A striker / winger who has played more on the left hand side. Wasn't it barnetta who was said to be barons replacement earlier in the summer? He's played on the right wing for us in both his games so far. There is no way Ashley will go out and spend £5m on Barnetta having just spent £3.5m on Obertan. He played right wing for just over a half vs Arsenal. #pedant

His baggage is hardly a burden on us now though. And we'll not replace him on a free thats for sure. Really so his Twitter statements aren't an issue then? Or the controversy in the arsenal game where his actions got the club fined? If he does sign for them I am really looking forward to his tweets regarding our club His twitter statements were hardly damaging to the club, Mike Ashley's stupid idea of transfer listing him for free however is. And the club was fined (did we win the appeal or not?) because other players got involved, not because Joey Barton picked a player up by his shirt. It's a bit shady when folk are slamming him for a yellow card offence during a game like. That last bit is only your opinion. Graham poll said he would have sent him off for it. Is he shady too then? No, but he's an attention seeking media whore and a shit ref to boot. I also remember from numerous Setanta games, he hates Joey Barton.

I don't think anyone is convinced he wants to leave. Fat Ash and Llambias are ruthless and Joey has a massive ego, sadly I could never see a compromise
-
Not necessarily, Colo's hasn't caused trouble and Shola has just got a new 3 year contract, Colo could easily do the same, and unlike Nolan you can see Colo playing well for the next few years. Isn't he rumoured to be on between £60k-£80k a week, can't see us offering similar terms.

Not looking forward to next season when we go through all this shit again with Colo

Joey looks well happy in that picture

Maybe Pardew wants to play with two genuine wingers and thinks Joey on the bench will be bad news. Not going to get in ahead of Tiote and Cabaye and not direct or quick enough to play as an out and out winger. Still need a squad though and cover for when Cheik is suspended or away at the ACN. Cabaye looks like he'll get a few cards as well. Gosling and Guthrie as back up isn't the end of the world, but Joey is a far superior player to them two. Plus it means Smith is closer to the first team

Out for 2 months. Oh. Thought it was about 5-6 weeks and that was about 3-4 weeks ago?
-
If it meant us getting Barnetta, then it would soften the blow and I would wager he would end up being a more effective player for us. Cannot see it happening though. Do love Joey though, so will be hard to see him go

Can't compare the two. No, but Ashley can. Both central midfielders, both right footed. One is on big money, is getting near 30 and is a bit of a nuisance. The other 22/23, not on big money and is as quiet as a mouse. Makes sense from the owners point of view

Didn't AP say he has a 'minor foot problem' or is he lying again If he is being rested for tommorrow because of a knock, perhaps they're not risking him in training until later in the week?
-
Very good point. See him at the races quite often as I live in Newmarket. Always at Tattersalls (horse sales) as well. I believe he also recently bought some stables in Thetford and has horses in training with two or three different trainers now, all Newmarket based. Would be stupid to go to QPR because of horses, though. He's a football player and his career will have ended in 5, 6 or 7 years time and than he can sleep in a stable if he wants. Financial security of a fairly long contract on half decent money., being the main man in the team again, closer to one of his passions. Not saying he'd go there and I don't think he will, but there are a lot of reasons why he would IMO. Also quite a few why he wouldn't, hence why I don't think he will go to QPR.

Says a lot about him if he goes there. Too much baggage for a top club to want him or just not good enough. Personally think he is good enough for a top 6-8 team, but none of the top teams have come in for him and all his comments will look rather silly if he goes somewhere like QPR. Just can't see him going there mind.

But still not agreed fee with Lyon.... WE ARE GETTING REPORTED AGAIN? Do they not sometimes give permission before a fee has been agreed?
-
 TBF, not a million miles away from what he said yesterday (in today's papers). He's gradually becoming more neagtive about it all, this will be his next set of comments. Very good whoosh
-
Hopefully he's just getting in some precautionary excuses. Doesn't make good reading that, he has been gradually becoming less positive about getting players in as the days go by. Bit worrying.

I was at Creamfields, was great news when I got a few texts saying that Ben Arfa had signed Still quietly confident we will get another 1 or 2 in......
-
Brilliant

Fucking hell Shane Long has got two in two. He's looked pretty impressive yes, but let's wait until the end of the season before we start crying that we didn't sign him. Amir Zaki scored a ridiculous amount of goals in his first 10 or so games in this league. Looked real quality as well, I'm not even sure where he plays his football these days

Ha, forgot about the Scunny game!

There is a scheduled press conference this afternoon, or you are just hoping for one??? Thought it was usually 2pm on a Thursday.

I think that f***er needs to tinker with his hearing aid because I was there and can confirm our fans sung for more or less the full 90 minutes (MOTD and Football First corroborate this as all you can hear is our lot). The loudest noise from the home support came when Webb gave a corner rather than a penalty. "Ah but you see the pitchside mics are not positioned near the magnificent SWC, they're nearer the away end. So it picks up all the chanting from the away end, not our lot, even though we were twice as loud as you. It's the Magedia again, FTM, 9-1" - Some mackem twat off SMB (I may have made this up) They've got a ready made excuse/lie for everything Mag related, fucking embarrassing :-[ Speaking of the 9-1, when they were giving us abuse, most responded with the 5-1 hand signals, seemed to wind them up a bit. Had at least 3 or 4 charvas hold 9 webbed fingers up in response Anyone see the 3 or 4 fit birds in the executive boxes?
-
They talk some shite like. They were pretty loud in the first half, and TBF did respond out a few of our songs well. Hardly 'drowned' us out mind Second half I didn't hear a peep out of the famous, fantastic, world renowned SWC. Outsung them all half and I don't remember them singing after the goal went in. If they feel better now they've convinved themselves they won the singing contest, the Larsson pen was ball to hand and they played us off the park, then good for them. Did they not notice the big fuck off scoreboard that read sunderland 0-1 Newcastle
