Our last league game saw Eddie and co. pull level with King Kev for total number of top flight games managed (Premier -ship and League). Looking at the relative performance gives lie to the accepted wisdom that Keegan's teams couldn't defend and were our most free-scoring in living memory. In their 162 top flight league games, Keegan's teams conceded 30 fewer goals than Howe's; and Howe's teams scored 12 more goals than Keegan's. No surprise then that Keegan has the better goal difference, by 18. KK also has, more importantly, the better points per game with 1.76 (1.85 in his first spell) versus Howe's 1.69; still our second best in Premier era.
