It’s a massive factor without a doubt. We needed to improve our starting 11, we needed a left back and a right winger and didn’t bother.

I mean if your player with a dedicated DM It’s his job to sit and protect the defence. At least you have somebody responsible for that area of the pitch. Our current way of playing asks so much of our midfielder and wingers they have so much ground to cover. Generally teams playing with such an aggressive set up will have a super high line to accommodate it, but we have such a slow defence they want to sit deep causing acres of space. It’s a tactical issue.

The issue is, we have zero tactical flexibility because we lack and specialists to perform certain roles. Even if you swap out what we had today and put in both joes it’s the same issue right? Massive space in front of our defence and a lack of creativity. When it works it’s obviously great but when it comes unstuck it looks amateurish.

That’s all he should be at this stage, a squad option. We decided we didn’t need a starting left back but the evidence is clear we did.

I think this goes for the entire club to be frank, we hired a ceo with no experience of champions league football, same with Dan Ashworth and same with Eddie. We’ve clearly grown too quickly and it’s coming back to haunt us. we also tried to be clever in the summer oddly didn’t improve positions we should have and have been absolutely routed as a result of this. A lot of soul searching to be done from top to bottom, you can be sure every single one of them is feeling the heat.

To be very frank, our recent performances have shown exactly why you have to rotate, be flexibility tactically. Ultimately we have a situation whereby we have lots of injuries and lots of tired layers in need of a rest as well a bunch of poor performances and bad results. I hope Eddie’s here long enough to learn from these mistakes and we can go forward stronger but I do worry for him January is going to be a disaster and we I’ll be a massive test from everyone including the PIF.
