I would say Perch along with Guthrie and Raylor make it more likely Obertan can go on to be a good player for us. Pardew has got a lot out of players deemed not good enough, including Best. Saylor was brilliant before his injury too. It's far, far too early to write off Obertan (or Gosling for that matter). Both are still young and finding their feet. It's the first season at a new club for Obertan and Gosling has started about 6 games in 2 years. You're completely right about players coming good after poor starts. I always rated Best and Saylor to put in good performances but I did not think Perch or Guthrie would improve to the levels they have. As for Gosling, I definitely think he'll come good. My problem with Obertan is that he makes the wrong decision far too often and it's not that he's technically flawed, not at all, it's that mentally he isn't there on a confidence level or a football-understanding level. I hope he comes through and improves but if I had the choice I'd put other players ahead of him like Ferguson who I think will improve much quicker. If we get into Europe, I really hope Obertan gets games and manages to develop

If RTG was a movie, it would be Shutter Island. There's a real sense that at any moment, reality blurs with some kind of mackem sub-reality, it gets ugly in there at times, real ugly

In fairness, it was difficult for the fans to get behind Perch when for the start of his career, all he did was mistime challenges and pick up cards. Hardly surprising that most didn't think he'd make it, full credit to the lad for upping his game. He's been one of our top 3 performers in the last four-five games. As for Obertan, I'd never boo him at a game or applaud him coming off but the reality is, he's shown very, very little to suggest he can come good here. He'd require a Perch transformation and I'd say that's very unlikely, especially if we continue to do good business and marginalise him further

What the hell? Were they joking? What it was, was Cisse getting his right leg in a poor position but somehow managing to carve out the perfect strike despite his balance being wrong. Was a stunning strike

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=688420&page=23 Paxton completely loses his cool here, he's on the ropes man

I'd really like just a calm mackem on here who doesn't try to make jokes or WUM or any of that shit. Just someone who is able to watch football matches and talk about them fairly. Instead, we always get these hyper, chronically deluded/hypocritical mackems who end up getting banned for being bellends

I've already got my green-tinted contact lenses ready for the summer transfer window. I just hope they go for someone like Beckford or Rodriguez.
-
I see a win here but a tight game where we struggle to get the first goal - enter Papiss Cisse. Really hope Ba pops up with one of his trademark class goals as well
-
Love him like a son, just a hero. Next season he's going to absolutely tear up the goals
-
Yeah, it's all gone quiet on Obertan, can't say I'm in the least bothered. When Marveaux makes his recovery I think Pardew will be hard pressed to play Obertan, especially with Ferguson becoming a more viable winger alternative than Obertan

Lovely assurance on the ball, was just good to see him not spend the whole game snapping around trying to win the ball back and doing nothing passes. This is the Cabaye we'll see all next season
-
Hatem man, this lad just takes the piss out of people on the pitch day in day out. The amount of shit that must cake Taylor/Enrique/Richardson's boxers after a game... get the Daz out lads
-
Pathetic is what it is, can't stand pointless speculation. It's fine for people to come up with reasoned, logical arguments but when people just start saying whatever they want it becomes a piss-take. The problem is, when someone comes up with this shit, there's normally a few people stupid enough to buy into it

I like the sound of a game before the Man City match. Definitely get us pumped for our potential CL decider
-
Quality, couldnt be any truer either. In fairness, I don't agree he's at all like Lamps going forward but Ronaldo is all over Frank like
-
Undoubtedly true. But there are also players that cost millions who also don't work for whatever reason. Fair point, feel a little more confident when you put it like that
-
He comes across appallingly, he now takes refuge in his past by bugging himself up then because today he plays about five games per season. He doesn't need to go on, just retire and go live in the stables
-
This thing not happening then? I'm well keen, maybe early June?

Best read about the non-football side in a long time. I especially like the carbon emissions bit. I wonder if we do have the replacements replacement for every position though and how much weaker some would be with that replacement in place. I know that year on year we can make money and potentiall go forward that way but there will be definitely come a time when a player doesn't work for whatever reason
-
He's going to punish Swansea, I just hope he goes easy on them if it gets ugly
-
Raul, such an annoying cunt. I'd definitely give him a right hook when down the tunnel
-
Hmm, might have more to do with him spending money on rejects and having them in the running for relegation. I've never had anything against Bruce but he does speak some rubbish
