Newcastle United vs. Chelsea: 11/05/25 @ 12:00 (TNT Sports)
Ghandis Flip-Flop replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
I’m fairly confident in this fixture, as even when the gulf between the two teams was massive under Mourihno, they had a honking record up here. It’s one of those occasions intangibles, much like our own honking record at the Amex, Villa's record at St James' which makes me think we'll get the result we need. Especially if the crowd do their part. ps: I’ll still be utterly bricking it approaching KO time though -
Weirdly I saw a thing with a few 40odd year old Man City fans and they are still like us, expecting bad things to happen despite the last decade plus of evidence to the contrary. So by my reckoning it might just be a genuine fan thing tbh.

Clearly not those posters no, the ones who seemingly want to diminish what these players have done. FFS there’s someone earlier in the thread trying to suggest that the Man Utd game was closer than the 4-1 score line suggested, despite us playing it in second gear. im convinced some posters in here after having a threesome with Jennifer Anniston and Liv Tyler, would complain that Janine off Easternders wasn’t there too 🤦🏻♂️ -

Good god, reading some of these comments, really does demonstrate how psychologically damaged our fanbase is. Now for a second go back to the start of the season, or better yet after the 4-2 defeat to Brentford, now if someone told you then this team would win a cup and have CL qualification in their own hands with 3 games to play. You’d have been over the fucking moon. Some posters on here need minge bungs, as minge wipes wouldn’t cut it 🤦🏻♂️ -

I don’t think anyone is underestimating them, but much like us away at the Amex. Chelsea are normally honking at St James' even when they’re a really good team -
With prime Kante in front of it

Keane going on about other players apparently cheating with a straight face. I don’t think I’d ever tire of smashing the dog wanking, bell end in the face with a baseball bat -

Face like a chimp, opinions and intellect that would embarrass a chimp -
This ☝️ he’d be a good player for a counter attacking side. Doesn’t have the ability when your team has the bulk of possession. It’s why Arsenal let him go

That is true, but we have been given a penalty against us for a Fulham player stepping on Trippier's foot. So a bit of luck wouldn’t go amiss -

Nah they'll be sure to overturn that. FFS give Willock a yellow but not Lamptey after the last one. The officials in this country are fucking so inconsistent it’s not even funny -

Surely it should then be a yellow for denying a shooting chance if it’s not a penalty? -

Have Brighton put Diazepam in our water at half time? So so sloppy from us -

Why do they keep lumping long balls in FFS? they have good defenders who will eat that up all day 🤦🏻 -

Fucks sake all from giving them the ball back cheaply again. 🤬 -
They might be US companies, but I bet all their manufacturing is also in the far east

Also your last point doesn’t really make sense, Willock hasn’t been a regular starter for two years and Longstaff has barely played this season. Players aren't stupid and can obviously see that the trajectory of the club is upwards, which is going to necessitate some players moving on. If nothing else it stops people becoming complacent and things going stale. Something which I think we all had fears about in the early months of the season. A continual churn is good for keeping everyone on their toes and striving to perform. Do you really want a lot of players hanging around the place, who know they aren’t good enough to be starters for the team? Both Willock and Longstaff are at different stages of their careers than Dummett and Ritchie, they could have good careers elsewhere, they just aren’t the right fit for Newcastle as we currently play any longer.

Depends on what Mitchell can uncover in lower leagues here or abroad. We as a fanbase are going to have to come to terms with the fact that not every player we buy can be £30M+ yet, we don’t have the revenue to do it. As others have said elsewhere we need to be competing with Brighton and Bournemouth for these gems at the 10-15M bracket, with a splattering of ready made stars added in.

I remember thinking it was obvious that it wasn’t a sustainable run, we were far too reliant on Cisse burying every shot he took. Think the Swansea game we won, which was a slightly higher scoring version of the 1-0 wins we used to have vs Spurs when Krul had a blinder illustrated it best. One of the few times in my life when Newcastle has been a shining ray of light during a shit time though, which is something I guess.
