Yeah you’d imagine a right CB or right winger might come in in Jan depending on availability. They’ll know exactly who they want.

So I watched the match at the back end of a massive bender in Berlin. To say that one hurt was a massive understatement given I was already on the ropes in the 12th round anyway ? It just had to be these cunts again didn’t it. One of our good pals in the group is a massive scouser and Pool fan and we were able to have a laugh about it after. That Nunez winner was as tough as a sucker punch I can remember in recent times. I just think this game summed up why we’re not quite there yet but then considering how far we’ve come in 18 months it’s been amazing progression. It’s cliched but the players will learn more from this result than possibly any other loss. Whatever you think of Liverpool they have a knack and experience of staying in games and having some unbelievable comebacks. We’re still learning. Yes there’s debate over substitutions, tactics, losing our shape and intensity second half, Bruno losing the ball in a key situation…..but ultimately we just didn’t take our chances to finish them off and they took theirs. We need to learn to keep our foot on someone’s throat and finish things off, that’s what top sides do. We’re not there yet but we’re developing and learning how to get there. I think you need to take a step back after a result as hurting as this and just look at the bigger picture; it’s one result, the club is looking to build and move forwards which is the main thing after the dark days of Ashley.

Miggy is a funny one, our best chances come through him and he was unlucky not to score both hitting the post and a worldy of a save. His complete lack of a right foot, the constant cutting back is extremely frustrating and with simply pressure chances to finish teams off I just don’t think he’s clinical enough. He’s a great squad player, brings great energy but as others have said he’s not the answer moving forward at RW. We need someone who scares the big teams and is an ice cool finisher. My other main concern would be Howe just continuing with Miggy RW and not trying to mix it up a bit with say Barnes and Gordon starting and moving Gordon RW or something.

We’ll go into the market for a centre half of Botmans injury is more serious (thankfully it doesn’t sound too bad)
-
It’ll be absolutely horrific

Twitter football is awful, in fact Twitter or X is awful isn’t it ? I’ve kept it on my iPad to look at once in a while but taken it off my phone. I feel liberated haha
-
I don’t blame them really
-
Just in from work can someone sum up what has happened thanks :-)
-
He’s not quite at it yet but chris he’s not shite ? Is he the new scapegoat then ffs? Have a word.
-
I think he still has a role to play this season with the number of games we have. He was a steady Eddie when he first came in and injury really effected him last season. Defo no need to get rid this season unless we had a replacement.

Feels a bit like Villa coming to ours. I don’t think we’ll lose 5-1 but like you say a 3-0 or 3-1 wouldn’t be a surprise -
I think this would be a tremendous signing if we can close the deal
-
Loan option also lets them see how he adapts to their training and assess the injury risk given his history. Would be a great signing though I think.
-
Totally agree, it’s just another option too though and keeps Miggy on his toes
-
Barnes left, Gordon right could be lethal
-
His deliveries into the box are absolute quality together with his all round play. His experience in the champions league will be very important.
-
Tonali looks a leader out there already and as you say his presence already takes the pressure off Bruno a bit.
-
He looks like he’s lacking match sharpness at the moment but you often see that with a few players at the start of the season. He was definitely limited by the ankle last year but I think we’ll see him get back to form after a few more games.
-
Great thanks. Seems pretty clear they’ve identified the area as a concern with injuries.
-
Who else were we linked with? I do think we’ll bring in one CB this window to be honest. I think we can manage at left back and have options but CB needs depth.
-
He’s a proper helmet
-
My mate does this with his West Ham season ticket too.
-
Both players require attention from defenders for different reasons. The fact Barnes is quick and can finish means he’ll pull defenders towards him opening up space elsewhere. His finishing ability will be a real concern for teams though.

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Hopefully he takes that form into the league though players who play well in pre-season sometimes struggle to carry it through. Be mint if he scores in the first couple games to really get his confidence up. Looks like he could be a real player, dare I say “like a new signing” ?
