It’s a shit situation for Elliot, good situation for us. Even with the European and cup games where he’ll quality minutes I’d be screaming for a loan for my own development if I was Elliot. He can’t afford to have mostly sub appearances at his age
-
Couldn’t agree more, just blow before the free kick if you’re going to blow immediately, massive weirdo of a ref who was utter shit at everything
-
Diaby and Watkins will tear apart weaker teams
-
Don’t think there’s a chance he scores less than ten goals if he stays injury-free, would imagine he’s scoring 15+
-
Just love the tracking back work he does, seeing him pop up absolutely anywhere on the pitch dispossessing people is a joy to watch. Other teams must hate him like they hate Joelinton
-
The pressure he put on massively reduced the chance of them scoring
-
I agree with that, he’s not like Dummett who you can rely on to lose us possession. He does find the man ahead of him well, even if it’s a narrow pass on. I meant more that in the opponent’s half he tends to offer zero
-
Cash did him at least three times that I saw, and his pace looked even slower than last season. Going forwards he offers the least in our team in my opinion. Botman got an assist today, Schar was particularly quiet going forwards today but with Burn the only forward play I saw was him passing it backwards or holding onto it. Maybe I missed some forward play but defensively he only didn’t get shown up because people covered for him a few times

With Bruno it’s not that he’s playing terribly, it’s that he never used to get caught on the ball but it’s happening every game now. He is sloppier with his close passing and I think it’s a concentration thing mostly. I do think he’ll get much sharper but we were treated to an almost flawless player for months and it was probably inevitable that he couldn’t keep that up
-
Yup, first
-
They controlled the first half more than we did, we were just very clinical. They’ll have a quality season but I don’t think they’ll match the run that Emery took them on last season
-
Might just be high off the good feelings but I genuinely believe this guy is the best footballer we’ve had here, at least in my lifetime. Beardsley and Ben Arfa are the only two footballers that I think come close on a talent level. Ben Arfa was a better dribbler but nowhere near as good a finisher and not near the footballing IQ. Beardsley was an amazing player but his game isn’t as complete as Isak’s is. This lad is ludicrously good
-
Is he our most two-footed player?
-
Not enough negativity in this post Beth, 3/10, be better

Setting aside the quality of the performance in the second half and some individual quality performances throughout, this result is massive in and of itself, given the early fixtures we have. I could see us giving Man City a very difficult game, especially as it’s early in the season for them
-
Aye, I reckon the reason he didn’t release it sooner is he’s so used to shooting himself there and I think he was weighing up the whole time whether to go himself or release it even though he knew releasing it was the right move
-
And to add to that, Isak offers way more than just goals to the team
-
Just as long as it’s not Isak or Joelinton I can cope
-
Thought more than ever today he looked like the odd one out in the side
-
This lad is impossible to contain, he’s just too good for pretty much everyone
-
He’s a very intelligent footballer even though he mainly does the simple things to perfection
-
Below his best but still had some good moments. As Tonali gets more and more time on the ball it’ll help Bruno as teams won’t be able to target both of them
-
His way of chipping the ball forward and switching the play with the pass is going to be a huge creative Avenue this season for releasing Gordon and Barnes
