  1. That flag is so bad I'd possibly prefer the Saudi flag tbh
  2. Just wondering, regardless of the relatively few games that some of our current players have played for Newcastle, are there any who get into your all-time XI? For me Trippier's a no brainer, he's been the most transformative signing in my life time and was comfortably the best RB I've seen play for us after only about 20 games. The next 2 in line are Pope and Bruno imo. Pope's only behind Given on quantity - Given was unreal and was for a long time, but was never as good as Pope's been so far this season. Bruno's still behind Lee on quantity and consistency. Solely on this season alone I think Schar and Botman are knocking on the door as well.
  3. Just reading it now, at Ajax his teammate couldn't find his number 7 shirt so Cruyff gave him his number 9 shirt and picked out a spare which just so happened to be 14. They won the match and he kept the number. Henry wanted 12 at Arsenal but couldn't get it so went with 14. Both of them making the number iconic was pure luck. For me it's all about Ginola though, it was a meaningless number until I loved him.
  4. Cruyff, Ginola, Henry solidified it as a number for that area of the pitch for me.
  5. The acceptable starting numbers are this imo: GK: 1 RB: 2 LB: 3 CB: 4, 5, 6 CM: 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 LW: 7, 10, 11, 14 RW: 7, 10, 11 CF: 9, 10, 11
  6. There are more ex-Toon Ultra members on here than we thought
  7. LYRICS: (I was) looking forward to see you my friend We were closer than we’d ever been before An eleven made in heaven For the Gallowgate End We would finally find a way to bring it home And it felt like a Movie Everytime you put on your shoes No one brought the beauty To the beautiful game Like you That fur coat, big smile on your face, celebrations You had something for us all A glass of wine before the game, but on the field you came Poor Vickers is still looking for the ball And it felt like a Movie Everytime you put on your shoes No one brought the beauty To the beautiful game Like you All the colorful memories I don’t know, are they false or true? (I don’t care if they’re false or true) No one gave us the beauty Of the beautiful game Like you For days and weeks you would be gone The TSC knocked on the door to your home, where your father played the drum And it felt like a Movie Everytime you put on your shoes No one brought the beauty To the beautiful game Like you When I think of the memories I don’t care if it’s false or true No one gave us the beauty Of the beautiful game Like you
  8. Why have I never heard this before? Actually good as well
  9. Good shout! This thread has just reminded me of how incredible Our Velocity is, what a fucking tune.
  10. I know Paul Smith's a Smoggy and sounds like one, but The Coast is Always Changing is such a banger that I always associate with going home.
  11. Not necessarily explicitly about Newcastle, but songs that remind me of Newcastle, or by local bands that remind me of Newcastle or are class. Sam Fender: The Borders, Seventeen Going Under, Howden Aldi Death Queue Maximo Park: The Coast is Always Changing, Apply Some Pressure, Our Velocity Yourcodenameismilo: Understand Lindisfarne: Run for Home Dire Straits: Sultans of Swing, The Tunnel of Love Primal Scream: Movin' on up New Order: True Faith
  12. I seem to remember every commentator having to mention Tino's running style. Joelinton's remarkable transformation from zero striker to hero midfielder Eddie Howe's year out Tim Cahill: How good he is in the air vs his height Alex Ferguson in the stands: "and what must he be making of all this?/I'm sure he approves of that!" Loads of skillful French-speaking wingers - mercurial, even when they're not The insistance on calling every very good ball-playing centre back a Rolls Royce
  13. Who could have possibly seen that coming? I thought he was smarter than that tbh.
  14. Newcastle Uni should be taking down that famous alumni banner with the Castore owner's dish on it, they're a shite brand
  15. I know it's one of those overused phrases, but in cases like this the law really isn't fit for purpose. There are cases of people being charged for domestic abuse having done nothing, accusers being unable to drop the charges, and charges and cautions going ahead regardless, with people being put on lists that ruin their lives for years. Then this cunt is filmed raping and abusing his partner, there are photos evidencing it, and all charges are dropped.
  16. I tuned in at about 15 minutes, unless he was somewhere else before that, he was definitely playing centre forward.
  17. It's a 45 year old song, our time is over man
  18. Exactly. Every single thing mentioned in that post applies to the Man United ten fold. They pioneered selling their soul and Fergie is the biggest shithouse manager of all time, who defended his players and club to the hilt. They're blind or ignorant.
  19. It's honestly fucking hilarious to me how little they seem to know about their own club's halycon days. In their mind they obviously think they were playing like 08-14 Barcelona every weekend.
