He is the most successful manager in the history of Boro and Twente. They are indisputable facts. He failed in some of his jobs yes, but it's wrong of people to rewrite history.
-
This forum does have some pretty strange/inconsistent opinions on players tbf.
-
I don't rate him particularly highly, but don't get the hate for him on here. I prefer to get angry at genuinely very good players who aren't coming close to fulfilling their potential (Krul, Colo, Sissoko...)
-
That German kit is way better than that crappy one the men had last summer. Oh, and the ivory Coast are pretty rubbish...
-
McClaren has won more than Sissoko has, and possibly ever will
-
Aye it's ridiculous. Anyone who says anything remotely positive about McClaren is in the wrong! Even if you don't go to SJP any more and don't even want SM to get the job However, it's perfectly acceptable to want Vieira (even though he would only ever have come if Ashley could have got him cheap...)
-
I would agree with this, but to be fair to SM, Derby were nowhere near being play off contenders when he took the job. They obviously ended this season very badly, but I think people who call him a 'failure' at Derby are harsh/biased.

There's definitely something dodgy about France. Not only did FIFA do that, they changed the rules again at the last World Cup to ensure an easier group for France. They always get p*ss easy groups in the draw and France were one of the few UEFA nations to vote for Blatter last week.
-
He did, and they were involved in a lot of high scoring matches. One thing that's also forgotten (because of last season's disastrous run in) is that he left Derby in a much better shape than they were when he took over. Can't say that's enough to get me too excited though...
-
I'd probably agree with this (assuming we won't actually bring in a top manager...). McClaren is not half as bad as most people on this forum seem to think he is, he's certainly better than Pardew. My main issue with McClaren is that by all accounts he'd be another yes man. We've accepted we're not going to get a genuinely brilliant manager (see the excitement at the prospect of bringing in a rookie), so we probably have to accept that we're getting a yes man too. That's NUFC in 2015 I'm afraid.

Maybe I think even pardew would have got Derby promoted mind As I've said, McClaren is severely underwhelming, but he gets a lot of unfair stick on here. Derby were nowhere near promotion when McClaren took over. He has had some genuine success in his career.
-
Derby do better with Clement too. I guess the only criteria was cheap. Not sticking up for McClaren because I don't want him here, but for the last couple of weeks people have been constantly telling me Clement and Vieira are much better than McClaren. HOW DOES ANYONE KNOW? OK they might be better, but they might be a million times worse.
-
Surely he can't be worse than Carver? Probably not, but if we think like that, it's mission accomplished for Ashley imo. We shouldn't be satisfied with the least worst option.
-
He's like Bruce, blames the ref for every point they drop. Pretty underrated manager tbf, even did a good job for Wales. Was rubbish at QPR, but can't imagine anyone doing well there.
-
I've always liked Forest. They're not far from me geographically, and I remember as a kid Cloughie bringing them from nothing to champions of Europe. Twice. I think Clough's achievements with Forest (and Derby, for that matter) are what make him the most brilliant English manager for me. Nobody has ever come close to what he did at Forest in the late 70s/early 80s. I think we should automatically relegate Stoke, Swansea etc and bring back the 90s clubs. Forest, Wednesday, Coventry...
-
Vieira would be...interesting, but I can't understand the enthusiasm on here for a rookie. OK, he's better than Carver, but still...
-
So jealous of Villa and Arsenal fans. This build up is making me angry that we aren't even trying to get in their position under Ashley and Charnley.
-
A good manager and coaching set up would have him motivated. I accept that our coaching is beyond awful, but I don't like to see it always used as an excuse for player's failings (particularly when it's only used as an excuse to defend certain players). He was "unmotivated" despite the fact we were heading towards the Championship, disgraceful for one of our more senior players and someone who's captained the team. We as fans should be furious with him!
-
He's definitely looked lazy to me, certainly in 2015 anyway. I'm surprised he's not more disliked on here tbh, he clearly has talent but just can't be bothered and is clearly waiting for a proper club to take him away.
-
This. I honestly don't know how anyone can rate the lad.
-
Genuinely nice lad, and the last player to score a winning goal against Sunderland. Good luck to him.
-
It's unbelievable Ashley hasn't even tried to do this since Keegan. The wages of a decent manager could probably have been won back if we finished higher than 16th in 2013 and 15th this year. Fans are fickle too, getting in the right man would kill off a lot of protests immediately.
-
Karanka and Warburton would be interesting, but I wish just for once we could get an established top level manager rather than taking a punt on someone.
-
TBH, these articles mean nothing to me. Most of the NUFC journos on twitter are guessing or giving opinions. If true, it's ridiculous that carver even remains a coach...
