Not necessarily the best footballing performance on the ball. But all things considered, that is our best performance of the season. Tactics were spot on. Everyone played their part and we limited a high powered attack to basically just Timo Werner doing his usual a few times and shanking it.

Can’t help but love McCoist. Not a lot of insight. But he just loves the game. So enthusiastic about everything. He really is. It really does etc.

Perfect game plan so far. Sit deep, play on the break. They have had two good chances. But I feel like we should have them dead and buried and 2-0 has me nervous. They’ll be all guns blazing now and we’ll understandably start to tire. With no options on the bench.

I think Barnes will be on the left. So Howe might want the insurance of Burn behind him. Not exactly a great choice. But I think I’d rather Krafth against Johnson than Burn and leave BDB in a position where he has been playing so well.

I think we would be far better off with Burn at CB than LB. His last two games have arguably been his best of the season. So I hope he stays there.

He also made a couple of outstanding stops due to how quick he was off his line. Filled in really well as their number 2. Especially when you consider he’s coming in in place of possibly the best keeper in world football. The drop off hasn’t been too bad. Compare and contrast with what we’ve had.

Week and a half break after this and all. Maybe we can get 2-3 players back for Palace.

Had a few Liverpool fans talk about booking Dublin. That was a good while ago and all. Whoops. You wonder if this could fuck the league for them and all. Arsenal suddenly looked a bit vulnerable against Bayern. City conceding 3 against Madrid. But nothing as damaging as this. They’ve been dismantled and could/should be more than 3 down.

You almost have to admire Gomez. Never scored a senior goal in his career. But will that stop him trying a few outrageous shots from miles out every game? Will it fuck.

I’ve been harsh on him this season. A lot of it is the same complaints as last season. Touch under pressure is poor, bad on the turn, unconvincingly dives and then sets teams on counters. Probably more I’ve given him shit for. I just generally don’t think he is a very good footballer. Even if he was a quality system player last season. I have said numerous times he is clearly pretty fucked, though. As all the good things he brought last season have gone. He doesn’t tackle or get about the pitch as well. Or even if he is getting about. He doesn’t put pressure on the ball and make challenges like last season. I didn’t think the injury would be quite so bad, mind. Or that it is actually two separate injuries. So it’s hardly surprising he’s looked so poor. Fair play to him for powering through. I haven’t looked back through. But I’m sure we did have a few times where we had options on the bench and possibly even to start. But he still played 90. That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. As he has (understandably) consistently been one of our worst players for months.

I think it was Dominguez who played DM who really impressed me a couple of times this season for Forest. But he’s been out the team, I think. So probably way off there. Gibbs-White looks great. But he’d cost a bomb.

Donarumma is shite.

It could make for some mad drama and chess matches. But depending on the way ties went. It could also make games incredibly dull and one way traffic. Personally glad they got rid of it.

He is and it’s sad to see. Loved him since he started going nuts at Dortmund and really followed him since. Purely just because my Grandad was Polish. Still bagging and getting assists fairly frequently. But it was a weird transfer at the time. He was probably on his way down when he left Bayern. Was one of the most dominant 9s I can remember watching. Outrageous goal ratio and his all round game is/was better than he’s given credit for.

Yamal is going to get the Pedri and Gavi treatment, isn’t he? Always looks class the few times I’ve seen him. But he’ll just get ran into the ground.

Great goal (again). As if Dembele has only scored 2 goals for PSG. That’s a terrible return in such a dominant team playing in a fairly weak league.
