No. But that is going to ridiculous extremes. Supplementing what you already have with 1, 2 or possibly even 3 loans. Isn't really the end of the world, IMO.
-
Think I agree with that. I'd like to see Shelvey get games where possible. But he's pretty unfit and supposedly a pisshead So I can't see him starting too many games.
-
Colback the same. Only of any use whatsoever if you're planning to have none of the ball and want somebody to chase after it like a stupid dog. Here, if you want to take the p*ss out of Colback then go ahead. Leave Stifler's dog out of it though.
-
I'd go with that. But at this stage, I'd still start Perez over Aarons. I don't mind Aarons, but he was terrible when he came on against Fulham and I still think Perez offers more.
-
I must have remembered it wrong. I didn't think the ball had even reached him when he was brought down? If he already had it under control, then yeah, blatant red.
-
and that's my worry, that he's too wedded to the 4-2-3-1 thing. Seems like he's playing the division instead of the match. (Only reason for playing Hanley) TBF, didn't Mbemba get an injury right at the end of preseason? I'm hoping that's the case and it was more to do with him not being 100%. He should be in the team if fit.
-
Tubes is persistent, I'll give him that. Every thread is him trying to sell our players for a lot less than they're worth
-
TBF, he had seen Perez' touch and knew he would of hoofed it out for a goal kick. Not sure that could be deemed a goal scoring opportunity I've seen red cards given for less. Thought it was 50/50. What was worse, was how Odoi didn't get a second yellow, after that early foul. He actually played really well after a shaky start. which makes it even worse. I'm sure he gave away 2-3 more fouls after they yellow. One was a really heavy tackle up our end of the pitch and another was when he'd been beaten and he grabbed/tripped our player, when trying to get back. Both could easily been yellow cards and I think in the prem, they would have been. Kalas not getting booked when Perez' had rolled him, was another awful decision. I think the first hand ball was 100% a penalty and he should have given it. Not sure he could have seen the second one, though. Not using the ref's shitness as an excuse, mind. We were awful and barely created anything.
-
Agree with this. I can see why he went for a cautious set up. Tight pitch, awful away record, first game of the season etc. But despite all of the whining about the ref. We created about two decent chances all game and we only started pouring it on when it was too late. I have complete faith in Rafa's long term plan for the club. But I didn't agree with the team selection before the match, I didn't like how negative we were and I think he got it wrong. I'm sure he is well aware of the issues, what he'll be changing and who he'll be dropping for Huddersfield. I expect to see a much improved showing on Saturday and I think we'll all see one.

I think certain posters have spent too much time on RTG. The last 10 pages or so of this thread have read like something off there.
-
Like the look of him. But he needs someone next to him that can carry the ball forward and look to pass forward, as well. Spent about an hour just passing it sideways, backwards and then hoofing it from the back. We created sod all.
-
I think I agree with this. He kept turning into trouble and just got bullied out of it in tight spaces all night. His touch seemed off and he had a shitter. But so did most of the team. I always thought he should be playing as a 10. But I am yet to see him have a good game there. Or if he has, I have forgotten about it. I really rate Perez. Hope he can sort it out and find some form. Hasn't played well consistently for quite some time.
-
The optimist in me thought he may have been half decent in this league. Thinking it's more his level, I thought he may have got the odd goal and assist and actually contribute going forwards. Well, based on Friday's performance. He'd struggle to get a game for Morecambe. His game was pretty much sideways, sideways, backwards, fall over, stand miles out of position. Get subbed. Absolute shite.
-
Well, if all these stories about him being a pisshead are true, it's a bit of a worry. That said. He's the only centre mid, that seems to understand that we have to pass the ball forwards from time to time. Painful as fuck watching everyone crab it and knock it sideways all night. Shelvey's demeanour and attitude make it hard to like him. But what I like about him is, he isn't afraid to try more expansive stuff or keep looking for the ball, even when he's playing badly, or the team are. That God awful free kick at the end, kind of proving that point At least he is taking on some of the burden of trying to create chances. Now if he could just get his lungs in order, that would be grand.

Should be Vurnon Anita.

I was thinking the same. Just by judging from the training pics and videos, that doesn't seem like it is still the case. I think he has mellowed even further as he has gotten older. His demeanour seems more friendly now, I think. Have to say, probably one of my only gripes with Rafa. Is how methodical and sometimes boring his football can be. What Bellamy is saying there kind of backs it up and I know former players and Liverpool fans say similar. That said, he is still light years ahead of anything we have had in the last however long. I also love how meticulous he is. I wonder what Carver used to say in team meetings
-
Most Rafa like so far. Yep. Think that will be it. Would personally have Shelvey in for Colback, but I doubt that will happen. Possibly Aarons, as well. Got through a preseason unscathed and has looked good in flashes since the end of last season.
-
I have. I haven't had it for about 2 seasons. It's nice to care about the club again
-
Fully deserved. Fuck, man. Captain of Newcastle United at 22 years of age. That is what dreams are made of
-
Pretty happy with this signing. Can't say I saw a lot of him at Hull. But at West Ham and Wigan, he always looked a bit of a beast and great going forward.
