  1. I don't mind Marsch, but there's nothing more stereotypically American than bringing up "how it's done in the States" completely unprovoked.
  2. Honestly, Potter was a fool to go to Chelsea and I can't see my opinion on that changing like.
  3. His pressing probably is better than Wilson's imo
  4. Absolutely no joined up thinking in their strategy either, literally just buy everyone.
  5. I have yeah, as I've read multiple convincing threads on why Messi or Maradona was the greatest. That's the nature of those threads. I was just dreading the inevitable coming debate over who's the greatest starting in here.
  6. I was really hoping stuff like this wasn't going to get posted
  7. Perez wound me up as a player when I'd accepted we were a club hanging around the Woops section of the transfer market. The idea of signing him when we have the option to snap up Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman level players just seems pointless.
  8. Used to watch Escape to Victory just for Pele because footage of him was so hard to come by, but the mythology around him was so big that you wanted to see as much of him as you could. Will forever be one of the big 3 contenders for the greatest of all time. RIP.
  9. Never thought of them as the same tbh. A 4 is Batty, Kante, Makelele A 6 is Pirlo Same position, different type of player. At least to me anyway
  10. West Ham 1-1 Brentford Liverpool 2-0 Leicester Wolves 0-2 Man United Bournemouth 1-0 Palace Fulham 2-1 Southampton Man City 4-0 Everton (double) Newcastle 3-0 Leeds Brighton 1-2 Arsenal Spurs 2-1 Villa Forest 1-2 Chelsea
  11. Think ASM's much better now tbh, he's just not as much of a focal point and has been unlucky with injuries
  12. You could have thrown another 500m at the squad with a different manager (see Everton, Aston Villa, Man United) and not bettered what Howe's done. Wouldn't swap him for anyone, having that connection with the manager is priceless imo and we love him don't we? And not only that, he's every bit a Newcastle manager. I loved Rafa to bits, but I couldn't have said he was truly a Newcastle manager on the pitch in the way Howe is.
  13. Similar to the Chelsea at home match, I'm in the Tobias Funke confidence man #2 cycle.
  14. Typical Guardiola bringing Cancelo on for 30 minutes when I've got Mitrovic sat on the bench with 15 points. Prick
  15. Hopefully Leeds are like this on Saturday, they've been shocking
  16. Grealish really is like Jonas in terms of always always getting decisions go his way when he's challenged
  17. I've noticed recently that he's attempting the same underlapping runs on the right that Henderson used to make for Liverpool as well.
  18. Nowt worse than enjoying a match only for Jorginho to come on and turn it into a borefest. As a neutral I really don't like him, bit he's an effective player to bring on.
  19. There was an especially bad period from 04 to 08, but tbh it wasn't until under Hughton that I ever felt we had a back 4 that could be relied upon and until Rafa that I thought we had a good one. I was never confident about us at the back even under Keegan or SBR.
  20. Intense, aggressive, stubborn and relentless
  21. Woodgate was unbelievable, if he'd stayed fit there would very much have been the argument for him to be playing alongside Rio Ferdinand for England instead of Campbell and then Terry, he was comfortably at that level. Botman's not there yet but it doesn't really matter when he's probably already done more in a Newcastle shirt due to Woodgate's persistent injuries.
  22. Agree that much more should be made of The Blaydon Races being a signature song for us
  23. Champion and Shearer's craic is lifting
