    Footy trivia

Sellars and Ginola? Ive also got a hazy feeling that Tino scored a freekick too. I could just be imagining that though.
  2. I still rant about him. I think all the feelings I feel have been covered already, but I am known for my "i hate pardew" rants. In one of my jobs I mix with folks from all around the country and if we're chatting about football before the event then they will get me onto the subject just to hear me spew bile about the smug festering arse bubo.

Yeah, I wonder about that too. I really love our forum, and one of the reasons is the way it's organised. One thread per player, individual match threads etc but their board is just a mess of whatever random thought comes to them at that particular moment. I've seen the front page of rtg have 3 or 4 threads about the same person/match/thing rather than just have the one consolidated thread.
  4. Apparently it was on this day last year that this excrement covered tampon chewer was sacked by crystal palace.
  5. Just when I thought I couldn't love this man any more. Ryder? EDIT: Dammit, beaten to it.
  6. Reading that article and it made me wonder; is mike's wife really called Laura? Laura Ashley? Really?
  7. On a slightly different track, what do we reckon will happen to the likes of charnley should a takeover happen? will he he kept on?

    Football pet hates

I'll join in the penalties one, but from a slightly different angle. When a manager grumbles about losing a match because of a penalty not given to his side. Nah mate, set up and train your team to score goals and then you don't have to worry about getting penalties. As far as I'm concerned, a penalty should be a bonus and not what a manager relies on to get a result. I have hazy recollections of souness doing this a lot.
  9. Wasn't a mod as such, it was a setting in the options I think.
  10. An offer was made and apparently knocked back. What happens then? What is the process after this initial knockback? Say PCP offers their £300m, ashley's lackeys review it (which could take a couple of days maybe, I get that) and it gets declined then what happens next? You'd think that if it was a lowball offer, or PCP would suspect ashley of rejecting their first offer, then they would have a plan B waiting in the wings. Hell, even a plan C just in case. Can they not just spring the new offer there and then (or even after a couple of days for any tweaking etc) Or is it like meeting a new lass and you don't want to sound too eager so you have to leave it 3 days before you call again? There's probably some protocol I don't know about that doesn't make it as simple as I've just made out, and that's what I want to understand.
  11. I've considered this, and the Ashley not spending in January scenario, and whilst possible I can't see it to be true. Not because of logic, as I say both things are possible, but just because of the utter dispair and heartbreak I'd feel if it is all a nasty ruse.
  12. Yeah. The "sources close to the club" are clearly just the potential possibilities spoken about on forums.

He wasn't there long and he hardly pulled up any trees either. Shagged my mate's sister whilst he was here though.
  14. There was a comment on that Star piece earlier saying that The Star has just made it up. Its now not there.
  15. I don't know as it's not my area of expertise, but the issue with HMRC; won't it be the individuals involved that will be in trouble and not the actual club? I know that a company must have a named person who is responsible in case legal action has to be brought and it's that individual who would face charges and penalties. In our case, it was charnley who was arrested. What I'm not sure on, and haven't seen any expert commentary on it anywhere, is in such a matter who is directly responsible, what sanctions would be met and what the knock on effect could be (league standing etc)?
  16. Maybe they have set out a table for his party in there, but the tables and chairs are really tiny child size and he's sat there with a party hat on looking ginger and miserable.

    Kieron Dyer

It was this lad who I associate with the absolutely awful and completely untrue trite expression that I hate "it's like a new signing" as he always seemed to be injured. I did see him outside the pictures once and a group of young lads came and asked him for his autograph and he happily gave them a signature each. I think this post covers several threads at once.

    Alan Shearer

I wasn't around on this forum then, but I do remember a Chronicle story (forget which journo, might have been Alan Oliver) suggested that Shearer at CB would be a good solution as he was our best defender. Funnily enough, I remembered it when watching that interview.

See, I'm thinking more Windsor Davies in It Ain't Half Hot Mum.

    Emmanuel Rivière

I thought I heard on Radio Newcastle that he'd secured his release and then signed for Metz so we receive no fee.
  21. I've worried about this since the cretin was sacked from palace.
  22. Still makes no sense to me. If the club was employing the agent then fine, but he's representing the player, therefore the player should pay. I cannot fathom why in football it's this way around. Pretty sure this doesn't happen in other walks of life that require agents, such as actors etc. The agent there takes a percentage of the actor's fee as far as I'm aware.
