Aye - even if Benitez comes in, meets the players, and even has some say in how the team sets up on Monday night, I think publicly it'll be Pedro or Simpson and Cathro 'in charge'. Simpson is quite close to McClaren, so he might go at the same time. Just hope this gets sorted/announced today. Will give everyone a lift for Monday, hopefully including the players!

^ same for me. Wanted him to do well, just not up to the task. Lets hope the next man is.

Mort helped to create the mess. Yeah, maybe. But perhaps if he'd stayed on as chairman/MD, then he would/could have advised Ashley better on decisions he's made since. Communication between the club and fans was a lot better when he was here. As I remember, he left shortly after the Wise/Jiminez/Vetere backroom was set-up, and Llambias was MD by the time KK quit. He was part of the team that brought Keegan back, so maybe had he still been here, he could have helped sort that mess out, without it going the way it did?

And, without a hint of irony, considering where their own ground is built.
-
Trying to P*ss him off enough to resign? Nah... probably just typical shambolic NUFC.
-
If McClaren stays, we'll be lucky to get 1 more win!
-
Ashley will just send Charnley one of them new fangled fax thingys, to hand over....
-
Someone in work just said about tomorrows Pre-Match presser being cancelled... gotta be McClaren gone then, at least. Benitez would be a coup, but just hoping whoever comes in can get the players onside quickly, and with a bit more focus.
-
I'm not sure how bad the atmosphere was inside the ground against Bournemouth but this would most certainly be the last straw. Well according to Lowes/Anderson, the Boo's at full time weren't as loud as they could have been, simply because about half the ground had gone by then. I'm sure if he's still here on derby day, and things are going badly, then the crowd wont stay around just to vent. Same fans would probably be back for the next home match though!
-
Just like he would know Aye, Cisse see's him in training, and probably assumes McClaren isn't going anywhere. And I bet Steve wont be going round tapping his watch saying 'anytime now', either.

Dear me... and we thought the Liverpool 'Justice for Suarez' thing was cringey and embarrasing??!!!
-
Just thought about us 'sounding out' Rafa... "Hola" "Hello Rafa? Its Lee Charnley, Newcastle United" "Rafa?" click #WeTried
-
Aye, and then they set their heart on McClaren who was still with Derby at the time!
-
Exactly... the club probably haven't even spoken to him yet. He'll probably just get a text off Lee, or Bob later on, telling him to clear his desk..... hopefully.
-
He shoulda stuck to Whitesnake!
-
Maybe it was a club car, and they've relieved him of it. When he goes, he's got to get a taxi.... and pay for it himself!
-
Probably went to collect his brolly.
-
So if that photo on Twitter was genuinely from today, then he got binned and headed down to North Yorkshire (presumabely he lives there?) and went to console himself with a nice pub lunch?
-
Not even Carver had the club in such a bad position IIRC, despite that abysmal run. But yeah, precedent is not encouraging. I think the difference this time, apart from the big TV money at stake, is the fact that they chose and waited for McClaren. Then he had a summer of spending (probably little say in those signings), then after disappointing results, he got to spend more (and signifiganlty) choose some of his own players in January, but we are now worse off and heading down. Looking back at history, Pardew's first full season we finished 5th - then they gave him the contract extension up to 8 years as they feared England might come knocking. That may have contributed to him not being sacked. McClaren only got a 3yr contract, didn't he? As someone else said, he's failed miserably at all targets he was set this season, and been given better resources/funds than predecessors. That is why I believe (perhaps naively) that Ashley may take action this time.

Talking about us now on MOTD2 Extra. Henry Winter: "Listening to that (McClaren post match), you'd have to be getting the road map out for the championship" "players would be depressed listing to that"
-
Would hardly be a suprise, they had nobody lined up to replace Pardew. Last time though, there weren't that many available candidates (I think, from memory) and they seemed set on McClaren. This time, there is Moyes (seems to be the fave), Rafa (probably unrealistic) or even Jose (dream time!).... the big TV money is under threat. so they could throw a massive amount on wages at any of those till the summer to hopefully keep us up, and the TV deal would more than pay that outlay back. Its a gamble of course, but we all know Mike likes a gamble. But unlike before with Pardew, the TV money will be the decisive factor this time.
-
Typical Media Pardew lover... ignoring that Palace are becoming 'Pardewed' now.
-
Aye, just gotta hope Ashley is panicked enough to pull the trigger... or at leats tell his puppet to do it. His cash cow is in danger of missing out on its biggest pay-day, and even he must see that McClaren cant turn things around. Especially after letting the club spend almost £80m of the funds it'd stored up!!

"We have to sort it, we have 10 games to do it" Hehe... good luck with that!
