  1. As pointed out by @jack j in another thread, Sky offering 9/4 for Paqueta to still be at Lyon at the end of this window. Ridiculously we’re 11/10 to sign him. I know Arsenal (6/1) have been tenuously linked but the only real threat I can see to that 9/4 is Man City (7/1), but that will require De Jong to leave Barca, then Bernardo Silva to go to Barca, and then City to actually want him.
  2. Bizarre given how innocuous it seemed at the time
  3. Wood was an overpriced, emergency signing, borne out of the fairly desperate predicament we found ourselves. Having watched the Cambridge game, I don’t think it’s too outlandish to say his presence transformed our performance levels, simply through his physicality and tactical understanding (yes, obviously initially Trippier and later Bruno also had massive impacts) He might not really be suitable for what is required now, but if £25m was the price of staying in the PL, he was absolutely not a “bad, bad signing”.
  4. 9/4 is a ludicrous price given what someone will have to cough up to get him
  5. £40m!? Are we sure Charnley isn’t negotiating their transfers? ??

    Lee Charnley

He’s probably a perfectly capable admin guy. It would be a sensible appointment that would barely warrant comment, had Ashley not made him CEO of fucking everything NUFC-related.
  7. Should be no issues getting a ticket with it being midweek
  8. On sale dates for October’s home games now released. Details in the Tickets forum.

Got a league cup game in two and a half weeks. Ideal for his first start unless Howe fancies switching formation against Man City?
  10. Dan Burn left Newcastle when he was 11 man ?
  11. N-O prior to the transfer window: ‘We need to be sensible with how we approach things, not just go on like Everton and balls it all up’ N-O during transfer window: ‘JUST PAY THE FUCKING MONEY’

  13. And he pissed off in a heartbeat and we all begrudgingly accepted he was probably right to do so. And would you look at us now….
  14. This is brilliant and the kind of thing supporting a team should be about. Hope you have a great day.
  15. About my favourite chant. Dunno why? Maybe the randomness of it.
  16. Sell him this summer and you probably get somewhere in the region of £50m, give or take. Next summer it’s half that. If you think he’s worth £25m to you this season then you keep him. If you think you could use that £50m to bring in someone that’ll improve you for the next 4-5 years, you’ll probably sell him. Two years left on a contract is always tricky.
  17. But the question is still are you willing to drop ~£25m on Maddison not signing a new contract? (obviously it’s total conjecture at this point whether he will or won’t, could just be his agent prepping for negotiations)
  18. If true, the fact that he’s allegedly keen and only has two years on his contract definitely works in our favour. Doesn’t sign a new contract and they get substantially less than £40m next year or nothing in two years. And sounds like that isn’t really a viable option for them in their current financial situation.
  19. I think one of the biggest problems you’ll have in getting people to bring their own flags is the potential hassle they’ll get when leaving the ground. We’ve all seen the social media photos and vids of people walking out with flags, which have obviously been helpful on the whole, as it’s mainly been folk taking your flags. I don’t really know how you get round that tbh. Guess you just hope that the natural evolution of things is that fewer and fewer people take your flags ??‍♂️

Think ‘tricky’ might be an understatement…
  22. He’s got 24 goals in 53 for Germany. I know you play the occasional pub team in qualifying, but you don’t have that kind of record in international football if all you can do is run fast.

Yeah, I’d agree with what @LFEE said. You should be able to get a parking spot in town, especially with it being a Sunday. I don’t take the car in often now, but if I did I’d probably go for Railway St by the Arena. About a 20 min walk to the ground but free and usually quick enough to get away.
  24. Look at what we’ve been quoted for various attacking players. We’d have to really, really want rid to let him to go for that kind of price.
