brave lad...

possibly the most undignified win in football history
-
Unbelievable. How can a team from a major league, even in 1st gear not win a game like this?!

http://reactiongif.org/wp-content/uploads/GIF/2014/08/GIF--Nope-No-way-Nah-no-nope-Jerry-Seinfeld-Seinfeld-GIF.gif I don't get why this is a controversial opinion tbh.

I never really thought we would get an established PL goalscorer, especially if even one other side was interested.
-
I make nowt of it tbh. Probably just a bunch of small time freelance journalists looking for some exposure.

Portland Timbers 4 - 3 Newcastle United (Game link in OP)

In that case, it would be good if we played some semi-reputable teams in a 'better' city. -
Not really moving any goalposts. There was never any explanation for why MYM was dropped and shipped out so suddenly. In the handful of appearances he made for us, he had more standout performances than Williamson had had in his entire career. He was also better than Coloccini, whom he was bought to replace. The stat about winning headers means nowt in the grand context. Yes Pardew is a shifty snake, and a liar, and isn't fit to manage a football club that means so much to so many. But don't make him out to be some sort of deep thinker for getting shot of MYM because of some stand-alone stat. We could all see MYM's weaknesses, but could also see that he was an immense defender overall, and miles better than Williamson. Don't use the stat as a reason for why he was hooked, when the bloke excelled in so many other areas of the game. He was sold because Pardew was out of his depth and couldn't keep a happy squad. Nowt more, nowt less. I don't want to get into a pointless argument about Pardew and whether or not Mapou could do this or that, but how many "standout performances" did MYM have for us? People often mention the Spurs game because of his clearance, but we should have lost that game by 5!

I like it, and fair play to them for not having some ugly black away kit like most teams seem to have now.

One thing I'm looking forward to this season is seeing how our underperforming players do under the new coaches. Whilst I accept Pardew and his thick mates have a lot to answer for, I don't accept (as quite a few on here seem to) that every player who has played poorly is a direct result of poor coaching and nothing else. I'm hoping the likes of Anita will show a little more this season before we run out of excuses for them.

He's an alright player, nothing more, nothing less. It's typical of this forum to pick a player they like/don't like and massively exaggerate how good/bad he is.
-
I swear SKY televise Liverpool v Newcastle every year just so they can bang on about this match.
-
Nothing wrong with that, it's the knee jerk reaction to how we perceive Mike Ashley is what people are reacting to. Even if we make say another 5 top quality signings i still would want him out, one summer when he is back to the wall ( that might go sour yet) shouldn't make up for 5 years of s***. Aye, and we say the same knee jerk reactions from some this time last year and look what happened... I've nowt against people having hope, but I like to see a bit of realism, and I definitely don't like to see that fat tw*t let off the hook.

I hate the New Balance kits. Give me a traditional plain kit or a ridiculously over the top 90s kit, not something in between.
-
Remarkable how signing 2 players (after years of leaving massive gaping holes in the squad) and we get some people starting to think he's alright.
-
Aye. People will say Austin can't do this, and Austin might not be able to do that, but he scored almost as many goals as all our strikers put together last year. That's good enough reason to hope we get him!
-
This is the opposite tbf, they hired young, progressive managers. Leicester have hired a past it old man who has let the game pass him by. Aye fair enough about the age gap. What I meant was Southampton binned Adkins when he was doing okay to the outrage of the football world (well his fellow average English managers). They then obviously appointed the right man in Poch. My point is Leicester have tried to do similar in binning Perason and appointing probably a more 'glamorous' foreign coach Pearson only got sacked because he's evil, he did a great job for them and he'd definitely have been given at least another season if he wasn't psychotic. I'd be very surprised if Ranieri finished higher than the 14th they achieved last season, he probably won't finish the season at all.
-
He's a nice guy, but he won't succeed. This would have been a good appointment 10 years ago, but his performance in his recent jobs has been very underwhelming (although he did well at rich Monaco). The mess he made of the Greece job was pretty extraordinary.
-
He absolutely is as horrific as people make out. Taylor is the one who's not "as horrific as people make out". He's clearly a lot better than Williamson imo.
-
Begovic to Chelsea is pretty depressing.
-
If de Jong makes it through the game without suffering major organ damage, I'll be happy.
-
Apparently he was fairly underwhelming for Guingamp. I'm hoping a change of management will do him good here, he's a useful player to have in the squad. Hmm hopefully, but I'm a bit scpetical. I agree with fatwax, I'm a bit baffled by the faith some people have in his abilities. It seems like he's living off a couple of assists in 12/13 (on this forum at least!)
-
Did anyone see much of him last year? His stats don't look particularly impressive.

A midtable Armenian team who had a player sent off

Even 11 novices would surely try and park the bus after a while?! Bet they're just attention whores doing it on purpose.
