  1. I think if your squad planning properly you want to extract some form of FFP leeway from as many players as possible. Given Wilson is 32 and injury prone you have to consider it an option of someone will give you a decent fee. I’m not sure it’s logical to take an injury prone 32 yo as a back up at this point, especially if he’s someone you can get a decent fee for. I’m not trying to pick hairs but if curious to know which championship players who are 27 went for 15m?
  2. Hope he can continue to turn it around. Given he’s managing Celta I’m guessing he’s spent very little.
  3. Wilson was bought at a very different time, it was an Ashley bailout signing designed to keep us in the league. We don’t know if this guy can perform in the PL, and it’s a short term signing when we should be thinking more long term. Isak is the main man and we should be locking him down and playing him up front not shunting him wide to accommodate others. As we will be playing one game a week until the summer, we don’t need to spend money on another CF when we have two already.
  4. He’s being linked with them today. So it generates discussion.
  5. I agree, the ownership is what give them stature but they still have it imo. I’m not a fan of them either, I just recognise that if they were to call Bruno’s agent to buy him he would be gone.
  6. That was his preferred during his Bournemouth days, he has spent a lot of time with other elite managers since then. Also, it’s worthy of noting the system he used to play isn’t played by other top teams in football.
  7. Indeed which is why your comparison isn’t exactly apples to apples. Buying a striker at our level will always be a hit to FFP. All the reason more we must raise more revenue. Get that training ground and kit sponsored. This should have been done already.
  8. Reet, so we agree then. PSG come in and he’s off unless someone bigger than then comes in.
  9. Like them or loathe them, PSG are a club of stature, look at the squad they have. Elite players want to play with other elite players they have an abundance and the means to pay him whatever he wants. Not to mention guaranteed CL every season. are people really suggesting he wouldn’t go to PSG?
  10. It’s such a short term move and a bad use of money. He’s 27 having one hot streak in a league renowned for poor defending. We have way less games lumped together in the second half of the season. Are you convinced we can get our money back for him if he comes in and flops? If so go for it.
  11. I think, the amount of football clubs which have actually ended up liquidated is fairly small, it’s just the cases of Leeds and Portsmouth were great marketing which allowed people to believe the regulations were needed. If you actually wanted to stop clubs going bust you would make sure owners had to underwrite all liabilities, if they didn’t the takeover would be blocked. You would ban leveraged buy outs. It’s actually a very clever sleight of hand; because what are we talking about when we discuss it? Regulation of business or sporting regulations? If you notice the two are often blurred when in actuality they are two very different matters and should be handled totally separately.
  12. Why are you comparing the cost of one of the highest rated strikers in Europe to two older defenders who don’t have the same pedigree. let’s put it this way, if a club were to try buy Watkins right now they would be looking at the same sort of figures we paid for Isak in terms of fee and contract. I do agree with the sentiment about Kamara as he was free, you pay more in wages so what, if he’d shit you just sell and book the profit.
  13. Guys, stop the cope please, it’s PSG. If they meet the clause he will be without his heartfelt goodbye Instagram post as soon as his agents phone rings.
  14. Leffe your a class act, and I mean this respectfully but the way FFP has been implemented is absolutely rotten and only acts to serve as a glass ceiling. if we want to protect clubs from going insolvent the current rules are wholly inadequate and don’t serve that purpose.
  15. It Eddie’s selecting players who aren’t fit or running them into the ground you can’t blame Ashworth for that. Unless you referring to our transfer which in that case it’s a fair question. First team selection is the responsibility of the manager not the sporting director.
  16. I could be mistaken, I thought he’s one of those who’ve been bashing us since the takeover.
  17. So odd how he’s changed his tune.
  18. We get a legit two weeks break? If so I’m shocked we haven’t announced warm weather training, it seemed to have helped the last two years.
  19. It’s true, it’s not ideal as you need a replacement but that’s going to be the case for awhile, no way around it. Now the situation will be worst as he’s worth less than he was and likely to leave for free at the end of contract whilst spending a lot of time injured. It’s a lose lose for us. I get that’s it’s unpalatable as he’s very likeable and done the business for us, but you have to sell at the top so you can continue to invest.
  20. I think we get 20m for him last summer, he scored a lot of goals last season.
  21. I love Callum but we missed the opportunity to let him go and book some FFP gains last summer. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but players with extensive injury histories are a big drag on performance.
  22. Grealish makes a massive difference, how often are you going to book a 100m sale? As I said, the gap is skewed by these two items, yes you have some instances where you bought well for cheap but that becomes increasingly difficult as you scale. Homegrown sales will come but much later for us due to the state of our academy, it’s difficult to compare the clubs because you didn’t ever have 14 years of the worst owner the league has seen. Flat revenue over 14 years is literally unthinkable in this league but we managed to achieved it. The one advantage we should have over you is being able to inflate sponsorships because of state linked sponsors, even then we’ve utilised it poorly so far
  23. Although this is true, it includes a couple of key one of factors which skew it. 1, out splurge to keep us in the league was definitely a one off, I don’t expect us to spend so much in a January window ever age. 2, your Grealish sale.
  24. We do, easily. Oshimen is what 120m? Isak is half of that? Your undervaluing him massively. the major issue, is the market is small for such expensive players but he’s better than what Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United have.
