MA: Sign whatever it takes to keep us up. Yeah ok. Still fuck all done after another week. Every other club just cracks on with it. The negotiating from this club (Charnley) is a total joke and embarrassing. -

Suarez, Van Persie, Van Nistlerooy, Kuyt and many more. I think it's just more of a lottery than normal really. I think if you watch them as players rather than their league, you'll probably get a better idea. I think the only player who looked brilliant before arriving and then wasn't, was probably Kezman. Vincent Janssen. AZ. App: 34. Goals 27 Spurs. App: 27. Goals 2. Theres many. I think striker wise. Van Nistelrooy and Suarez are the exception. To carry 20 plus goals over into the EPL. It just worries me that league, equally scotland would if we got Dembele. I think the situation we are in and unable to sign proven, presents a risk, a gamble. Just dont be dismissive of that. I wouldn't be the kind of dick to say I told you so, I font know the player, but it still worries me. The drop is now ony 3pts. Is he our saviour? Equally there is no need to be so dismissive of the Eredivisie even though Dutch football is going through a very rough patch. It is my contention more world class forwards have spent their formative years in Dutch academies or learnt their trade in this league than in English ones in recent decades. I’ll simply say: Romario, Van Basten, Gullit, Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooij, Kluivert, Mackaaij, Van Persie, Robben, Ibrahimovic, Suarez and that’s me probably forgetting a few good ones too. No need to go on like we’re some football backwater. Well we are at the moment, but plenty of players have been developed here, and plenty more will follow. Not doing or saying dutch football is poor. The exceptional records some strikers set in Eredivise must be down to coming up against some very weak sides and some weak defences. Other than RVN,Suarez, and I forgot RVP. Not so many bring that record over here. Its all a gamble. True about the years gone by, but more recently we havent seen Strikers do the business over here. I was only focusing on such high scoring players. You know what though, maybe its about time we did start taking gambles, because the fear of it not working out is part of the problem. Its part of our club though, you look at our history we have always tried to sign a good striker, number 9s here have been the pinnacle. I guess breaking our record on a none entity is the fear for some of us. -

I'm fairly confident Rafa isn't expecting this lad to be a 20 goal plus striker like. He's just probably not expecting him to be a <5 goal striker like Joselu. Nobody said he was. We are looking at transitions into other leagues and success and failure. So were spurs only expecting 2 from Jansen? Highly doubtful, what's your point? Your claiming Rafa doesnt expect 20 goals. But more than 5. And quoting me im guessing cos you think I think he should get 20 goals because I said Suarez and RVN are exceptions. My point was they are exceptions. Not many cross the waters and carry excessive Eredivise goal form into tje premier league. Was being sarcastic about Jansen, He came here with a good record and into a good side who create chances and managed a return of 2 goals. And meaning of course Spurs were expecting more for their outlay. -

Jozy Altidore: AZ. App: 67 goals: 39. Sunderland. App: 42. Goals: 1. Players records from Eredivise are a concern. -

All his goals last season show he gets into the right positions between the defenders. Near enough all goals are from central and tap ins. He doesn't create many by himself, nearly all assisted. If he needs assisted goals I hope we have some creative players lined up, because so far this season we are not presenting many options even though the striking options are pretty poor. One thing he looks good at is getting in the box and staying onside for tap ins headers. I hope we can create chances for him. And bare in mind it was Eredivise so not outstanding defending. -

https://www.newcastle-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=97780.msg5916870#msg5916870 Mate I dont need reminding. I was around. No disrespect but im guessing you were six. My Dad and brother are Liverpool fans. So its something I know and hear a lot about. Back in them days, they had one of the best midfielders in the world who could play the game on his own, Gerrard. Rafa was extremely lucky to have that Liverpool side when Gerrard was around. But to be honest thats no disrespect to what Rafa did while he was there. He signed some howlers but equally he got some really good players through the doors. I was only pointing out, he did sign some poor players. I can eat my thoughts if this lad is good, I have honesty never heard of him. And for me thats quite a thing as I usually have knowledge of quite a few leagues, but this guy and the German link, I really have not a clue. But ??? -

I hope this doesn't end up being one of his N'gog or Riera type gambles. He signed some utter shite at Liverpool. -
I think he is restricted here. The role he carries reflects his goals and assists, not sure why people make the assumption he should be higher on assists and goals in a side that rarely covert their chances and he is played much too deep for him to get forward to get goals.

Nah, you just missed the market changing. The market where, for example, other English players such as Andre Gray (£18.5m), Oxlade Chamberlain (£35m), Danny Drinkwater (£34m), Jordan Pickford (£25m), Michael Keane (£35m), Kyle Walker (£50m), John Stones (£50m) aren't worth what they're bought for either. Shelvey didn't become a £20m player, a £20m player became Shelvey. Either way he's certainly not a £12m player. £12m for even a relatively established English player now gets you someone like Sam Clucas, Will Hughes, or if you're lucky Jack Cork. Clucas and Hughes are better players than Shelvey - Cork I'm not so sure about. This is all irrelevant anyway, if Rafa is happy to get rid of him then we should do so. I doubt he would sanction a transfer if Shelvey was of any use.

Sigurdsson 50m Mangala 46m We had a part to play in the stupid fees. Andy Carroll for 35m was in truth mental at the time.
