Agree with this 100%. Weird to most, but I don’t see trophies as the be all and end all of football. It’s about the emotion and memories teams create. I think given my age and what had come before, nothing will ever compare to Keegan for me. I think Sir Bobby’s time here is also underrated, restored a lot of pride, helped Shearer reinvent himself and gave us some incredible times. I love Eddie too (find it incredible some were questioning his position recently, whilst others have him as their best manager of their life times). He’s been incredible and the cup win was fantastic. But that alone doesn’t take him above the top two for me. I think he’ll be up there by the time he leaves though.

Hate the ‘celebration police’ telling other fans what they should and shouldn’t be celebrating. Any newly promoted club putting in a backs to the wall performance like that in the 2nd half would be loving it if they made it out with a point. Lots of reasons to criticise the mackems for but celebrating a draw yesterday shouldn’t be one of them.

I think there’s a bit of confusion between the posts people are making. Just to clarify IMO, the people who are criticising Howe’s tactics (especially away) are not saying they want him replaced. Also, the people defending Howe against those who are suggesting we need a new manager are not saying all is wonderful and you should never criticise him. Of course there are those who are criticising current tactics and do want Howe replaced, but those people are thick as fuck and not worth listening too 😃

The other season we finished 7th, which is par for the resources we have have. It’s not an off-season by any stretch of the imagination.

Since Emery joined Villa, would you rather have achieved what they have or what we have? Him and Eddie have similar resources and have been in their jobs for a similar time. The narrative seems to be he’s done better than Eddie but I’m not swapping our achievements. That’s not to downplay Emery’s achievements, he’s been great, but so have we.

Exactly, truth is we have the 7th biggest budget. The club aren’t maximising current revenue opportunities nor are they setting us up for long term success. Players used to join us because we pushed the narrative that we’ll be one of the biggest clubs in the world with the financial backing behind us. Those words ring hollow now. Combine a poor summer transfer window, drop off in form, the Isak situation and a stall in major infrastructure decisions, there’s a danger that the project is losing all momentum, and it’s not all Eddie’s fault.

I.e. absolutely nothing

The league season is dead. Might as well see if Eddie can gain some positive momentum in the second half of the season. He’s been dealt a brutal hand with the Isak situation, followed by Wissa’s injury. Seeing the season out is the least he deserves.
