Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed
Lush Vlad replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
The reported fee is £20m. No way should we pay that IMO. I think £10m is too much for Ramsdale based on what I've seen here. Plus he is supposedly on big money. -

He's like a cat on a hot tin roof in his box. Every save seems to be full stretch and finger tips. He flaps about a lot of the time when he does come for the ball. His kicking isn't even that good. It just looks decent as Pope's is so bad. WTF he was doing for their first goal I don't know. Rushing out, then back, then a customary flap. I was bricking it at every corner and long throw. Pope isn't the answer any longer sadly and we need a keeper in the summer. Which we all keep saying. -
All of our centre backs got done over by Brobbey for most of the game. But Botman just got ragdolled by him. I know he's a unit. But your CB's shouldn't be getting dominated like that in physical battles so often. I know we like to play that way in how the CB's engage forwards. But FFS, do any players adapt and act as the coach on the field nowadays?! You could see it wasn't working from about 4-5 minutes in.

He's always been a bit of a reactive defender IMO. His athleticism gets him out of trouble. But he has looked a bit hesitant and almost lazy a few times since coming back in. Either he is finding his way back to fitness and form or he is genuinely thinking about his next club already. Probably a bit lazy to link the two and it's perhaps trying to fit a narrative. But he's not looked the same player from last season and even earlier this season.

I didn't think he was particularly good and I don't like him in that midfield role. But we lost any semblance of control we had, once he went off. At least he occasionally puts his foot on the ball.
-
That pass FFS. It wasn't really on and he has never really had that in his locker. The assist vs Spurs is more of an outlier than what you regularly see from him. You could see him weighing it up and the whole car crash unfolding in slow motion.

I thought he was really poor and kept trying to play on sunderland players missing the ball and spin off. But they would usually just nick it and then go on the attack. Not making excuses for him. But he seems to have lost a bit of spark and quickness. It's like being a super sub and in and out the team suited him. But playing game after game is catching up with him and it's more noticeable with him than some of the others.

Yep. I've never rated his finishing, he never seems to strike it cleanly and goes for a side foot with not much power. On his two yesterday, it's a shame he didn't do that. As their keeper looked so ropey, he probably would have spilled the ball out back into the box, Ramsdale style.
-
He was great for the goal and he worked his bollocks off. Odd to say considering he now has 17 goals and is great at penalties. But I still don't like his finishing. Had two almost identical chances yesterday and both were miles over and bang in the middle of the goal. I think him, Joelinton and maybe Hall did ok yesterday and performed up to their respective levels.

I voted unhappy but willing to give him more time, when the poll went up. I still feel like that. I'm not sure how I will feel at the end of the season. But I can't agree with that last line at all. I think as an absolute bare minimum. He deserves the rest of the season. Not really sure what sacking him now would achieve?
-
This is where I'm at and very similar to what I think. Although if we are going to persist with the same tactics, that are getting fairly easily exposed a lot of the time, even against poor sides. Then I'm not even sure I agree with your last line. I feel like Howe should get another transfer window and time to sort it all out. Whether we get some sort of European football or not. But at the same time, we don't appear to be learning any lessons and I'm not sure he will adapt and change the setup.

Abject, depressing, pathetic, disappointing. All of the above. Just a shit day all round. Useless cunts. No other words.

Dubravka atrocious for Fulham’s first two goals. Glad Burnley are going down. Trying to shoehorn ‘Hannibal’ into The Cranberries - Zombie, as a chant FFS. Relegate them for that alone.

When you said you hoped we turned up. I read that as workrate, desire, effort, aggression *insert PFM phrase here*. I don’t think that will be an issue. Us breaking down low blocks has been an issue for a while and it is for most teams. Probably why the Prem is so dull these days. Teams have mastered it. Early goal and they’ll crumble. Just need to take our chances when were on top. Probably in that opening 20 minutes or so, at a guess.
-
Even in a lot of the poorer home performances and defeats this season. I’m not sure it has been from a lack of effort or application. I really can’t see is setting up like we did at their place or being as passive as we have in so many aways this season.

Got the lottery numbers for tonight, Clinton Baptiste?

Tough week for respect the ball Rosenior. If this keeps on. I wonder if he will get the bullet before the end of the season?
-
Signed a new deal in Jan, I think. I was keen on us going in for him. But I think the price will be too steep now.

Paully’s technicolourwardrobe

He is/was such a good player. But fuck that little medieval peasant, Baldrick haircut, charva looking motherfucker. And his diving. And his shit celebration.

Most Liverpool fans I know agree
-
Not sure a player could be more unsuited to a team and system, mind. I’m not saying I think we should sign him. Like plenty of others have said, I’d like to see us targeting more technical players. Plus he would cost a fair bit and want high wages by our standards. But if Howe wants to continue with this formation. I think he would lead the line really well for us. There would be plenty of chances created for him, crosses coming in, opportunities to run in behind etc. Playing up top on your own is so difficult and you pay a premium for strikers. If we were to get a player that can press as Howe wants, play back to goal at times and in behind, along with being a reliable scorer and accomplished on the ball. Then what is this mythical striker going to cost?!

TBF, someone else came in after the heated chat between Laurens and Balague. Saying similar to you in that first few lines and cited something in the rules. Which was actually a bit grey but made sense. Basically the game is deemed to have continued as the ref resumed play, they would/should have been aware of these rules at the time. The minute both teams agree to continue and the ref has blown his whistle. Going back to change the result after that, seems a total joke. Whether you agree with Senegal’s antics or not. Forfeit it there and then or not at all. Seems like everyone is openly saying Morocco have a load of sway with CAF and FIFA and it’s all a bit crooked.
