more ridiculous the further we get away from it and look back. But, he did try and knock Phil Brown out and for that he wins a few points back.

Wood had his Toon top back on there for a sec.

Rangers summoning the spirit of their former gaffer Wally Mick Beale here with this Old Firm performance.

I completely understand why you'd not choose that too, but when you watch the midfield of late and the way various teams run through it at will anyway with Sean in there, I think you may as well lean into the end-to-end basketball match style and have three lads in there who can pass.
-
By the way - I'm not suggesting he doesn't play Sean at all, I get that we aren't mega blessed with options, but I don't get why he hasn't taken the option to sit him down even once in the recent run where we've had a few bodies back. He's stood out as being incredibly poor and dipping him out even for one game might have helped, who knows.

Shitter of a game today but yet another one to tag onto the "Murph starts, we win" showreel. He'll have better games.
-
We have I'm not making it up FFS. Anderson played an hour today and 71 mins against Everton on Tuesday, why couldn't he have started today?
-
YES THERE ARE We've had a fit senior midfielder on the bench (one of Willock or Anderson) for the last handful of games. The whole midfield is like a saloon door anyway every week and Eddie doesn't seem to want to change the shape to fix that. Sean being there isn't helping.
-
Eddie's harming him by not taking him out of the firing line, it's beyond a joke now. He's a decent squad player capable of contributing but he's being ran into the ground when he's lacking in form, confidence and I suspect full fitness.
-
Absolutely fantastic to get out of that at 0-0, what an absolute shit show from basically everyone but Gordon.
-
NUFC.com: PS: The Mail report that eight development squad players have been informed of their release: Lucas De Bolle, Will Brown, Kyle Crossley, Amadou Diallo, Jordan Hackett, Michael Ndiweni, Jude Smith, Dylan Stephenson. Extended contracts have been given to James Huntley and Ellis Stanton.

It's almost like all their spawny undeserved late luck after shit performances is coming back to bite them.

Absolutely incredible shot of Man U's neckless manager stood there absolutely stunned as his side elect not to close down Palmer from the short corner Fucking hilarious. Great game and always nice to see Man U denied late.
-
Alvarez at the double and they win comfy imo. It's a weakened Villa side too.
-
Not sure really. We've a great recent record at Craven Cottage, but back to bare bones on the bench again. They're a proper mid table up and down side and you can't read too much into the home game cos of the early red card. They just got done bad at Forest and Silva made a triple sub after half an hour. 2-2 I think. We score and concede for fun but doubt we'll have the depth to see out a victory.

Couldn't wait to get the whistle in his mouth with 98.59 on the clock despite numerous fouls and bookings in added time, the fucking nonce. Another useless, inconsistent cunt to add to the shit list.
-
Please persist with Longstaff a while longer Eddie, it's working so well. Can't blame him for tonight really, was the injuries kicking us in the arse.
-
I've been one of his biggest defenders but he's starting to run out of road. Absolutely garbage tonight. Howe's obsession with turning him out for 90 after 90 after 90 is so stupid mind. He's had a chance to play himself back into form and needs benching fast. Please for the love of god Eddie, sit him down.
-
As well as the pen, I particularly enjoyed him treating himself to four or five little touches on the halfway line when there was about 90 seconds to go. You'd think he was dreamily browsing the supermarket shelves for yellow stickers on a Sunday such was the lack of urgency. Great cameo.
