I don't see why not. Tottenham are just a better club than Newcastle at this point in time. Better financial position, better on pitch results, better players, better manager, European exposure, and more prestigious. It's an uprward move for a football. I don't think the boys up top will be interested in letting things proceed that far, though. He's a Geordie playing for the club he loves, 1st name on the team sheet and fast becoming a hero to the only fans that will ever matter to him at club level as well as being given the legendary No9 shirt. Not to mention all his friends and family are here as well as his kid. I think you lack basic understanding what it means to him being here and playing for Newcastle and I doubt you will ever fully grasp it either. Man, nonsense. Please take that condescending rubbish elsewhere. Footballers leave their boyhood clubs for greener pastures all of the time. What makes Carroll different from all of these other players? Shearer was here during a different era for the club as well. He came in his mid twenties and the team immediately challenged for the title. When he was nearing the end of his prime (early 30's), the team were in the Champions League. By the time our decline had really set in, the man was nearing retirement. We are not a competitive club right now. If the club's progression doesn't follow the upward trajectory of Carroll's career, he will leave. All of them will. You see it again and again with clubs and their young local players. What exactly makes Newcastle different? If you were Carroll would you leave like? I know I wouldn't.

Opinions are exactly that, opinions. I don't really feel the need to change my view just because hundreds of others on a football forum feel differently, it's all about how each person reads the game and applies that information to the bigger picture. My view on Nolan/Blackpool loss: - was as poor as anyone else on Saturday, can't see a particular reason to single him out for "being s***" and hoping he dies - was part of the same starting XI that did reasonably well in the first 3 matches so it would have been poor management to drop anyone for the Blackpool game - the same midfield that were overrun in the first half began to make inroads in the second half before the subs were made, so the argument that Nolan/Smith were the cause for our defeat seems a bit too simplistic - as a few of the sharper posters have pointed out, we made a similar number of chances against Villa but took those, whereas we failed to against Blackpool and paid for it by conceding on the break at the end. Can anyone honestly say that the Villa and Blackpool results couldn't have gone either way depending on the penalty miss/score? I recognise Nolan's influence in the change of attitude amongst the squad over the past 18months, he's been appointed club captain by Hughton - a man who's judgement I trust and believe in far more readily than the majority on here - and that helps to support the view that he provides a much-needed link between the playing staff and management team. However, having said that, if his performances continue to dip (Villa = good, Wolves = OK, Blackpool = poor) in contrast to other players in the team then his place will be under threat. I don't think chopping and changing every week will help the team or any individual to maintain form and I'm still happy to believe that Blackpool was a collective "bad day at the office"; however, if Everton turns into a hangover, then changes would be on the cards. Must say I agree with that.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00tvckq/The_Football_League_Show_2010_2011_Episode_6/ Take a look at Kazenga's goal. Brighton are on after 48Minutes. Some fucking strike like. Good cross for the 2nd too.

I'd find it hard to believe Blackpool seen more of the ball than us. We were camped in their half for the much of the 2nd half. -
Everton v Newcastle United - Sat 18th September (3pm)

They'll be brimming with confidence after an inspired draw against Man Utd. Tough fixture, certainly not one you'd earmark at the start of the season as a winnable game. Lose 2-1 I reckon. -

Must admit, I dont think Gilks had a stormer. 4 Stand out opportunities which, you absolutely have to put away. Nolan Clean through hit it straight at him, Carroll clean through, took far far too much time, Barton clean through 5 yards out and virtually passed it to him and Carroll's chance, should have struck it earlier and either side of him. Definitely opportunities missed through dire finishing rather than denied through good keeping. -
What basis is there that he wont drop Nolan? He's a weak link, why wouldn't he drop him?
-
What the fucking hell are you talking about? How is Nolan any different? Because he's the captain? So was Butt. Nolan picks the subs? I'd love to know where you've got that one like mate. Seems your just making up shit in order to have a pop at the management.
-
Out of all the criticism Hughton gets, there's one bit inparticular which enrages me. "He'll not drop Smith/Nolan/Butt/Ameobi etc etc etc" What a load of utter tripe. When has Hughton ever shown a stubbornness when it comes to team selection and sticking with players? Never. It's like people are inventing negative points about him. It went on last season, he wouldn't drop Smith or Butt but he fucking did. Now it's started already; he'll not drop Smith or Nolan. I'd happily put my house on Smith not playing against Everton. Where do people get it from? Never has he shown a refusal to drop under performing players, yet some people continually come out with this shit.

Glass houses regarding Barton really. Cattermole is a billion times worse than barton tbh.
-
Of course you'd rather have Amdy Faye. At least Faye could pass a ball (albeit sideways and backwards only). At least Faye had some degree of positional sense and actually knew what playing centre midfield was. Smith's fucking lost.

Poor performance. Ridiculous missed chances cost us. Barton and Nolan's in particular, fuck me, you've got to be putting those away. Harper - 7 - Did fairly well, good save in the first half. Perch - 5 - Caught out of position a few times, absolutely useless going forward. Coloccini - 5 - Did okay, very little he could do about both goals. Him and Williamson were split a few times and caught out. Lucky not to be sent off for a stupid tackle Williamson - 4 - Poor. Gave away needless fouls. Someone needs to tell the lad to stop just whacking the ball forward. Whenever he is in possession he just launches it up to Carroll instead of building from the back. Enrique - 5 - Dissapointing today. Got forward but to no real avail. Gave away possession too cheaply. Routledge - 6 - Fairly decent, especially considering he gets no support from Perch. Crainey did nothing but kick him, referee offered him no protection. Still needs to create more. Smith - 1 - Fucking useless in every aspect. Barton - 5 - Poor. Worked hard, sprayed a few passes about. Missed an absolutely criminal chance, absolutely criminal. Jonas - 5 - Lack of end product. Pretty much the same as every other week. Nolan - 3 - Missed two good chances. The first of which, if your playing up front, you must be scoring. It was a simply finish and he fluffed it, an absolute sitter. Ineffective. Carroll - 5 - Another one that missed a great chance. Won his fair share of headers but still should have scored. Lovenkrands - A few decent runs, maybe could have done better with a few chances. Ameobi - Lumbered about for the last 10 or so minutes Ben Arfa - Looked bright. Few decent runs and passes, though at times he had the ball and our players simply weren't making the runs. Hughton - It's easy to criticize for playing Nolan and Smith but I'd have kept the same team considering we were in decent form. Too slow to change it for me, Ben Arfa looked bright, should have put him on instead of Lovenkrands on 65min. He's got no excuses for playing Nolan and Smith now, the test is to see how we bounce back from this. It's a shame because thats a lot of our hard work undone. If we do go down we'll look back on this game and question how we didnt win it. Disgraceful amount of missed chances, two fo which were outrageous. However for me, we still lack someone other than Carroll to score goals -
He's an absolute joke. He doesn't have any idea how to play centre midfield. Utterly clueless. Whats he supposed to be? A holding midfielder? His passing is shocking, a touch like Freddie Kreuger, doesnt score, cant shoot, cant fucking tackle as we seen today. The worst part of his game though is his lack of understanding of what he is, so much so that nobody else knows. His positional play is dire, it looks like he's a defensive midfielder, if so he should protect the back four, which he doesnt, the lad simply doesnt know what he's doing. If we see him in a Newcastle shirt again it'll be too soon. There's no excuses for playing him now like, none at all. Guthrie's returning to fitnes, we've got tiote. Fucking shit.

Newcastle United v Blackpool - Sat 11th September (3pm)
Doctor Zaius replied to Ishmael's topic in Football
When I looked online the corner was greyed out for this one yet for a fixture in a few weeks there were seats availible so I assume it was grayed out because it's sold out. -
Barrack Rd, isn't it? Aye Barrack Road. Surprised there's not normally much bother, away fans seem to freely mix with home fans when exiting.

First game of the season and probably the last for some while for me. Looking like a sell out. 3-1 win for us. Ben Arfa coming off the bench and making it 3-0 before Blackpool get a late consolation. -
Fuck off man. Far too obvious man, nobody is that thick ffs

So the transfer window is over. Thoughts on our squad?
Doctor Zaius replied to Dave's topic in Football
Still in need of a striker. Hopefully we'll get one in January. If Carroll gets injured we're struggling like. Overall, happy though. -
They've spent very little this window. net it's only around 1 or 2M
