Just finishing up reading Juve! by Herbie Sykes. It's basically a history of Italian football and society in the 20th century told through Juve and the Agnelli's. Superb book and highly recommended.

He was brilliant on loan at West Ham last season. Lingard is one of these players who's sort of wasted his career being a bit part player at a top club when he could have been a genuine star for a lesser team. It's understandable because it's his club but still seems a bit of a shame.

I like to think I'm reasonably well read and try to keep track of what's going in the world but pretty much everything in this thread is more or less noise. I just have absolutely no idea what any of it is or means

Don't know a lot I'm afraid.

Karma Kitchen is actually canny but I did love the Rupali

Vegan curry house in its place now, what is the world coming to eh.

The likes of Maehle, Hateboer and Castagne have played wing back for Atalanta but always clearly looked like they were natural defenders who adapted to more forward play. I've literally never seen Gosens defend in an orthodox manner. He's always been more or less a flying winger his entire time in Italy and this has been the making of him as a player (going from a mid-table Eredivisie player to a starting German international). It's not to say he couldn't, I genuinely don't know, just perhaps asking a lot coming off injury and in a new country.

With financial fair play you can't just write off money in the same way anymore - so this isn't entirely true. Everton have loads of money too but basically haven't been able to spend this season without shifting players first because of FFP. We have a lot of leeway because of past frugality and we needed a forward in our situation - but that doesn't mean you can't judge the fee.
-
God we needed that. I said before the game I thought we were done if we didn't win - now we have a chance. Huge not just for the points but for the morale, momentum, even to help getting players through the door.

Exactly. I think it will make a difference to whether we sign what we need before the window closes too. -

Think we basically have to win here or we're down. -
Lingard would clearly be a brilliant signing in our position.

Chuffed with this. Very good appointment on the face of it.
-
The thing with somebody like Diego Carlos is he's 28 and not exactly had a huge career before the last couple of years. He is likely more inclined to take a big pay day.
-
Yeah they're averaging just a smidge under 2k. Think the ground at the moment holds upwards of 3k so there's still room to get more people through the door though. All their booze and catering is in house I think so they benefit quite a bit from the location - on a metro station but nowhere near any other pubs really - bigger attendances are a multiplier in terms of income.

So far we've literally appointed/signed entirely ex and current Burnley staff What a way to deal with an unlimited budget.
-
Other way around. Started out not being able to get a game because he didn't offer what Conte wanted and was close to leaving in January. In the end however he changed his game to play in a midfield 3 and was a regular second half of the Scudetto season.
-
The one position we don't need to strengthen immediately is right back/right wing back.
-
Reeks a bit of another Julio Arca type move to boost crowds and the image of the club. Not that it's necessarily a bad idea if they think he's also a good coaching appointment.
-
They're the only full-time team in the NPL as well. They've been underperforming all season when you judge it by that.
-
Mitro is on course for about 50 goals this season
-
The team is doomed imo. I'd just plan for the Championship.
-
He's not though really. Atalanta play with wing backs and a back 3. The wing backs are basically wide players the way they play. Hence the excellent goal record he has. Germany also switched to a back 3 to accommodate him when his form was too good to ignore. Fantastic player but like I say orthodox left back would basically be trying him in a new position.
-
I don't think I've ever seen Gosens play left back in a back four for what it's worth. So it would mean playing 3 at the back. He's also currently injured still.
