Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
Hanshithispantz replied to BeloEmre's topic in Football
Don't get me wrong, I think we've strengthened our backline (and the pivot) brilliantly, and for good money. But not getting another player to play across the front line was obviously a complete failure like. Even with Lingard and Ekitike we're still light there so there was a lot of room to bring someone in before deadline day. -
Fair play to Brighton's PR/social media team like, it's small things but they're deffinitely doing a lot to endear me to their club. The constant bitterness in football is fucking exhausting.
-
Looking at his highlights he can ping the ball about on his left better than anyone else in our squad like, including Shelvey.
-
I think we've both benefited from the deal like. Wood has the reaction times of an octogenarian, but his 'headers won' against leeds was insane so he's given us an option that Howe obviously wants. Burnley replacing him with just about anyone benifits them because he was, by all accounts, playing absolutely shite for them. Hopefully it's all irrelevant and we finish comfortably above a few teams.
-
How good the deal is depends on the weighting of those performance bonuses to reach £40m. If they can get him back to near his best though he'll be worth every penny. I would have loved to have taken a risk on him but it's pretty obvious Howe puts a lot of emphasis on the dressing room to the point he wasn't wanting relegation causes, and insisted on sensible wages etc. It was probably never going to realistically happen on a permanent deal.

Just reading those quotes again, the bloke was an absolute lunatic like https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/28/alan-pardew-newcastle-education-southampton&ved=2ahUKEwiH8tug9t31AhUvREEAHZjKCHYQFnoECAkQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0zOcVHWZqA22aPb4Dy-U7U It's all probably true, but calling all of your youth players shit and thick probably isn't the best man management exercise.
-
Why would they loan him out for £5.5m like? He's their top scorer. If we had that chance and never took it it's completely insant, but it sounds fantastical.
-
*not aimed at anyone in particular If he has kids for example then not wanting to uproot them (or be away from them) for 6 month is understandable. Plus, like Ekitike, being told to make a decision on deadline day is pretty short notice. Given a few days he might have had time to sort his head out. from a footballing POV it's obviously diabolical like.
-
If we get relegated it puts us a year behind taking over them though. Thankfully Brighton and Villa aren't total cunts. I can understand it to a degree but it's clearly shit for the player.
-
He'll be class.
-
I think Manquillo being insane for like 10 minutes against Leeds left me a bit more miffed about this than I should tbh Sounds spot on.
-
Seen completely differing takes on Targett like Some seem to think he's assured going forward and others seem to think he's shite on the ball?
-
Hopefully Willock fancies banging loads of goals in again.
-
You would imagine we'll be a bigger draw than Milan in the summer like. If we stay uo obviously.
-
Lewis is atleast 4th choice LB though. He won't get game time. Richie is like 3rd choice LW? And if ASM is playing behind the striker he'll be 2nd? Like Reefer said we desperately needed another winger, but as things stand we need Richie as backup.
-
Howe actively went out and signed a left back on loan so it's obvious that Lewis (or the rest) hasn't impressed him like. I cannot see the reason we'd want to keep him in the squad? We've got plenty of cover.
-
Woeful patter that like. Like really, really shit patter Hopefully everyone just unfollows them.
-
Obsolete vs shit, is it really worth fussing over?
-
We have like 3 wingers in the squad to cover 2 positions if Richie isn't in.
-
Burn, Targett, Manquillo & Dummett all have LB covered. Richie atleast offers something different and is obviously a much bigger presence in the dressing room. Lewis has just been another average defensive minded left back.
-
We're basically hoping on Bruno being our best player since Shearer and completely transforming the side I think it's possible, he's such a perfect fit for what we need and his stats are insane, but only bringing in a DM and a RB as players who are going to realistically allow us to change the way we play is risky.
-
6. Assuming we don't randomly reveal another signing. Any other time and it would be a 9 or 10 but failing to properly strenghen key positions has left us looking sketchy. I think we could have made relegation unlikely with a couple more in but as it stands it's 50/50 imo. Trippier was great and Bruno was amazing, hats off for pulling those off. The fact they're possibly not enough just shows how rancid our squad is.

Some mint cunt.

Not sure why he would choose to come to us on loan instead of getting a permanent contract at Everton like We should have went for Alli ages ago.
