What is your worst moment watching football?
Mistle17 replied to Segun Oluwaniyi's topic in Football
Exactly. I cant believe we only signed Lee Bowyer on a free! FFS! We were one or two pieces away from completing the puzzle. We just seemed to lack that touch of class that Man Utd had.....we were so close to them. Why we didnt invest is beyond me, its seriously cost us. If that helped us qualify for the CL again that season and we wanted let Bobby go, there would've been a whole line of top class managers wanting to manage us. But to give Graeme f*cking Souness £50m to spend instead of Bobby is just beyond belief.... -

Although I havnt experienced the really sh!t times at NUFC like in the 80's, I've got a few pretty harsh memories being a Toon fan. I've been supporting this ever so frustrating club for about 11 years now. The worst moments I can think of are nearly all European games- Alkmaar away, Sporting away, Marsaille away and Partizan at home in the CL qualifiers. After the Partizan game I was too gutted to cry. I just couldnt believe we'd f*cked it up like that. It makes me feel sh!t thinking about it now. Sporting away was just devastating, like. 2-0 up and just hand it to them. 4 goals in the second half. 4. When I was about 7 we lost to manure in the FA Cup final. I cryed my eyes out for the whole day. Heartbreaking stuff. Also, that Sheff Utd game a few years ago that sparked the Shepherd protests really hurt. Really, really hurt for some reason. I was just so devastated after we got that amazing result a few days earlier Vs Palermo. Shattering. Non NUFC moment would have to be England losing to Argentina in 98, losing to Portugal World Cup 06 or when manscum lifted the CL against Munich. Horrible... -
I think thats a good call but in about 3-5 games I think we'll know a lot clearer who our relegation rivals will be. I reckon West Brom and Bolton are the weakest teams in the league. Stoke have a decent enough home record which I think will just about get them by, while West Ham will pull it together imo. They played some really good stuff today against Arsenal. But never say never... Boro will be there abouts, as they always are. Us V them might actually mean something to us this year the way things are going. Tuesday is such a big match for us. A draw would be almost as bad as a loss imo. What with Spurs catching up.

Well said. I play u16's and the swearing can be pretty bad at times. When we play the 'rougher' teams, their coaches are normally worse than the players tbh. Some refs clamp down on it but not enough imo.

Its hard for anyone to say whether hes good enough or not for the PL. Hes not even played 5 games for us yet. Hes scored 1 goal- on his debut- but apart from that hasnt really done anything. But whenever hes come on, we've been down a goal or two and chasing games so it is hard for him to make an impact then, and plus the fact he doesnt speak English. I cant see his career at NUFC surviving more than this season tbh. He wasnt even a target for KK. Although I think Kinnear should maybe give him a go when Shola or even Oba starts to tire. I can see Shola and Oba starting upfront for us on Tuesday though...

Im not from Newcastle- Im from Kent of all places and I now live in Ireland- but todays result hurts like fuck. Its really depressing and is probably the lowest I've been for a while supporting the Toon....and we've had some low points this season already. My mood is effected just as much as the locals of Newcastle with the results of NUFC so I think it effects all supporters, local or non-local.

A draw would be lke a loss for me. We seriously need the points if we are to move up the table and match sure we dont get cut off from the rest of the 8 teams above us. I'd like to see: -----------Given---------- Beye----Bassong----Colo---Enrique ----Jonas-----Barton----Guthrie----Zogg--- -------------Xisco------Martins------ I cant see it happening but you never know...
-
Tbh, Id feel like ripping the seats up but theres no point in sinking to their levels. They are scum. Their not happy with the 3 points, they still have to cause trouble....their problem imo. At least we dont disgrace ourselves at SJP when they came to our place. I heard they were spitting at Joey, as well as throwing coins. And yet again, they invade the pitch!!! When is that going to stop ffs? If we did it there would be bedlem in the FA HQs.

Er...have a guess, man! FFS hes the one thats left us with an interim manager and maybe if he invested properly in the summer we wouldnt have to play players like Nicky Butt for every game!! Its a f*cking disgrace! You think so? when Keegan could have bit the bullet and got on with his job, like a lot of people do even if it's not going your way. Yeah I do. I think that he was right to walk tbh. He was going to have to put up with that system of transfers etc. if he did stayed and he cant operate like that. Im pretty sure most British managers cant. Its a tough one to call but why the f*ck did Ashley have to put the system in place anyway? Just get a scouting network going and let the manager deal with ins and outs etc. Its simple. Ashley doesnt have a f***ing clue and it really does show. Thank f*** for Totenham Hotspur FC. Well obviously he saw how well it works on the continent and why people say it wouldn't work in a British system is just bullshit!, it can!, if you give it time, which was what was needed and if King Kev was so unhappy, why leave it so late?, to spit his dummy out!. But what use is it having a manager when he cant buy the players? Unless they are proven quality and its clear that they'll make a positive impact, would you want random players that you know little about just handed to you and said "Here, work with these players." I know I wouldnt. As I said, what he should've done was set up a proper scouting network instead of Jiminez and Wise and let KK get on with things. We would never be in this mess if he had just given KK what he wanted.

1. Shay Given 2. Solano 3. Man Utd 4. Butt
-
Perfectly describes how Im feeling! I just want to get it over with tbh. I tell ya, if we win I think I'll be on a permanent high for 2 weeks! I havnt been able to think about anything other than this game for the whole week tbh. Its driving me mad!
-
Personally Id drop Butt and replace him with Barton but I cant see that happening as Butt was made captain the other night. If Jonas isnt fit to start then maybe Barton will play on the right? Hopefully not...hes much more effective through the middle.
-
Nope. No doubt those dirty c*nts at the FA will find some lame excuse about 'supporting their refs' or some complete bullsh!t like that... Just as you think your luck is changing...
-
Exactly. Sort of sums it up. Especially number 2. When he does part company I wish him all the best but for now Im right behind the guy and Im really impressed with what hes done so far.
-
In a word: No. Hes installed some grit and fight into us recently, which is great to see but I just wouldnt have the confidence in him to take it on fulltime. I wouldnt trust his skills in the market or just long term stability. As a caretaker manager though hes great. Hes just not the guy that can really take us to the next level and challenge for honors or the top 4. I know we wont get that overnight but he just aint the guy for me. Although, if he beats the mackems on saturday i might change my mind...

YES! Get in lad!
-
Aye, Xiscos already scored for us this season. He hasnt looked too bad imo. I think Nacho could be another Luque type player. Hes played 2 games for us and has suddenly come down with an injury that we dont really get much coverage of.... I agree with the Bellamy point. To buy him for £6m was a big gamble but it really did pay off big. Sort of doubled his value (although we sold him for less than 6m...). He picked a good team to score against on his debut as well! Robson should never have been sacked. He shouldve stayed for another year or so and try and win the UEFA Cup or the FA Cup and get us back into the CL. During that period a new manager shouldve been lined up for his replacement. It was possibly the worst timing possible to sack Sir Bobby. No manager lined up, transfer window almost shut and no good managers available. Christ sake Im getting angry just thinking about it!
-
Im worried Butt might get overran tonight. Ireland, Wright-Phillips and Elano are all slippery buggers and Butt isnt in his youth anymore is he? Midfield will be crucial for us tonight. I doubt Jonas will start. Geremi instead probably. As for upfront- we might not play Xisco and Shola. I have a feeling J.K will play Shola up top with Duff playing off him. That would be worse than Shola and Xisco imo but I can see it happening.
-
Apart from Oba and Taylor, we dont really have much to aim at do we? We have a generally small team and with the loss of Faye we are pretty short for targets.
-
I thought Oba was fit tonight? Id play him and Xisco tonight. But yes, if Shola plays with Xisco then we're in trouble.

Wear a small jacket with your Toon top over it! Used to do it when I were a young un but im 25 now ffs! Oh right, not the best idea then...
