  1. Liam Henderson playing really well for Empoli this season. Probably deserves a Scotland call up, even just for having the balls to take the path less trodden.
  2. The decision on Petar was admittedly harsh but I maintain I was completely free in front of goal if the ball had came through. If there had been no chance of a goalscoring opportunity I don't think we'd have pursued it so vigorously.
  3. Thoroughly enjoyed that this morning. Although we lost I felt all the games were competitive. Good to meet some faces. Look forward to the next one.
  4. Already starting to look like a two-horse race. Maignan being out injured might cost Milan points up until January, but Napoli will be without Osimhen/Anguissa/Koulibaly for the AFCON which will be a big test.
  5. Relegation would be class. Loads of grounds I still haven't done in the Champo.
  6. Fucking phantom pen, dirty bastards.
  7. Not on here. And not directly. But indirectly the Saudi state have essentially won a load of real life Twitter cheerleaders with green flags in their name responding with lazy whataboutisms to any legitimate points raised about the ownership, human rights abuses and murdered journalists. The fans were so desperate for this takeover to happen that we really are perfect for use as a sportswashing tool. It's working already and they haven't done owt except clean the windows.
  8. They've picked a perfect club really. Our fans really are so damaged they will accept anything. Even if it means jumping to the defence of Saudi Arabia every step of the way. I'm not having a go, like. I'm having to pull myself back from the precipice of falling in the same trap. But we really have to remember that the ownership have done nothing for us yet other than buy the club. Everything else is just hypothetical. We need to have the self respect to let them win our trust first.

  10. Of course it's fair. Nobody has a god given right to watch every single football match on TV. If you want to watch it go to Selhurst Park.
  11. I for one have never found him funny. In fact I have always thought he was an absolute weirdo and total freak.
  12. Went to West Auckland on Saturday to see Whitley lose 6-0. Absolutely atrocious. Liner pulled a hammy and had to be replaced at half time by somebody out of the crowd. Whitley players had the cheek to vent their frustration at the poor sod when the 4th went in. Could be a relegation battle the way things are going.
  13. I currently don't have any footwear to play. Could anybody recommend any footy trainers (suitable for astro and harder surfaces) that are wide enough for a flat-footed gimp like myself to be able to fit my insoles inside? I can't play without them as it utterly fucks my knee. But every pair of footy boots/trainers I've tried have been unworkable because they're just too tight/narrow/shallow. Was getting away with a pair of old trainers for a while but they've fallen apart.
  14. There was a BBC Panorama on that very issue recently. Was a decent watch. Should be still on iplayer. Michael Calvin's book No Hunger In Paradise is also good.
  15. This is a rough guide of the conservation and planning constraints (ignoring any construction constraints, ownership or anything to do with the Freemen): Leazes Terrace is as protected as you can possibly get. Grade I listed means you're not going to be able to touch it, incorporate it etc - it's just a non starter. Not only that but you're not going to be allowed to build up or any closer in any way which further impacts upon its historical setting. Its residential use adds to this constraint as any building upwards would result in increased shadowing and loss of light. It's also very unlikely this use could ever be changed - the original use of any listed building is part of its cache and historical significance and any change to this is usually considered detrimental. Particularly because it usually requires internal changes to the fabric (which all need consent). You need significant justification to change the use of a Grade I listed building - proof that it's unviable in current form, that it's going to disrepair etc. Basically that for it's continued survival change of use is the only option - which is clearly not the case here. So any extension to the East Stand is basically a non-starter I think. Maybe a whole rebuild, incorporation of safe standing might boost numbers slightly. But probably barely worth it. Plonking it directly into Leazes Park is also a no-goer. Although this is only Grade II listed - you couldn't just build a stadium right in the middle of it. Its intrinsic historic layout is part of its historic significance. It would also probably not significantly improve the setting of Leazes Terrace. However - Leazes Park has changed a bit over time since it was first laid out. A proposal on Castle Leazes would likely infringe slightly on the north-west extremes of Leazes Park, but would also see it expanded and enhanced on the site of the current SJP, and would dramatically improve the setting of Leazes Terrace. There's an argument there that any harmful impact to the original footprint of Leazes Park is outweighed by the wider benefits - particularly the setting of Leazes Terrace.
  16. The issue with the above is that Leazes Park is also listed (although only Grade II) - so you can't really just plonk something smack in the middle of it. The original Castle Leazes plan would have had the stadium only marginally cutting into Leazes Park footprint with the vast majority outside of Leazes Park and the Leazes Conservation Area - and also as said significantly improved the setting of Grade I listed terrace to balance any harm caused. Edit: as Jackie Broon says.
  17. I think if it was down to the minority owners he'd already be gone. Clearly everything needs to be signed off by PIF. Which makes sense - but you would hope the decision process can become more elastic with greater delegation going forward as this could cause issues.
  18. I don't think Castle Leazes is the 'arse end of the moor', like. The original plan would have moved the stadium around 500 metres north-west of its current site. That keeps it very much in walkable distance from the town centre and all the benefits that brings to the city - and it would also become a nice walk through an extended Leazes Park. Could have food vans/scarf sellers lining the park as people walk up to the ground. This would also vastly improve the setting of Leazes Terrace which would look out over the new areas of formalized green space rather than in its current Mexican stand-off with the East Stand. To be honest it would also massively raise the use and profile of Leazes Park - which I think many people never even visit because it's tucked away behind SJP.
  19. A British-Iranian who left after the revolution in 1979 is extremely unlikely to be contesting the deal based on any loyalty to the Islamic Republic and their relationship with Saudi Arabia. It's pure self interest of having another competitor after spending millions to break the top 4.
  20. The difficulty with that is you simply couldn't do it unless you had another stadium to play in temporarily. Not a development you could do over the summer or without affecting the game like a new stand. Plus you'd also have to basically push the existing stands outwards to make it work.

    Sunderland

Their averages by season have actually been: 32k 30k 0* 30k They probably have about that many core fans who would turn up to watch them at any level.
  22. Can we ban these weird proto gloryhunters? It's only gonna get worse from here.
