To be fair, when he mentions intelligence I don't think he's wanting the players to go out and get masters degrees. I'm all for the players acting more intelligently on the pitch, I just struggle to see how Alan Pardew is the man to teach them.

We had a whole season last year of Pardew making the same mistakes again and again. He doesn't cotton on quick enough.

Some posters are just very keen to get in first with an extreme opinion so that they can then say how right they were if it happens. Dummett is learning his trade in a team that's already gone on holiday. Let's give him a bit more than 10 games, aye? It's okay if he turns out to be nothing more than steady, he doesn't have to be a world beater.

So de Jong's pedigree is his nationality?

We don't really have anything to play for, it's as ideal a time as any for this to happen.

I don't think Pardew sets up the team effectively enough to accommodate a striker who can't contribute to more than just getting on the end of chances.

We'll just end up with someone else relatively inexpensive with age on their side and a bit of potential. There are no plans for any kind of system, it's all about good deals in the transfer market and figure out the tactics later.

Pardew won't go anywhere soon. Those who make the decisions are happy to keep the club ticking along in the Premiership.

He's got it all to do in the remaining games to try and earn a deal here. He isn't worth £8m right now. Low on confidence maybe, but I don't think we're a good fit to get that confidence back.

We should go all out to make sure Lukaku and Remy are fronting our attack next season. We'll make a half-arsed attempt to secure Remy permanently but someone will come in with better terms, and we'll make a loan move for Lukaku but someone else will come in wanting him on a permanent transfer. Lukaku would solve a lot of problems. He has a good record in this league and a physical presence. Luuk de Jong might compliment Remy well in time but he doesn't look much of a goal threat and Lukaku would offer what de Jong can do as well as adding goals into the equation.

Fair play to Ambrose. Not sure if Abeid has a future here but at least he's made a name for himself over there. Plenty clubs from all over the world will now be aware of him also.

Sunderland still have the 2 games in hand but looking at their fixture list they haven't half made it hard on themselves now. Dropped 2 points last week and what will likely be all 3 today. Liverpool next and then their only winnable game until the end of April IMO.

These players need inspiration and drive, something you won't get from a manager or a club happy to say our ceiling is 8th after selling our best player and making no permanent signings for what will be 18 months.
