Finding it hard to be arsed about this. I was obviously really disappointed when Rafa went. But it had been on the cards for a while, so just felt inevitable when it finally happened. At this point. I couldn't really care if we sold the entire squad and played the stiffs and finished bottom with no points. Feels odd being so apathetic about it all. But kind of refreshing at the same time.

Rice isn't quite the best midfielder in the world, like West Ham fans would have you believe. But I don't think he is overrated by anyone but them. I think he looks decent at what he does. Which is turn the ball over, break up play and keep the ball moving. As for the midfield three in general, I do agree. All you hear about is how the game is won and lost in the boxes. That may be true to some extent, but we could have a prime Shearer and Lineker up top and the 2002 back 4 and we'd still win sod all with our midfield. I don't pay enough attention to the national set up. But we seem really weak with a load of 'much of a muchness' options in the middle.

I tell you what. I kind of admire Stones. He keeps fucking up and overplaying in dodgy areas. But he always seems happy to keep doing it week in, week out

I hadn't paid much attention to next season's kits, other than some early leaks. These are all absolutely rancid. That home kit, especially. The orange one is a rascal bit of gear, so I can at least give it a pass. The home shirt is one of the worst I can remember for a long time.

Alan Smith is right up there in recent times. I mean obviously there are far worse that played here and there. But I remember him playing a fair few games and being first choice at one point. So it always stands out in your mind more.

I used to be a bit petty about Liverpool. A lot of my mate's support them and it used to annoy me when they constantly hammered us I always bought into the generalisations regarding their fans, even though a lot of the people I know that support them are not like that. Which I think it a poor thing to do. As we all know, according to other club's fans, we expect to challenge for trophies and be in the CL every season I don't know if they actually have become a bit more bearable since going on a 'losing' run by their standards. I'm not sure if it is the Rafa connection, or the fact that Klopp and his teams are just such great fun. All of the above, maybe. I actually quite like them now. Prefer them to the other top teams in the country.

Worst overall in my recent memory/lifetime is probably Riviere. Absolutely useless. Ability wise when we had him, Kuqi is up there. Played like he'd had a couple of hip ops and chronic arthritis. Most disliked and biggest waste of money is Owen. Didn't like the signing from the get go and I detest the little rat.

If Rafa stays (LOL) and wants to persist with playing wing backs. Then these are the positions that need addressing the most. Even if he reverts to a back 4. We still don’t have good enough options there. We need to spend big (DOUBLE LOL) on at least one decent full back. Always liked Yedlin. But the same as Ritchie, he puts in a lot of effort and has the odd good game or moment. But neither are good enough.

So if they win the Dulux Gloss trophy or whatever it’s called. Are they going to claim that as a recent success and major cup win? Our two Championship titles and Fairs Cup are still shite and don’t count, of course.

It’s soft, but also daft from Fernandez. I don’t actually mind if penalties are given for shirt/arm pulling, holding etc. What I can’t have. Is Dean not returning the favour for one that was as much of a pen on Rondon. Or the most blatant one of the lot, where Yedlin was wiped out. Yedlin got away with a similar one last week on Digne and I feel like if he didn’t spoon his cross. It would have been a more obvious foul. All that said. Love the look of this lad. Doesn’t look like he’s got loads of skills, or perhaps the dribbling skills of top level wingers. But he is rapid, direct, makes some intelligent runs off the ball and generally gets in good positions. His passing and how tidy with the ball he is, have been what’s impressed me most. As I didn’y expect that at all. Not this early on, at least. Reminds me of a Playmobil man for some reason.

True that. I’m still a big fan of Shelvey. But he’s not the most mobile or disciplined. Ki is just painfully slow and Diame is always up and down. But he’s pretty erratic. Still can’t believe how this stumbled upon pairing is working so well.

Outstanding tonight. Didn’t really make a mistake. Heaton is a decent keeper and well thought of. Didn’t have a bad game or anything, but looked unsure and shaky in comparison.

Loved him being so dominant against that whining shitcunt of a human, Ashley Barnes. He spends all game kicking and elbowing people, then abusing the ref when he dares give a foul against him. He was worse than usual on the ball tonight. But if it wasn't for him being so wasteful, he'd be up there in the MOTM conversation, IMO. He does all the nitty-gritty stuff so well. Good in the air, covers a lot of ground and he's quite fast with that long stride. Was pressing high up, getting stuck in and just breaking play up all over. Compliments Longstaff, who is far more leggy and slow. But obviously miles better in possession. Where has this pairing come from?!
