Would've taken a draw pre-match and certainly at half-time. Sad to be pulled back so late but it felt a bit flukey that we'd gotten in front. A nice break, time to get some players back from injury
-
Spurs are annoying, like. Was pretty chuffed when Kane left because that at least removed one competitor.... but no. Still, a 6th-placed finish would be canny.
-
Those four scorers were perfect. Told the lass early on that I'd love it if Almiron got our first CL goal. And of course the local lads joined in, before this generation's Philippe Albert goal from the practically perfect Schar. He's unreal, honestly.

Seems more manageable

Competition is high but that sounded like it takes the #1 spot. Going to be jealous of a lot of people for a long time. One work colleague in particular.... he was dishonest about it to me, the prick... but we're all friends tonight.
-
It's all about the emotional hangover and whether there will be one. Can't blame them if so because we've just had a life-defining night that we'll never forget. 1-1.
-
Was in tears by the line-up anthem, had a headache by HT and throat was knackered by the end. I just don't know how tomorrow - or any other day - can compete with this one...... one of the greatest nights we'll ever see. So blessed to have this lot as our squad, I just love 'em all so much The noise inside SJP was absurd, absolutely absurd. Will forever be gutted that I wasn't there. What a fucking football club we are.
-
Going to muster all the strength I have not to get emotional when Local Hero is followed by the UCL theme. Not thought much about the match - doubt we'll win - but bloody hell, what an occasion. Just trying to soak it all in really, cos you never know if/when it'll happen again.
-
Potter's still a good manager, not even sure it'd be redemption. The current state of Chelsea almost gives him a free pass.
-
From/to Durham will cost an arm and a leg
-
I'm getting really down about not being able to get SJP tickets and this doesn't help. And the bloody bus strike rules out a journey into town too. First Champions League home game in 20 years and I'll be on the same fucking sofa as every other night
-
Facebook (remember that?) says that it's 10 years since my Freshers Fair at Sunderland Uni.... and a reminder that they were handing out free tickets to their home game with Liverpool
-
Had the same thoughts earlier. Fair play to him, he keeps his professionalism.... even laughing around with Wilson afterwards.
-
We'd do well to get over £100m for Bruno, although the counter-argument is most Chelsea signings over the past year.
-
Mackems need to stop winning, like. Might not see them in Milan but maybe the Premier League.
-
I need to calm down, like. My lass said so last night This just means everything. Getting proper emotional tbh.
-
We're playing Champions League football on Tuesday Still can't get over it. Still have the theme as each morning's alarm. Still struggling to make this a social occasion, rather than spending a historic evening on the sofa.
-
Very tough match, this.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

I have no intention of watching our first UCL match in 20 years on the sofa at home..... does anyone know of an organised meet-up in Durham or Newcastle? Of course, the alternative option is just to walk into any pub -

I'm gutted the Milan game is up first because I was thinking of using my Italian girlfriend's family as a way in. Free accommodation, get the train over from Ravenna... easy peasy. But it's far too short notice and I'm far from getting any sort of ticket - not signed up to anything. Ah well. -
I visited San Siro a few months ago and filmed myself doing a mock post-match interview where "Newcastle blew us away. Eddie Howe's Black and White Army" so hopefully that was foreshadowing. Only other ones I've been to are SJP, Wigan, Emirates, Nou Camp, Wembley.

Not sure if you've already posted similar but this nice-looking upcoming period brought some poor draws last season (with Burnley = Leicester, Sheff Utd = Leeds, Luton = Southampton).
-
That Southampton XI looks really bad, on paper. Didn't take long for them to Championshipise themselves.
-
Feeling jealous of a few 'lower team' signings, mind.
-
Probably 6.5 for me, let's round it to 7 for slight optimism. Only Tonali has been added to the first XI, unfortunately. Barnes/ASM cancels each other out, whilst Livramento and Hall are superb prospects with an eye on the future. We're absolutely gagging for a CB and RW though.
