Perhaps Jose has a point with his 'heritage' rant

Barcelona, Bayern, Juve & Liverpool into the semis imo.

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition
Infinitely Content replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
He's been pretty good in a back 3 to be fair to him. Got it, he's more of a fullback, traditionally but plays in the back 3. Aye played well last match. --- More broadly you could probably put a rolling paper between Tarkowski, Mawson and Lascelles this season and all will probably struggle more not playing in a defence focused side. Agreed. Out of curiosity, do you consider Maguire to be better or worse than that group then? -

Looking at the likes of Livermore & Cook, you can't blame someone for wondering why the far more talented Shelvey isn't in there, but it's all a bit meh really isn't it. Southgate probably has a defensive approach in mind and doesn't see Shelvey as someone who fits that as well as Cook for instance (although I disagree). It's good to see Tarkowski in though, could have just as easily have been our captain but either way it's good to see a lesser known lad who hasn't been involved in past England setups included -
Can't say I'm too fussed about it personally, I haven't genuinely supported England since I was a kid. They're just boring. Don't suppose Jamaal is overly worried about it either, he seems to the type of character that would be fired up by being left out.

Tough to agree with what looks like wild, aimless swinging of batons towards no specific target. Just looking at the video anyway.

I reckon if we brought in anyone who is worse than Dummett defensively, we would miss him straight away and he would be back in the 11 pretty quickly. Can't help but feel we'd have to spend an amount we won't be in the game to spend to get a full back who can attack but is also as good as Dummett going on the other way. The way he has played this season I'm not sure we need a replacement, a backup certainly, but I think we should be looking to put funds in other places than left back.

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Postecoglu told to rack off by Spurs
Infinitely Content replied to cp40's topic in Football
Thank god we've had Rafa for a few years now otherwise we would likely have had a seat on the not-so-merry-go-round. -
Updating Chrome solved any issues I was having with lag on the forum particularly when writing posts. If anyone is running a version earlier than 65.0.3325.146 and is experiencing issues, updating it should sort it all out

Alright Farage, calm down.

If Mitrovic had scored that goal I'd never question his finishing again. I realise it was probably a one off, but f*** me any striker would love to have scored that. Demba Ba scored a couple similar to it. He was really good at making something of long balls forward, he got a great one against Norwich iirc. For a winger to come inside and do it is quite rare probably, testament to his physical attributes as much as his skill. When you say that about Ba, immediately thought of his goal v Man U, the way he adjusted to put it away. I realise this has nothing to do with kenedy or his goal just a good memory It was great Ridiculous mix of anticipation, confidence and technical ability. Sure Lindegaard was on a long run of clean sheets before Ba beat him comfortably with that'n as well. One of the best games I've been at that was

I'm on it. Will be complete with earth shudders & explosions as he crunches into tackles.

Ayozé Pérez (now playing for Villarreal)
Infinitely Content replied to ponsaelius's topic in Football
Respect to Ayo for getting out there and putting in so much effort for the team in difficult circumstances. Means a lot that, shows a very strong mentality. -
... Let's not get carried away now I know, I know. I by no means think he's as good obviously, he's just playing that sort of role for us at the moment really effectively.
-
The way he seems to just ease players off the ball and carry it away is bafflingly good compared to where he was at before. Comparing his current form to the likes of Kante when he first arrived isn't even a million miles off which is crazy really.

It's probably going to be one of those seasons where by the last weekend many teams could still either be relegated or finish like 12th/13th. Sure that happened to us under Pardew one year where we flirted with relegation all season and ended up finishing 13th or something.
-
Loves Tynemouth does Ayo.

His second goal (I think) was an absolutely crushing finish like. He still looks like an u16s player playing with the grown ups, but he's doing the business like. We should let him leave to Southampton when they go down, for him then to sign for Blackburn, win the league with them and make his way back here afterwards. Seems to work a treat.

What a glorious sentence that is. 10/10 would read again.

They still have Fulham to play as well. Mitrovic gunning for them
