  1. He probably did, its just ITV didn't have the rights to the PL or FA Cup and whose watching the mackems against Grimsby or Boro against Luton when Super Sunday's on one side and Football Italia on the other.
  2. Jo rocking that Argentina 78/Shawn Michaels special guest referee look again
  3. It was the early indirect free-kick given to Leeds that they scored from. Didn't notice that sperm headed c*nt that day.Remember Shola tearing Rio to bits though.
  4. Cant tell if there's a subtle Elliott, Bicycle, phone - E.T allegory to that comment or if its a massive coincidence.
  5. This is just me, but a fullback (e.g.) running past a winger being referred to as 'overload' makes my skin crawl. Used to think it was just Mick Lowes but apparently not. I know what they mean but I'd know what they meant by 'Simpson on the kitkat on the outside' doesn't mean it makes any sense. Am sure it used to be the far more preferable 'overlap'
  6. Lots of reasons, Chris-R and Hovagod above make great points and that Leeds game was a quality example, early goal against via dodgy referee decision, injury hit and underdogs to begin with which is where I was going - adversity. When we feel the team need us. The cliched 12th man. The game I immediately thought of was Sheffield Wed first day 97/98, new suspect team, no Shearer, dodgy pre-season, without saying it, it started and we all showed we felt that way, the best performance under Dogleash kept it stoked too. Barcelona the same a few weeks later. Whereas Sheffield Wed and Metz the previous season was not like that. Though under Keegan the atmosphere was usually at least very good despite having games in the bag at times, I put that down to the 'entertainers' unrelenting attacking football style where possession based modern dominance has the opposite effect
  7. Sunderland's last home attendance before 1992 was 14,000. Yet the myth goes we stole three times as many fans from them as they were actually getting. Not a stat but 31 teams in English football have played more games in Europe. Would have been more but Wimbledon, Coventry, Oxford and Luton were barred. Look on their massiveness and weep.
  8. Look forward to some booing of him in Europe competition in the near future. If he makes it.
  9. One of those was even since the war. Football wasn't invented in 1945 yi na
  10. Keegan era vibes about the squad morale. Ha, actually I just got a bit nervous thinking about that a few minutes ago. Pressure on against a newly promoted side etc. Its all good though. Being nervous about games a month ahead of time. The feel is a mix of first day against Spurs 93 and Charlton 98.
  11. Its not really about Sunderland though. Almost all the comments are about them obsession over and lying about us. Hardly any of us would know a single one of their players if they knocked on our front door. Infatuation? Its wouldn't even be interest but for the constant lies about us - like in life, some irrelevant f*ck tells lies about you, it bothers you, doesn't mean they mean anything.

    Footy trivia

Batty for Leeds twice too. Can't believe people think he was rubbish.
  13. "hell is the impossibility of reason"
  14. Mag on there says we were regularly in Europe in the 14years before Ashley Mackems say this wasn't the case Mag produces chart showing 94/95 96/97 97/98 98/99 99/00 02/03 03/04 04/05 06/07 (9 out of 14) we were (not even including the Intertoto) Mackems switch to 'you cant use selective 14years' (even though its the most relevant) and ask 'what about the 14 years before the 14 years before Ashley' which includes the Heysel ban on English clubs and would otherwise include European football anyway.
  15. If you watched that clip in reverse I bet it would look like evolution in action. Some creature coming out of the sea, scraping along on its arse then learning to stand and finally walk. Then I realised that's ridiculous, a silly thing to think and post as how could it be considered evolution if the end product is Bruce.
  16. Wonder now if the reason I cleaned up at sports days and was moaned at by the head teacher to let someone else win getting self-conscious about winning (thanks c**t by the way), in hindsight is because I was doped up to the gills being asthmatic. Really ought to return the ribbons and chewits.
  17. Maybe the picture is the only thing thats straight. He makes a living off videos like that?! This forum needs to get on the tube.
  18. She-Ra supports us. Record goal scorer iirc.
  19. Ashley was making us like them. Nothing else to dream of except finishing higher/beating them (whichever means they're better at the time). He gave them relevance by stiffling us into their orbit when 2years in 15 or 5 in 20 apart we hadn't been. No wonder they love him. That's all they want and have ever had. Our being stiffled is pretty much them in decent times whereas their stiffled is Division3. Mackem I worked with knew the score, referring to him as "the best thing that never happened to us", they're just so warped, actually crazy when it comes to NUFC that they cant see the only reason they think he was good is because he was bad for us, if he was good (like Hall) they'd hate him. Its crazy on top of crazy.
  20. "bonjour monsieur Ginola...welcome to the Toon"
  21. Tim Henman used to train at Wimbledon in a Newcastle shirt in the mid-90s. Anybody know the story there? Got the pictures somewhere, think it was the 95-97 one, I suppose who wouldn't wear that.
  22. Planes, training and autoerotic-asphyxiation - the story of the Toons summer of 2022.
  23. Dont care who anybody votes for if they're good people, so what if someone prefers cola to pepsi. The other side, the other party isnt scum and the moral high ground doesn't belong to you because of the way you vote. Its a preference not a case of right or wrong. Its political bigotry and grandstanding really, being predisposed to disliking or demonising someone because they vote differently to us. The whole thing is mostly bullshit theatre anyway scenery for the public. Apolitical people have it cracked for me. Anyway, re Diaby and anybody else, whatever their percieved flaws, I'm just so impressed with what Howe and co have done that its not like we'd be getting a finished article anymore and the player can be improved on and that the capacity to improve is something we'll likely be factoring into our scouting now.
  24. If I couldI'd upload the video of Newcastle and Bilbao fans getting on famously in 94, documented by Futbol Mundial no less, to drive them up the wall Their fans ran over to ours to applaud us at the end and months later I could see Newcastle shirts being worn at Bilbao games on DSF.
