Quality vision from Kane ?

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
Away Day Gadgie replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
I think that's a big part of his problem at the moment. He still hasn't scored this season but he's come very close on a number of occasions and it's probably playing on his mind. He gets visibly frustrated during the game so i could imagine him being the type of bloke who puts more and more pressure on himself the longer it goes on. I wouldn't be surprised to see him hit a screamer soon and his form pick up almost instantly. -

It's quite sad to see how many fans have turned on him. He was instrumental in our promotion season and as far as i'm aware he still has the most assists for us this season. His form has been poor lately but you can't fault the lad's workrate and commitment so i'd like to see people get behind him and help him turn his form around. If James Perch could do it then surely Ritchie can!? At worst he's a grafter who CAN produce a moment of quality and at best he's player who can be involved in 12-15 goals over the course of a season. He's a lot better than he's showing at the moment IMO and he'd certainly benefit from having more quality around him. -
McClean was to blame for that goal. His attempt at blocking was pathetic. Pards was actually right in asking for another player in there as the wall was not quite wide enough to cover most of the GK's left handside. Can't comment cos i haven't seen it but, the goalkeeper is the best placed person to know how many he wants in his wall IMO. I can't really think of another occasion when a manager has overruled his goalkeeper, probably for that exact reason.

He seemed to be clicking his jaw repetitively at one point. He might have a tic disorder/mild Tourette’s (which seems more likely than being coked-up). P.S. or he’s in training for a gurning comp... he’s not Cumbrian is he?? I hadnt actually thought of that. I hope not or i'll feel a bit bad for laughing at him. I just assumed it was some sort of nervous habit.

He pulls some weird faces during the game. He looked like he'd been snorting cowies at times yesterday

Which Pardew then spun into a story which insulted his assistant manger for being outdated in order to paint himself as a modern, progressive manager. Yeah. Aye! He's such a weasel.
-
So basically Ben Foster told his defenders how many he wanted in his wall, Pardew then stuck his nose in and they ended up conceding with McClean getting the blame?

Jamaal Lascelles (now playing for League One Leicester City)

The difference in the side when he's not there is frightening! We need to sign a couple of leaders in this window, not just a couple of decent players. That's gona be difficult! -
I always think goal difference is quite a good way of reflecting where a team "should" be during the middle of the season. Looking at the table, i think we're in a fairly true position. We might lack quality and fire power up front, but we have a good manager who knows how to get results to counteract that. A few decent signings in the right positions and we'll be fine i think.

Apart from the obvious Beardsleys and Shearers etc, i always liked Ketsbaia. He was a bit "head down, run and shoot" but he played in a crap, negative team and always seemed like the guy who wanted to make something happen. A bit like Ben Arfa come to think of it, but with a lot less talent. I'm sure i read an interview from Sir Bobby about when he decided to let Ketsbaia go and he was worried about breaking the news to him cos he knew he'd take it badly. Apparently he was devatastated cos he loved it here and bounced his mobile phone off the dressing room wall bless him -
Hope he doesn't go - Liverpool are class to watch with him in the side. Just watch Barca instead. They've got some canny players aswell

Interesting team. Perez played his best football for us as a striker in his first appearances IMO. Let's see how he does. I'm hoping Ritchie is used through the middle with Atsu and Murphy out wide, i think we'd be a lot more productive that way. -

Yeah, I’m getting the feeling that today will be a disaster as well. Just checked our recent record there, we've lost the last three 1-0 and havent got anything there since Demba Ba's hat-trick in 2011. A result like that today would be massive for us. -

This absolutely feels like the type of game where one of our players will stupidly get sent off in the 1st half, or give away a ridiculous penalty. Or Stoke will score a goal that was about 2 yards offside. Pretty sure this is almost always a miserable fixture for us. I reckon Shelvey and Diame will come in for this one, probably Manquillo aswell. Not sure what else Rafa will do but there's bound to be a few surprises. -
Boom! ? Nowt more needs to be said.
