Halcyon days on the Butt/Smith duet

Last time in the championship we didn't have Colback in midfield. Aye, we had Alan Smith Unfortunately for us right now, Smith back then is a hell of a lot better player than Colback now, and Smith was certainly no world beater. Smith was ten times better than Colback man. No question. Especially in this league. You think opposition mids are more worried about Colback than they were Smith?! At least Smith had the athleticism to win headers and run them down, and at least force them into errors. Colback doesn't phase them one bit. Not having that like he was about as mobile as a double decker. Bus or chocolate, just curious. Obviously. You rascal, i've got one in the fridge and now i fancy it. What type of fridge - double decker?

I think the concerns expressed are legitimate and I appreciate we should always be the best we can be in the league we are in, though personally I see no glory in a paper trophy but it would be nice. The thing that stops me from worrying is that the man has the talent and more importantly the capacity to learn from mistakes and if the same issues are coming another quarter of the way in then I'll be more concerned. We haven't had that in a decade; just boorish, narrow minded oafs that we've been told to get behind and put our faith in.

All that big club debate nonsense is all well and good and we are a huge club. We've been run for the past decade like Rushden and diamonds however, and should see the progress towards the big club potential as a sliding scale rather than a flick switch. In plenty happy in the league with manager that gets things wrong over ones that get nothing right and don't admit to it.

We're too conservative at home but then again I don't think we're blessed with such attacking talent that it's beyond the system that for the most part has worked. Needs time and resources to troubleshoot in the new year

People are right in the sense that we are a far cry from premier league mainstay quality but the man has made some savvy acquisitions, has the window coming up and the credentials/rationale to back his own decisions. Some of these comments smack of impatience. We were dumped here with good reason and this is very much a rebuild.

Don't really see what the fuss is about to be honest. Never good to lose at home but losing your talismanic player is always going to mean tricky implications. Hopefully with Jan ahead Rafa will be pushing to address that. Come on mike you twat.

There's more weight to saying SP had something to do with Rafa being here than not - by virtue of their goal being met, them explaining the expectations they have of a manager and how morphing into AO has held the club to account. Who cares TBH whether pardew was scared off or just wanted ego massaged - it made him look for the out door. Who cares if it didn't directly bring Rafa here - it nailed it to the mast that talentless yes men aren't to be tolerated. It would seem we were approached by Rafa by sections of our fans having the boldness to spell out that we match the ambitions of the best.
