Got to be more to it than that. What is to stop the club offering the player the contract he wants that his agent has asked for, but strike off the agent fee? Player is getting what he wants that way, agents can then ask the player for a percentage of a signing on fee, which wouldn't be so ridiculous.
-
My question is regarding agents: Why would a football club pay an agent representing a player? The agent is not employed by the club, they are there to get the best deal for the player and so the player should pay for the services out of his own pocket surely? I realise that's two questions, but it's something I've never understood. Thank you to anyone who can clarify it for me.

Where has all this stuff about us paying massive wages come from? I realise relatively they will be astronomical compared to your average man on the street, but I was under the impression that relative to other football clubs, we paid a more moderate sum and using the "shop window/stepping stone" argument to sign players?
-
I agree with this and would also add that surely you sign better than what you have, so that your current player becomes the back up?

Am I right in thinking we can only register 25 players (not including any players under 21?) Yes, but U21s don't count towards this total. But the only U21s anywhere near first team reckoning are Woodman and Armstrong (hypothetically in the latter's case). Merino and Aarons?

Closely followed by Bear,Gipetto and that bitter witch Janey bet she's some f***ing 20 stone munter in leggings and a xxxl t shirt I don't know why I am so surprised when I see the blind hatred and bitterness when I follow one of the links posted here to RTG, I should be used to seeing it by now. The majority that frequent that board just have no balance and from what I've read there they just cannot be reasoned with. As for most bitter, I'd have to cast my vote to that longtimelurker. Awful.

Last time I saw him he had an awesome game. In fact, he plate smashing.
-
Does he prefer to use his right, left or is he a two feta?

Probably a post for the questions thread, but how long does a medical take? Genuine question, not a whinge about us dragging our feet.

I just feel that if we get one very good marquee signing then it would clear the blockage in the transfer pipes. We get someone good in, others would look and see Rafa and Newcastle mean business and think "I want to be part of this". If I think about the mindset of players looking in, the less action in our dealings might make them question coming here, Rafa or not.

This is pretty much my thoughts on it. It's harsh to brand a young player cack because he was playing with awful players with awful attitudes in an awful team.
-
Is he a combination of a quilt and a pillow? But just the man version?
-
I always thought this about Gayle. He was constantly linked through pardew's time here and then Rafa signed him.

Doesn't need balls. In his mind he did nothing wrong and will be welcomed back by the adoring northerners like that dream he had once. Sadly, this. As managers (and even politicians) have proved in recent memory, they can perform a job that is not down to the public's expectations to the point of alienating huge swathes of people and as long as their chairman backs them, nothing will happen to them. So they take some abuse on matchday. Big deal, they just suck up to their boss and do all the things asked of them by those above and nothing happens. They just ride through it, knowing it will blow over and feeling like they've got one over on the fans once again. They rarely have the integrity to resign when they realise the fanbase is against them. If this sh-t camel came back, he wouldn't care. It's a payday without repercussion.

They had better not just be working on one deal at a time. Thing is, it's charnley so I don't think he can multitask. Or single task. Or manage to put his shirt on the right way around of a morning.
-
We should ask for thenige's opinion on every player coming in. If it's a good one, we know that they will be terrible and/or won't make it here
-
For goodness sake, it's like charnley got all his negotiating skills from visiting Swalwell car boot sale. Sees something marked at £16 and says "I'll give you £8 for it". Here's a thought, actually offer something at least close to the asking price if you're going to haggle like you would with a butcher or an ironmonger. *The £16 I just made up, I haven't equated this to an actual value put on an actual player.

A stiff breeze would tear De Jong's quad, break 4 of his fingers and give him head lice.

Training in The Algarve with Oxford.

Whilst I understand wages, what's the big deal about paying an unwanted player's wages for a short time as you try to offload him? He's not taking up a squad place if he's not assigned a squad place. Their agent will soon be trying to engineer a move away if that happens I shouldn't wonder.
-
As a forward it's pretty clear he's of little use, but are there any positive points to his game? I haven't really seen much of him even when he was here.
-
Is that due to football seasons or something? April 1st is usually the start of the business year.
-
I think under a different regime he may have been praised a bit more. I take on board all the good signings he scouted, but they're from a time where my love of football had almost evaporated because of pardew, ashley etc. The piping off of mclaren to make sure we got that cretin instead of a real manager was the icing on the depression tasting cake for me. It's another worry about Rafa staying removed as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line is that I'm glad he's gone.
-
Why is that funny? I smiled when I saw it, but because of a misunderstanding. For some reason I thought I was in the sunderland thread and thought this was a possible sunderland signing. As the mackems are never in Europe it made me smile. Then I realised I wasn't in that thread. That's just me though.
