Genuinely i have joked about doing that podcast. I recommend Screen Rot podcast on the High Performance Pod for ripping into it.
-
I appreciated Humphreys sometimes he did that, but also there was a time on bt sport champions league coverage where he got confused about (AC) Milan and Inter and I was wondering how you do that on that stage...also I can't stand the concept of the high performance podcast....I get it, sometimes, but some of us don't want to wake up at 5am, some of us are quite content with mediocre peformance to be honest
-
Yes. There really should be some rules as to how many players clubs can sign. There is so much stockpiling going on, it's driving prices up and up and making it impossible for clubs to compete.
-
I don't disagree, he's just still in the benefit of the doubt area for me. Henderson tho...
-
I mean what do people expect from fixtures after long grueling league season? I dunno anyone would have sparked a stirring performance On the other hand this does all feel like classic FA overreaction signing. Southgate was hired and kept on on vibes (and also results, it's just when we get to a final we were always by far the worse team). But FA are like hmmmmm can't go all the way with a common garden vibesman. Need to sign a super intelligent systems manager who wants to instill modern posession football. Only that's really tough thing to do with a rotating cast of players who barely spend any time together. Also don't get me wrong, Tuchel could well be that perfect balancing manager in the middle whom can instill good vibes in the camp, get the players delivering their best on the pitch, and also tactically competent to know that TAA is not a fucking defensive mid. I do think though he has a long way to go in only a year before the world cup tho
-
RIP, what a player he was
-
Oh I know you are right, and perfectly capable of being effective and attractive, just the phrase double pivot gives me flashbacks, and I hated how we lined up for so long with 2 defensive(ish) mids totally detached from the attacking players almost just as a default formation.
-
Genuinely hate the double pivot, i hate the name, i hate the boring 4-2-3-1s it produces that are actually 4-5-1s cos there are no old fashioned number 10s anymore anyway and I dont even think it makes sense anyway.
-
If 60m is too much for single players we either better be all moneyball shit and be recruiting from outside the league or we need to be forgetting about competing at the top. Maybe mbueno isn't worth it, i can believe if he's had over performed fair enough but if we have ambition and want proven players it will cost
-
20 goal a season winger for 60m? Easy decision imo bid bid bid
-
Can't believe they haven't even discussed changing psr to end the encouraging of sales of home grown players. Regardless of the rest of it being a mess it's disgraceful to the fans to see all of 'their own' being shipped off for this reason. The league should be encouraging clubs to play more homegrown players...
-
Yes. I think it is healthy for a champions league club with resources to have 4 top quality midfielders (i.e. Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, New Signing)+ young ones hoping to break in (i.e. Miley), there's just no way that all 3 are able to play so many games and we can't have one being out causing too much disruption.
-
Yes will be plenty of chances get that, but we know who is going to be picked for the big games fitness allowing and that will matter...I do think we should have two high quality strikers though, I just think Mateta if he is wanting to leave (and I'm not sure he will, Palace seem to be on the up, have Europe now thanks to fa cup, although they are cursed to finishing 12th all the time), I imagine a club pitching him to be their main number 9 is going to attract. Who are we kidding Chelsea will sign him along with Delap and 3 more just for the lols.
-
Remember change of ownership with Everton, new owners may actually have some ambition
-
Is Mateta achievable? It's not much of a punt he has grown to be an excellent centre forward for Palace so I imagine he would cost an absolute bomb but don't know if time left on contract etc. I also wonder if he'd want to come to play second fiddle. I think we're more likely to sign someone up and coming again with a bit more risk attached. Mateta would be great but doubt it
-
Yes was stupidest thing about it Martinez had time enough to get back to goal tbh hojlund was never improvising a shot from there
-
Don't care what Glendenning thinks lol more that the rest of members of the pod just let him intimate that criticism and nobody contributed anything else or called him on it, don't mind some discussion and all, it just riled me cos it was nonsense. I will calm down and realise that every fan will always find whatever other fans saying to be wildly inaccurate, I just wish he wasn't called on to be the person explaining how our season went
-
thats completely fair honestly, think Wilson also on that pod would have been reasonable
-
That's fair, but i don't imagine clubs like to negotiate with a person who doesn't have much authority. Is Nickson able to do so?
-
Problem with Howe assuming all the power is just genuine workload surely. It's all very well but I can't be alone in looking jealously at how other clubs snap up players quickly early in window etc, snap up obscure talent for the future. I want someone working on that full time, Howe should have say and definitely veto fine but doesn't a totally great use of everyones time...
-
I know everyone else hates Football Weekly cos of Barry Glendenning, now i know i'm meant to hate all mackems, and he can be annoying, if he's not talking about us or anything else I have enjoyed his disdain for a lot of things etc, but still ofc would get rid.I know he's a weirdo too on social media and some weird stuff but hey ho dont really give a shit. (they also had on Johnathan Wilson another mackem but do like him). But I was genuinely really annoyed when Max Rushden threw to him to discuss Newcastle's finishing position, whereupon Glendenning just essentially says no us newcastle fans aren't delighted with the season as we all would be absolutely expectant of achieving champions league intimating we are a bunch of entitled twats who think the club should of course be finishing up here, despite selling 2 players and failing to reinforce at all. Cunt. Nobody challenged that reading of it. I don't really care when they slag off our ownership cos I also think saudi arabia are cunts and the ownership model of the league is all messed up, but I really don't think podcasts that are meant to be relatively unbiased look should be asking the mackem about newcastle fans...
-
I imagine Howe would walk if that happened
-
Really poor look for the club. What's the point of a sporting director that's only in for a year? And awful timing in terms of negotiating with other clubs, assume he's got a list of targets handed over at least, and now we need to bid before he takes that list to the next club.
-
I mean I do get the choice in terms of champions league footy still there etc etc, I don't actively resent him for it, i'm just still generally furious that Chelsea have got away with all kinds of blatant chicanery in the open to sign ridiculous players and us and a few others have been severely restricted in what we can sign...
-
the standing on hand thing i have to admit I didn't spot at time so arguably does redeem the refs call, but I think we'd all be upset to be on the receiving end of that. However, what Villa are brushing under the carpet was they came to a widely unfancied Man U team that no-one gave much of a chance of pulling anything out and they delivered an absolute stinker of a performance. Even before Martinez's dreadful challenge they were very poor and only Man U's quite frankly incredible skill at failing to put chances away left them with any chance of being in the game. Now Emery can brush this aside due to this controversy. Still think very unfortunate though, really impressed by Emery and this Villa team, clearly just Europe took a toll and tiredness caught up at end of season with some poor ends to cup runs. Would have much rather Chelsea missed out, but obviously very glad it helped us.
