Same at this moment in time. As time passes, I could see myself coming round to B in future seasons. Perhaps. Maybe.

Which would you choose: A) Liverpool winning league and having all round excellent season but Isak fails miserably not scoring a PL goal, considered one of the worst transfers in history. B) Liverpool don’t win a trophy and miss out on CL qualification, resulting in Slot’s sacking, but Isak bangs in 25+ and wins Golden Boot.

Of course, from a vindictiveness point of view, we want the whole lot. But if given the choice between team success and personal failure, or team failure and personal success, I reckon the majority would go for option one. Not that it’s ever likely to be that clear cut.

I think in this particular instance, whilst a lot of people want to see Liverpool fail, due, mainly, to how things went this summer, it’s not really about that. It’s personal towards Isak. If you gave many the option of Liverpool winning the league, but Isak barely contributing, and being considered a flop, that would probably be accepted as a palatable outcome.

It’s difficult to argue against that viewpoint, but at the same time, English teams have only won 3 out of the last 13 CL. Now that may be because other leagues have been completely bastardised to allow an extremely small handful of teams the realistic possibility of winning the CL, but nevertheless, at this point we’re yet to see ‘English domination’.

The playoff round is traditional seeding (9 v 24, 10 v 23 etc), but then the last 16 gets a bit more complicated to try and give the higher finishing teams an advantage. i.e 1st plays the winner of 15th v 18th, to ensure they can’t play anyone finishing higher than 15, whereas 8th plays the winner of 9th v 24th, so they could actually end up with a much easier draw than 1st, but if it goes to form they should have a harder draw.

Have say that from the Leazes, tonight’s banner was by far the most visually clear of all the ‘wordy’ banners. I know it was maybe shorter and more concise than other banners, which helped, but size and font wise, it definitely looked clearer.
