It’s time Shelvey’s critics took the fucking blinkers off and realised what he gives to us when he plays. It’s no coincidence we win more games than we lose when he’s on the pitch. People have been crying out for Shelvey to be dropped in favour of the Longstaffs - well I’ve not seen us put in a weaker central midfield display for years than today. Man Utd were there for the taking and we’ve made them look like vintage Barcelona. You might not like Shelvey but he is absolutely critical to us doing anything this season and probably the next few as well. Any other opinion is just wrong.

All on Bruce. Many people will have been happy to see the two Longstaff’s in the team. The fact they’ve not been good enough here is not Bruce’s fault ffs. Always convenient blaming Bruce, often not smart.

No because it doesn’t happen like that. He makes the odd mistake but he’s superb for 80-90% of the season. We would potentially be in the relegation zone without him, so I’d count ourselves fortunate.

When you see it written down like that, with the addition of Fede or Jamaal in the middle and Dubravka in goal, I genuinely think it’s one of the best back lines in the league.

He is. His defensive work is fantastic, tackles very calmly and cleanly, positioning is spot on, he’s fucking rapid and he uses the ball very intelligently. Right back spot is his. Don’t want to see him out of the team. The last 3 or 4 times he’s dropped out for Yedlin he hasn’t deserved to be left out. Arguably our most consistent performer.
