I thought we controlled the midfield throughout the second half yesterday to be honest.
-
Thought Anderson was one of our better players yesterday, was comfortable in everything he did, and certainly wasn't bad by any stretch.
-
I said before the season started that I'd be happy with 6 points or above from the first five fixtures and we got that. We now move on to an easier run of games in which we can hopefully climb the table.

Failing to get excited for this as I have to work during most of the game

Haydn right now...
-
I completely forgot about him, but honestly he doesn't even deserve to be on the list
-
If I had to put it in a list, I'd probably go like this (In my lifetime) Shearer Wilson Cisse Ba Isak Carroll Remy Perez Martins Rondon Gayle Wood Best Lovenkrands Joselu Riviere
-
Where do you guys rank Wilson in our Premier League list of strikers? I'm too young to remember Ferdinand or Cole but I think he's second behind Shearer for me.

That defending from Martinez is so poor

I'm not disagreeing with that for what it's worth, we're a top 7 club now so expectations need to be higher, but it's more the fact that the feeling of ecstasy that would normally have accompanied a win last season, hasn't been here today. Like I said its not a criticism, it's just something I noticed and it's something that will probably happen more and more and we'll have to get used to if we ever get as successful as say a Man City, but man does that feel souless.

Bit of a side note, but I find it interesting how the fan base and this forum has changed over the last year or so, this isn't a criticism, or a compliment, it's just something I've noticed. A year ago this place would have been absolutely buzzing after that result today, a hard fought win against a good side in a very dogged display, everyone would have been ecstatic and the overall mood joyous, but it hasn't felt like that today, today there seems to be much more critique and dismissiveness towards the performance, with people immediately being critical/skeptical of players performances etc. Now normally that would happen eventually, but it wouldn't be in the immediate aftermath of the game, it'd be the following day, or later in the day. I don't know if it's because of inflated expectation, people looking toward the Milan game, or if i'm just imagining it, but just thought it was an interesting look at how perspectives change so quickly.

For perspective we currently have the exact same record as we did this time last season, same points and same goal difference, and we've also had a harder start.
-
I thought the same, but he was getting back and supporting well today I though, was a few times he won the ball back in the defensive third.

Felix scoring for Barca.
-
I mean this as a complement, but nowadays, you don't often notice him, which is what good defenders do, he's not often having to do last ditch tackles, he's not making calamitous errors, he's just always in the right position to intercept the ball, or to ease a player off a ball.

My man of the match today, while he obviously has his deficiencies going forward, defensively he was a rock today, and was our best defender.

Bet the Welsh police love the fact that Cardiff vs Swansea is on at 8pm on a Saturday night

Wasn't a clean performance, the first half was a bit of a scrap, but bar that one Wissa chance, I don't think Brentford did anything that particularly bothered us, can't really remember Pope having to make a save. If it wasn't for the nerves given the last couple of game I think most people would have been comfortable in them last 20 minutes. Second half we where much more confident, and controlled the game, even if we weren't creating chance after chance. You could also tell after the disallowed goal our backs where visibly up too. Not getting to carried away as there are still a few questions be be answered, but thats a performance to build on.

Didn't look out of place at all like, he didn't do anything particularly exceptionally, but he looked comfortable in possession, and got back and did his defensive work well. If this is his base in which he's going to grow from, we've got a player.
