  1. https://theathletic.com/5382758/2024/04/02/manchester-united-greenwood-getafe-transfer-contract/ Genuine question that I'm going to stick in here to stop a potentially sour debate raging in other threads, but how would you expect your club to deal with this from now? I know we handled it all terribly in the past, but I mean from this summer onwards. His contract runs out in 2025. We can extend for a year. There seems to be an expectation that we just let it run down and let him go for free. FFP is so important now and Greenwood is a sellable, pure profit asset. If this situation had happened at Newcastle, would you want his contract extended and him to be sold this summer, or just let it expire next summer instead?
  2. It's maybe worth stating that I totally agree with your stance. If the shoe was on the other foot I wouldn't want him released at all, especially to a rival.
  3. A shining reflection on you.

Personally think Isak and Rice are irreplacable at the minute. If I was Arsenal I wouldn't sell for £500m. The only thing holding Isak back from being a superstar is his fitness.
  5. Believe it not, you're not the only club restricted by FFP. £20m is a huge fee. He's coming regardless so it's all about balance. I can see some sort of deal being done for around £8-10m after the summer.

  7. The Athletic have done numerous articles on why Dan Ashworth is so sought after and what he has achieved at Newcastle in the short time he has been there. Just because he's leaving doesn't mean there's a need to try and downplay how important he is. He's clearly one of the best, if not the best, in his class.

Caicedo, absolutely. Rice has been phenomenal for Arsenal.
  9. Yeah I thought they had agreed a deal with him but maybe not.
  10. Berrada - Chief Executive Ashworth - Sporting Director Wilcox - Technical Director I think.
  11. Nope, me and Mr. Brute have had this dance before hence his "for the third time." I was merely acknowledging what he said.
  12. Another poster blissfully unaware of his reputation. Don't worry, bigfella will be along to like your post shortly.
  13. There's nothing to suggest we want you to fold like a pack of cards. You want a fee which we think is excessive. Therefore we wait. Everything else is speculation. Ratcliffe may well have thought you'd have settled for less, but I doubt it. He's not stupid. Ashworth is a prized asset and he knew he would come at a premium, especially when you paid a relatively significant fee for him less than two years ago. I am glad you said allegedly with Lingard situation. But if it was true, you have to remember we have had absolute dummies in charge for ages. We could have got £6/7m for Lingard and let him rot instead while asking for £20m. That decision is why we're delighted at competent people being hired.
  14. And you can't either, hence the juvenile response.
  15. I don't see anything that we've done as entitled and arrogant. We've approached clubs the same way as any other club would do. Berrada was done quietly with City. Ashworth there's been noise. The only thing that was arrogant was SJR's interview, which none of us liked. Keep quiet and carry on.
  16. We've faced criticism for years, and rightly so, about looking for expensive quick fixes. Now we're going after the best in class and willing to be patient to secure them, including not paying over the odds to release them from gardening leave. I'd say it's far from idiotic. it's a long term plan, which is something we haven't had in 10+ years.
  17. Wish you would sack Howe. We could turf Ten Hag and get the gang back together in Manchester.
  18. Should be going for all 3 against everybody to be fair. Should be a good game either way though. We would have much more success if Rashford was dropped.
  19. Honestly, if Luke Shaw isn't back all you have to do is overload the right side of the pitch. Rashford won't track back, so it leaves the left back isolated. Shaw can handle it, but Lindelof and AWB cannot. It's where all of the attacks come from when teams play us. At the same time, nobody but Shaw is any use at attacking, so full backs aren't tracking runs and can sit in against Rashford, who is totally useless when he doesn't have space. Top 5 is gone now, and top 6 will be a battle.
  20. Fair enough, but I really don't think so.
  21. You will beat us if you take your chances. We don't batter anyone. You'll have 20 shots and will need to score 2 or 3 of them.
  22. I was thinking the same myself. For me it's a clear goalscoring opportunity. There's no way that defender gets back before Aubameyang has a 1v1 with the keeper.
  23. It's very normal for football fans to be emotionally charged and come out with rubbish after being frustrated by a team they would be expected to beat. It was a great point for Arsenal and they completely nullified City at the Etihad which is almost impossible.
