Technically (the qualification) you’re correct. If I recall correctly the Brighton game put it in our hands to do it (gain a point) without needing anything at Chelsea which we ended up getting a point at I think 1-1.

We’d just qualified for the UCL against all the odds so I’m sure he can forgiven for going a little overboard with his praise that night. Our effort and concentration and commitment could not be faulted. Where we’ve struggled this season is concentration due to every game being on a knife edge it’s wore us out. I still see effort and commitment. Just not many goal takers. My point still stands. The opposition still had a great 35+ minute spell. Like us this season they had no goal taker on the night.

They aren’t. Probably remembering when we got our second goal incorrectly as per @Ronaldo but the game particularly the second half was a grind. Almiron WAS immense second half in particular with his pressing and work rate. If you call scoring 2 stoppage time goals on the counter attack as well as capitalising on an error if I recall then so be it. Trying to think what chances we created both halves goals aside? Remember Brighton playing triangles around us and Dunk being surprisingly comfortable in possession.

45mins… boyo… 45mins… See Chelsea this season. Second half was very uncomfortable until stoppage time when we scored twice. We benefited from getting 2 successive goals early on to lift the pressure but as soon as it went 1-2 it was very twitchy. Similar to the Southampton semi when we were technically 3 up then lost Bruno and control of the game. Scorelines really do cloud judgements on here 2/3 of that season was a grind until Isak hit his stride in rotation and alongside Wilson.

Yes but we didn’t steamroll them. Was very nervy at 2-1. We played very much like we have this season. Only difference was we took our chances. Mainly coming in the last few minutes.

It certainly is Last summer was a tough one to fairly judge as we were going for more players so there was a lot of noise especially with Isak’s agent no doubt causing a lot of it. Agents do talk. Could argue Woltemade was similar to Tonali no? Possibly the same lack of due diligence also
