I could see Joelinton going if we’ve got someone lined up coming in, it would make sense because I imagine he’d probably get moved on in the summer.

Pope back in goal wouldn’t surprise me that much to bring some stability in the box even if we suffer due to his kicking. It’s a big match, a great opportunity to crack on. However a point would be ok “if” we racked up a string of homes wins after this and beat Wolves away. -

Great opportunity tonight but we have our weaknesses too so who knows what the outcome will be. Christ if we could get a win going into the next handful of games…….we still aren’t that far off 4th despite our inconsistency, but that is our issue, sometimes we just don’t turn up. -
He’s looked like he’s getting into better goal scoring positions recently and that the other players are getting more used to him. Having Wissa also means he can go all out for 60-65 mins then Wissa can be brought on.

Semenyo, get Rhodri back and they might win the league.
-
If you look at it in a positive light, we thankfully still aren’t that far away from teams above us (6 points off Chelsea and Liverpool, 4th and 5th place). Our issue is we can string wins together and the forum is wildly inconsistent. If we could beat Man U away and then we’ve got a run of home games we could really move up the table. I suppose the issue as well is injuries mounting up too. Ramsey’s form improving, Wissa getting fitter, potential incoming in Jan. I do think our form can improve in the new year.

Howe definitely needs to be more proactive with his decision making but realism does tell me that we’re always going to yoyo around 4-5th to 8th with the 8th highest wage bill. Clubs above us have more wedge to spend on player contracts and that’ll always disadvantage us as long as it continues. Ofcourse smart recruitment and growing revenue can offset this to some degree.

I do have concerns about our ability to become more consistent but there’s definite positive signs. Woltemade is scoring goals and yesterday he was playing much more like an out and out striker. We also had Wissa back which benefits Woltemade but he’ll also add goals and a different threat. Ramsey looks to be finding his feet a little bit and Miley has come to the fore. Maybe we can bring a couple in in Jan too. I agree it looks like Howe might be getting us back to that original philosophy and I hope in the process that he starts being more proactive in games to change things. There are definite positive signs that the second half of the season can be a good one.

Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed

Like any player just needs some time to bed in and build confidence. Looked more settled. -
Hell come good with more games and increasing confidence. I imagine we’ll start to see more of his attacking ability soon, a goal would do him wonders.

Berating the lad is not going to help his cause
-
We look like we still need a winger and midfielder and we’ve spent 100m on both positions already 🤷🏽♂️
-
We’ve become Eddie Howe’s soft touch mags currently
-
Guehi and Rhodri return and they could very well win the league
-
I agree, Barnes left and Gordon right is the best option but the manager won’t do that
-
They clearly had a very good summer window and the manager has managed to forge a really cohesive unit despite all the signings so credit where it’s due. What’s extremely frustrating is we have the players to expose weaknesses but just didn’t turn up. Ironically success could be their undoing, teams tempted to poach the manager and players in the summer. Europe (if they go it) has shown it can knacker teams too but that’s the realism of football thesedays.

To spend 40m on Ramsey and then not play him is very concerning. Either Howe isn’t coaching him well enough to get him into the side or the lad isn’t doing it in training/behind the scenes. But you can’t sign players for 40m and not end up playing him, we can’t afford that (literally).
-
Agreed mate, we’ve got the issues with the wingers, Wissa injury crushed us and Woltemade seems to have been bought without any idea how to play him effectively in a 433 or in any formation.
-
Exactly Mbuemo wasn’t going to come here, grew up supporting Man U, wanted to go there.
-
The gauling thing is we’ve dropped 55m on him and you could argue we’re in a worse position now on the RW.
-
My concern was he wouldn’t be able to open teams up at home because he doesn’t have that craft wire the ball at his feet against a low block. But I thought away from home he’d give us a real threat on the break with his pace. The really concerning thing now is he doesn’t seem to do anything well and isn’t influencing games positively in any way.

Been a disastrous signing so far
