Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 Newcastle United (02/09/23)

Tonali into a well oiled unit isn't clicking at this point. Feels transitional rather than like for like. Touch of the Juninho at Boro about it. They added a luxury player into a well oiled machine and fucking it up and capitulated. They were ran by idiots though, we aren't. -

Lost about 8 games a season on average under Keegan and about 14-15 a season under Sir Bobby. Going on like this after every defeat now will look about as good as it would have then. Wasn't the consensus 5th to 7th this season? - people realise that entails losing plenty of games surely? What's wrong with having a bad game. Instead most of our players being generally shit. That being the case why be surprised at Brighton? Shit teams tend to lose at good ones. -

Probably heard about the bed wetting from that 360 twitter account that got a lot of air time and thought to check it out. Unfortunately many of our fans live up to expectations in that regard. -

Got beat at home by Wimbledon four days before we beat Barcelona. -
Dont know/care if he is injury prone or its been one long injury but generally I suspect such players (Dyers and Woodgates) are anathema to clubs in the FFP age. Taking up squad places and guzzling a salary. Suspect this was as much a factor in selling ASM as anything else.

League Cup 3rd Round Draw - NUFC v Man City on 27/09 @ 8pm (live on Sky)

Bare in mind there's not a cat in hells chance we play our first team. -
No. Finished 7points behind. Dropped points in another 19 games. bed wetters could have filled their boots that season, then have the temerity to celebrate being in the CL by the end. Plus were not going for the league this season. Then we were. And there was less bed wetting.
-
Were not you guys. Shit still happens to the rest of us. We lost to ten at home to Arsenal under Keegan. A year later we were beating Barcelona in the Champions League and they were getting turned over by some Greek team in the UEFA cup. Shit happens but can also work out thereafter.
-
That plus some of our non-new fans seem to have forgotten how to take defeats at a growing club perhaps too. Which is why I'm not vexxed. Been kicked in the balls that much like this but not always with the knowledge were going places and getting better all the time. Third home game of 96/97 we lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wed for a second defeat (to two shit teams) in three games. Finished 2nd. No cause for bed wetting then much less now, pisser though it is.

It was a classic keep it tight and go for broke late on tactic that paid off. Sir Bobby with Glass, Lua-Lua and Cordone introduced against Man U when it was 0-1 springs to mind. Unlike then they could easily have been long since beaten by that point. Keegan lost to ten men at home to Arsenal. Shit happens. Some of our fans reactions to any setback remain the most disappointing thing for me. Were going to lose on average six-ten games a season even as a good team - so will everybody else bar Man City.
-
Thought the same thing. Forgot how many there were until the goal and the first noise the majority of them made all game. Must be a hard life not being guaranteed wins.
-
Suppose things like this help (not that it matters to this bloke but they're 18th 3points off second bottom)
-
Similar has happened before (Japan, MLS) and were curiosities more than anything. The English league was probably the most or second most watched in the world courtesy of the Scandinavian/Benelux/Asian markets before the Premier League without having the worlds best players. Whilst selling its best players to Italy, France and Germany. Its not about the world best players. The established league's themselves are a bigger draw.

Cant blame him having been pissed off with the same lack of support and humility on display from some of our fans. Should be embarrassed but having seen it last season when we didn't win I've not witnessed any compunction about that.

Defacing the pub has been unanimously approved of on their thread, many calling for the same again and bricks in future. Cant relate living in a 50-50 area the admittedly paltry occasional SAFC displays have never seemed to bother much less enrage people and I've watched NUFC matches in the Ashley era in bars rammed with Newcastle fans that are named after the fact they're literally situated on the bank of the river Wear (they're on about territory and rivers dictating them again) and closer to Sunderland than CLS without a raised eyebrow, is just a normal occurance. Afraid to say their iron clad territories outside of Sunderland were breached long ago, if they ever existed to begin with. Why get tetchy now ? Rattled cunts.

Newcastle United vs. Liverpool: 27/08/23 @ 16:30 (Sky Sports)
Wolfcastle replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Because many of our players are apparently shit again according the match day thread, will that mean it'll ease off on the criticism of them against another good team and appreciate their efforts, or will they be getting slaughtered all over again if all doesn't go well - a week out from the champions league draw they earned.. Cos I can guarantee at the very best there will be points in the game where were second best and at least appear not to be playing well and that it doesn't mean were not a good team. -
Its no mystery why our play and players aren't doing well in this game. I think/hope that's the root of the ire.
-
Absolutely. This is on them not us. No team goes there and doesn't appear 'sloppy' or like they 'haven't turned up' at times. Its not a massive coincidence its because they're the best.
-
oh and up yours Taggart
-
Unimpressive as fuck again Man United. There's easily four better teams, not that that manifests for them they're so jammy
-
He's not a c*nt so probably be seen as not cut out for either job.
-
Still got all mine. Knew they'd come back into fashion. The Ginola name and numbering wont even need explaining away.
-
Yeah its terrible when a rich dodgy links overseas owner buys a club and your club has a competitor isn't it Chelsea fans? Incidentally this is our first Champions League qualification since 2003 when we were becoming a mainstay (behind only Man United and Arsenal) but unfortunately finished 5th in 2004. On a totally unrelated note that was the year Abramovich rocked up.

Is the Argentine cup match between Colon v Lanus a shit game?
