I dont think Shearer is suited as much to the no.2 role as opposed to head coach.
-
I dont know about Owen, tbh. Theres a good chance he'll leave but im not sure its gonna be January. Zogg will leave most propably, followed by Enrique. Those two Im guessing. We'll replace Enrique with Riise and we wont bother replacing Zoggs because Damien Duff is just so amazing. For some reason I think when Smith comes back from injury, he'll be the 2nd name (after Duff) on the teamsheet. I dunno why but I can just see Smith being a Kinnear type of player- sh*te. You just know Kinnear is gonna love Alan Smith.
-
I'll be very disappointed to see Charlie leave tbh. He's exciting to watch and he has raw talent- something not many people in our squad have (Martins and Jonas the exceptions). To think we'd be sacrificing someone like N'Zogbia while keeping that lazy paddy c*nt Damien Duff here makes me sick. Why Duff should stay instead of Zogg is beyond me. At least Zogg runs with the ball and can beat players. At times last season he was brilliant for us (the West Ham (H) game stands out most) and he was fantastic in the 05/06 season. Shame Kinnear is such a dumb f*ck to realise that he's miles better than Duff. We've even seen it this season like against Wigan when Zogg came on and we looked much sharper. No coincidence imo.

I didnt see the match today so I cant really comment- but I voted Duff to go off anyway! But it seems that Kinnear is doing this every f*cking game!!! Why??!! He did it against Wigan last week and Fulham the week before. He did it against West Brom the week before that but in fairness Jonas was short of match practice. But its got to stop. Its not fair on the team and its not fair on Jonas... Duff offers us nothing. Not going forward and not defensively. N'Zogbia is much better to watch and actually gives us and attacking outlet on the left hand side. The only reason why Duff offers decent "cover" to Enrique is because he never goes forward in the first place! Its bloody ridiculous. If anyone in our team is going to create someng from nothing then its gonna be Jonas.....with the exception of Martins. Kinnear can say we'd be left exposed if Jonas is kept on but quite frankly, that would be a load of bollox. Jonas works harder than anyone on the pitch and tracks up and down whatever wing he plays on. As people have said though, we've just got a smashing result so lets get angry later!

I really hope its not a striker we sign (IF we sign). Why on earth would we want another striker? Its got to be a CM. Its got to be. We're so thin in that area....especially going forward. I guess thats where Denilson comes into the fray then. He'd be brilliant for us, imo. We'd have trouble making the move permanent but it'd be worth it. 2 CM's or a CM and a CB would do me.

Agreed, Harps has to go. I really like the guy but I think its time he came to his senses and moved on to get the 1st team football he deserves. He's what- 32,33 now? Not a whole lot of time left for him. As long as Given is fit and playing Steve wont get a look in. Its been like that for the past 9 years or so and I doubt its going to change. As for Krul- I'd be gutted if he left. He's a top class keeper and we'd be letting one of our very few gems leave the club. If keeping him means sacraficing Harper then so be it. This lad could become almost as good as Given, imo.

Guardian: Shearer clears way to become Newcastle manager

I'm also warming to the idea of Shearer coming to us as well. He's our last decent role of the dice that we've got. We might as well take it. Put it this way- If Shearer becomes manager of Newcastle, we'll see celebrations like when KK first joined us. The whole city will be given a lift and so will the players. We'll be on a high and will be hard to beat, no matter who we play. Its normally the way it is anyway! A backroom staff of Carver, Lee and Clark would be fantastic imo. I hope it happens soon because I, like everyone else, am rapidly losing confidence and patience in Kinnear and his plans. -
Just thinking about it, Sheffield Wednesday have a class support. Their home support is average but their away following is immense, imo.
-
Id love to get Mexes. Him and Coloccini could become class together. I doubt it'll happen though. Now, I know he hasnt scored against us this season but Elano at Man City seems pretty out of favor dosnt he? I'd kill to have him for us.
-
that may well need to be decided on in court I should've inserted "Imo"
-
The reason Keegan left was because the only power he had at the club was picking the team. Nothing else. Whats the point in even bothering when some arrogant, cluless c*nts arent letting you do your job....especially when you know 100 Xs more about the club and the game than they do. Keegan was RIGHT to leave imo. Im pretty sure a lot of other managers would've as well. As I said, whats the point in being a 'manager' when you cant manage? There isnt. Keegan is a legend at this club- whether people like it or not. He will never be forgotten and will forever be in the Geordie hearts. The funny thing is, not only did we all fall in love with him and Newcastle, the rest of the nation did.

I agree. Its really quite pointless. 3 months at least, imo. Timmy's got a great future ahead of him. Im dissappointed we havnt loaned him out on a season long loan to a Championship club i.e Nowrich. Still, if Harper leaves in the summer, I'd expect Krul to start competeing with Shay for the no.1 spot.
-
Ah in fairness its not 'pathetic'. Considering Chelsea only took about half of what the mackems took, it could be worse. A pathetic away support would be Wigan for instance. Shockingly bad. Still, we have a much better away support than sunderland.
-
Honestly, I think we have the best away following in the league. Closely followed by Man Utd. Man Utds away support is class. Always sing and have a good variety of songs....better than us anyway. Yes, they bring big numbers but with the success they have you'd sort of expect that wouldnt you? Chelsea's is absolutely sh!te! One of the worst in the league imo....considering how good they are. Villa usually have a very impressive away support, as do West Ham. How Man City fans can claim their 'the best in the world' is beyond me. Their decent, sometimes good but thats it. The mackems have a good away following. But most of them sit and they spend most of their time singing songs about us. :-[

Im tired of being depressed after so many of our games this season. Im tired of going in on Monday morning and trying to deflect talk of football away from Newcastle. Im tired of seeing everyone rule themselves out of buying our club. Im tired of seeing such a big club with some great players continuously frustrate the shyte out of me every Saturday afternoon. Im tired of everything at this club at moment but Im still going to stick by the team and support them through every game till the end. Im still gonna make sure I wear my Newcastle shirt everytime we play. Like everyone else on here, I'll support the team forever but it really does test your limits as a fan. It really, really does. At times though I have thought to myself " Seriously, whats the point in bothering?", but I cant help it..... I still bother. Im hooked. But I really miss the days of being able to go out and wear your Toon shirt with pride and talk about your team with pride. I cant stand being taunted by all these gloryhunting Man utd and liverpool fans. Although, still, Id rather support Newcastle than take the easy way out and go for a sky4 team....
-
Its decent. I wouldnt consider it as one of the better followings who make their way to SJP, but their OK. Average numbers and decent noise. I think they brought 1,000 or so to the mackems.
-
Wigan brought a pathetic support to SJP today. They had a canny good following when they first came up here but its gotten worse each season. I expected much more from Villa and City fans. Even though it was a televised monday night, they brought about 2 bus loads of fans each. Shyte. As for our home support- its been brilliant this season...as usual. They only reason its dipped in numbers is because of the credit crunch and people are boycotting matches. Im impressed with this new singing section though. Seems to raise the atmosphere a bit. Agreed.

Thats because Father Jack was in a f*cking electric wheelchair!!
-
Yeah I didnt know it was coming up either.....and it is very pointless. I really couldnt care less if England win in friendlies or not. Mancienne is a strange one. Its good to see a change but as people have siad, why him instead of Woodgate or Jagielka? Doesnt make sense. As for Owen- he doesnt deserve to be in the squad. Theres no point in having a half fit player taking up a space/opportunity that someone else fitter could be taking. If Owen can get more games together consecutively, he'll start scoring goals and will then be chosen for England. If he stays fit then Im sure he'll be back in the squad.
-
Confidence. Thats all it is imo. If you have confidence then you wont be scared to make a gamble. i.e switching the play or putting one over the top for your ongoing winger. Just an example. Our players just dont look hungry for the ball. Chelsea are a great example of people showing for the ball. Of course, having the likes of Lampard, Deco, Anelka and Malouda in your team helps, but they all have confidence in themselves and eachother. We dont have any particular playmaker or creative central midfielders. That doesnt help as well. Owen, Martins and Jonas are the only real players we have that move off the ball well. Bartons not bad either.
-
Viana was class. He had such a good eye for a pass and his passes would just split defenses open. A dead ball specialist as well. Beautiful player imo. Shame Robert, Speed and Jenas were at the club at the same time and playing so well at the same time. Viana did get fed up in the end which probably produced his foul attitude. Hugo is just what we need now.

After reading that I now feel totally dejected and have lost any little faith I had left in the club. We are royally f*cked. We've had a few dodgy seasons and flirted with relegation but I think this season will be the straw that broke the camels back....
