I'd be tempted to possibly take the pain if a huge offer came in from PSG or Saudi now and then try and fucking sign 4 or 5 players (lol). We really need to go back to targeting players who are unfortunately riskier purchases. Our team were excellent at finding players with the needed mentality in Bruno, (even Joelinton in pre takeover days) and Isak all for some reason were willing to make the jump but clearly not seen as surefire successes. We have shifted profile to players who are seen as ready made squad additions for our equivalent rivals and we have not matched them on wages and we are not in fucking london, and we're probably not going to win the league or the champions league.

He cant be totally reassured by our ongoing ramshackle transfer efforts so I imagine he is thinking about Liverpool or others. I sincerely doubt he will refuse to play or anything so we can insist. If we can just get some players over the line may also reassure him.

I do see that but on the other hand you have a wold talent striker that you will never likely be able to adequately like for like replace, even if the new contract doesn't offer a huge amount more reassurance against huge bids coming in, getting him on the biggest wage we can afford shows we value him. When contract was offered and pulled away and he doesn't see a wage spike it sends a big message. I can see Staverley being over enthusiastic and not thinking enough about the PSR implications but I feel if there is a player we should be stretching our wage structure for it's isak. People are in dreamland with what wages we offer. It tells me we are going for players who expect more wages than we offer. We have to buy smarter and that means signing higher risk players with potential.
