  1. I really wouldn't put it past Palace to deliberately string us along with no intention to sell just to run down the clock and stop us finding an alternative. They may well see us as direct competitors for Premier League places and, if they are ambitious, even a European spot. Finishing above is and getting a European spot, even in the lesser competitions would be worth about £15 million.
  2. Also Johnson is a textbook Spursy player. Nippy, but not quick enough to really use it as a weapon. Skillful, but not enough to regularly create something with a bit of skill. And lightweight as fuck.
  3. Right, first game week done, time for some sweeping statements based on personal prejudice and scant evidence. Postecoglu's body language is what would really worry me if I were a Spurs fan. From the second half of last season, when the honeymoon was over, so often he stood on the sidelines like a potato with arms and legs and no idea what to do when his tactics fell about him as teams had learnt how to play them. He won't see out the season.
  4. Of the Barca lot the only one I would really want is Victor Roque. Otherwise I think the wages will be too high and I'd question their motivation as they might perceive joining us as a step down. But Roque is still young and I'd love to see how he'd do under the wing of our boys from Brazil with Howe and Co's coaching.
  5. Fortuna Düsseldorf, my local team in Germany, always seem to have nice kits. The home (red) is simple but with a few good details, the away (white) has the nice detail of the Rhine river running behind the badge but for me is the "worst" of the lot, I love the purple and pink one and will be getting one for sure.
  6. I think this season we'll see him play against the weaker teams and Kelly against the stronger ones. Bases on yesterday's performance that seems to be 100% the right call. He's got some great attributes and I really like him ambition in passing at times, but this can cost him and he was done a few times by relatively simple stepovers/direction changes by the attackers.
  7. I think the linenup picks itself, which I think does really highlight our need to strengthen in a couple of key areas. I'd go for and I think it will be. Pope Tino - Schär - Burn - Hall Longstaff - Bruno - Joelinton Murphy - Isak - Gordon Barnes for Gordon, Oslula for Isak, Kelly for Hall at 60 minutes with the game all wrapped up. Also Willock to get some minutes at some point too.
  8. I can see him leaving on a loan to buy to a mid/lower table Premier League team. He was great on loan and buying him made sense but he was only ever a transitional player (in terms of his quality) for us and I think the squad has moved past him now. It just a shame that for so much of the time that he would have been useful to us he has been injured.
  9. Oh course Miley. That was classic Newcastle United's shitty luck.
  10. This whole "not enough to contemplate" line smacks of braggartry. You say that if you're offered half of what you want, not if you're after £70 million and you're offered £65. It's all very used car salesmen/estate agent posturing. I'd sack it off and go for Murillo and put some more towards a RW with a bit more guile than Murphy and Almiron.
  11. I hope well see a bit of the Longstaff of 2022/23 season today and his performances last season really were due to him, like so many others, playing through injury. Other than Botman and Lascelles, do we have any injuries?
  12. I know that it's just that if you had told me Bournemouth would do this even 5 years ago I would have found it hard to believe. That Bournemouth had a player deemed worth £65 million is equally mental.
  13. To Palmer or not to Palmer is my main debate. His price hike is huge and I can see him losing value especially as Chelsea are such an unknown quantity (again) at the start of the season and he's still young.
  14. Bournemouth have just signed a Brazilian forward for over £40 million. Bournemouth. Just let that sink in for a bit. There is insane money in the Premier League.
  15. If I was Southampton I wouldn't sign him. Those numbers in the Championship, plus his past record in the Prem, plus his age, plus issues around his attitude would all tell me to appreciate what he did to get them up and then move on as I can't see him being an impactful player in the Prem for them. Naturally to assuage your supporters who will hold some appreciation to him you say things like that you'd like to sign him. I think we've a much better chance shipping him off to an aspirational Championship club.
  16. Also gone without Haaland. I want a bit more money in the bank, so debating swapping Poro for Dalot who had a good season for Scum United last year. Minteh in there either to curse him or to soften the blow when he rampages through the opposition racking up points.
  17. I have a hard time separating what I feel is a reasonable position for him to say from the fact it came out of that smug ,spivish face with that fecking ridiculous hair.
  18. The login code still didn't work for me on my Android phone. I'm not at my computer but am I right that people are saying the code works on the browser?
  19. I would 100% endorse this.
  20. I have no issue with Miggy, in fact I really like him as a player. I have no issue with Murphy, in fact I really like him as a player. I DO have an issue with our two RW options being Miggy and Murphy as for me they are just too similar and lack the quality to be a regular starters in a top 6/4 side. Either is an excellent bench/specific game plan option but I don't see keeping both as a viable option as it prevents us strengthening a key area of the team for three reasons. 1. We can't support in a squad of 25 with three places allocated to RW alone. 2. Keeping both means money is tied up in them that is needed due to PSR to buy that improved RW. 3. Keeping both and signing a new RW creates a blockage in our development pathway so promising attacking midfield/wingers from the youth teams would struggle to get any minutes as there would be 3 senior players all competing for the same (limited) minutes. One has to go even if that is a player I like for below their market value.
  21. OK time to pivot. Go for the cheaper CB, Thiaw for example, and go for a blockbuster RW.
  22. I think will get a CB and a RW. But one will be a blockbuster signing the other a project player like Osula but more first team ready. So if we get Guehi the RW will be the project signing. If the offer is turned down will get someone like Thiaw and a RW who is an instant first teamer.
  23. Nah, just got his head screwed on. I mean would you rather live in Liverpool or San Sebastian?
  24. I felt he was terrible for the team without being terrible himself if you know what I mean. He was solid defensively and tried to offer an outlet. He was always trying to make himself available. However as many, many others have said the combination of him at left back and a LWF who always sought to cut in ruined our width on that side. Also that he is so one footed (I hadn't noticed this before) killed our momentum so many times. Again as others have said none of this was his fault but the manager's who set up the team like this.
  25. Given that Hall, Burn, Kelly, Targett and Trippier are all ahead of him, I don't think we have to worry too much about that!
