Would have took him a few seasons ago, looked a very good player, Spurs player of the year in 2010. Seemed to have took a downturn in form since then and a handful of appearances last season suggests he isnt going to get any better. No thanks.

Simpson gets way too much stick on here than he should. I'd go as far as saying that Simpson is one of the better right full backs we've had in recent years, especially considering we've had the likes of Carr, Ramage and Edgar playing there, but what does make Simpson stand out, is that he blatantly isnt as good as a footballer as the rest of the team and is the weak link. Good full backs are a 'must' for what we're aiming for. They turn a good side into a top side. A quality right back who has the attacking quality Simpson lacks and the improvement of Santon would see us come on leaps and bounds as a side I reckon.

I really hope we dont kop out of signing Debuchy as go for someone like Erik Pieters instead. I think their comes a point where our stubbornness with regards to paying what we perceive as 'over the odds' for players comes detrimental to the team and shows a lack of ambition. Dont get me wrong, I definitely dont want to be going back to the days of splashing the cash on rubbish like Albert Luque or paying way way over the odds so much that it puts a serious financial strain on the club but when its blatant that a player like Debuchy would be a top class signing, potentially taking the team to the next level, I think we've got to bite the bullet and pay what they want, especially if it's not too extortionate. Obviously there might well be more to it than paying an extra million or so but thats how I see it on the face of it.

Glad they got Ruiz though I think Ruiz will have a better season this year. Started off very poor, took him a while to find his feet as can be the case with players from the Dutch league but seemed to grow more as a player as the season went on. Set quite a few goals up last season but needs to have more of an influence in games and needs to score more goals. Not sure if he'll live up to the 10M they paid for him but hopefully he'll shine, he's a classy player. I can still see this Douglas deal coming off, hopefully we get him in as I think we could do with another centre half. From what i've heard; I think he'll compliment Coloccini, could have a superb CB partnership on our hands.

Surprised Chelsea haven't made a move for Llorente. Suits their style of play and would be an ideal replacement for Drogba. Seems a little risky putting spending a load of money revamping the midfield and then relying on Torres, who although I think he may well hit some form this season, has been diabolical for the past 2 campaigns.

Think the posts in here are a little harsh on Joe Allen. He looked a very good player last season, vital to that swansea side that played the type of football Rodgers wants to play at Liverpool. He'll certainly fair better than Adam and Henderson who are both ridiculously mediocre nor did they have a specific place in the Liverpool system last season. Obviously the fee is inflated, but Rodgers has had him in the Pl for a season already, he obviously impressed him enough to warrant splashing out when their were potentially other options availible. I do think Allen will suprise a few people this season
