I've been thinking that us finally clicking might well have to involve his own goal run drying up a bit. His role in that 3rd was 🤌

    Nick Pope

Delighted for him, that was a bit of a redemption arc from the one against Arsenal that went badly. Love Nick Pope me, warts and all. Well done to him for also having an amazing sense of humour and immediately smashing his next goal kick out for a throw.
  3. All about on how he takes this into the league I think. Great performance and as it's been for a while, it's about whether he can do it at that level or around that level consistently.
  4. Missing an open goal aside he was really solid. Nothing fancy but that's what you want sometimes.

I'm not used to having a player who tries the fancy one time flick stuff regularly but also see it consistently done to perfection. Haven't made noises watching one of our players like this since a certain French right winger was here.
  6. No more than we deserved. The moment that second one went in we went from the nervous, hanging on Newcastle side we've seen this season, into the one we've known well for the last 4 years, with its mojo back, and looking like we could have scored 5 or 6. Really hope that that's the turning point for us. You could see the flow of the football at the end really coming together there. The league is a different kettle of fish, but you can only take positives from that. Thought Benfica were utter garbage tbh, every worry I had in that match was down to our own sloppiness and that familiar nervousness creeping in. Ref was also predictably shite. Pope: 8 Trippier: 6 Thiaw: 7 Botman: 7 Burn: 7 Miley: 7 Bruno: 8.5 Ramsey: 6.5 Murphy: 7.5 Woltemade: 7.5 Gordon: 9 Joelinton: 6.5 Barnes: 8

Football? Completed it mate. He absolutely cheeses it now.
  8. Biggest thing to overcome seems to be our own sloppiness. Possibly because we're playing passes on autopilot without everyone being on the same wavelength yet. Think they've been shite tbh, diagonals and direct balls over the top and relying on LukƩbakio, who has been very threatening. Otherwise the standard Jose attempted shithousery and it's only 1 nil because we're just not right yet. Bruno's been good in a more advanced role, Murphy good, Gordon good, Woltemade good, but not a huge amount of cohesion and really missing overlapping fullbacks.
  9. We're witnessing the first Marradi Gras in about 10 years.
  10. My lass is hoping to make up for her embarrassment from the weekend and is saying 3-1 to us. If she's wrong I'll never post about it again.
  11. No one (Disallowed Rob Lee aside) scored from the halfway line? In my mind Ryan Taylor's goals against us for Wigan were from miles out as well.
  12. Don't even know why I'm describing that last bit like we don't all feel the same.
  13. More no than yes I think. Isak is a far better all-round footballer than Cole was and doesn't need to (and probably isn't being asked to) work on his all-round game to the extent that Cole, particularly without Beardsley had to before it finally clicked at Man United. Isak is much more plug and play if that makes sense, they don't need to change him. Until last season, Isak also wasn't anywhere near as much the focal point of our goal threat as Cole was. With Cole it also pretty much got to the point where he was a certified flop, a bit of a donkey, even though annoyingly they still won trophies while he wasn't performing. There was the feeling that he was just an out-and-out finisher who had benefitted hugely from Beardsley's genius and us focusing just on his finishing. With Isak he might have to adapt a bit, but I can't see it being because there are parts of his game he hasn't developed yet. We'll see, but I don't think any of us are expecting his poor form to last to the end of this year, let alone the 2 or so years it took Cole to come good. It would be incredible if that happened or he had a career-ending injury in the meantime though. Non-football cuntery aside, he's the only player in my 30 odd years of being into football that I've had that level of disgust and animosity towards and who I've ever willingly wanted to see their career end catastrophically. He's a special case.
  14. There's a JLA video on it. Basically they have 4 players (Wirtz, Ekitike, Ratman, Gakpo) whose main strengths are picking up the ball in that inside left channel, in space, while Salah on the opposite side doesn't track back and doesn't suit the other players. Would love nothing more for the entire thing to be a complete disaster and for it to never work. Their starting forward line should probably be Gakpo, Ekitike, Chiesa, but it seems like they'd rather save face with their big name players/signings than do what's most effective.
  15. Teams are setting up differently when they play the current champions who spent half a billion on strengthening their team in the summer compared to when they play Fulham at home. Someone get Poirot on the phone.
  16. It's not even a take, the forum is just a series of posters doing their own* gimmicks. *TBG's
  17. Tbf Dyche isn't exactly that much of a step down, if at all, from Nuno and his shite style. Forest are basically resetting with Dyche, looking to stay up, and then going again next season.
  18. What an utter fucking bellend.
  19. That forum of their's sums them up. Multiple posters telling a club legend that's in their all-time XI to fuck off. All while doing the whole moralising and YNWA shit. Incredible how much they're the Israel of football.
  20. Judas Isakriot and Fraudrian Auschwirtz for a combined £240m is looking funny at the moment.
  21. Liverpool were also shit last season.
  22. Last game of last season was 1 of 2
