I think that this week will define our window. We may never get to hear about the close calls, or the real enquiries, here’s hoping we get to enjoy some successful attempts.

Hadn’t planned to but decided to come up for the matches on Saturday. -
Love this!

According to this West Ham site (below) this afternoon, we’ve shown some interest in a central defender they are trying to sign. https://www.hammers.news/news/potential-disaster-for-julen-lopetegui-as-newcastle-move-in-to-hijack-key-west-ham-deal/

Might just have to join you. Ballots don’t like me. -

I couldn’t stand watching Des Hamilton. Though doubt he was our worst. -
2 more seasons and one trophy will do for me.

With you on Glenn ‘The Shuffle’ Roeder. Another favourite of mine and another (I previously mentioned Roy Aitken) great club captain; only for much longer. -
This seems key but (apols for ropey translation): Barış Alper Yılmaz, one of the architects of Galatasaray's last two championships, is leaving the yellow-red team. English teams compete with each other for the 24-year-old striker. There was a surprise development, especially while the Liverpool allegations were circulating. Newcastle's sports director Paul Mitchell came to Istanbul yesterday... today he will watch the Galatasaray-Besiktaş Super Cup final. It seems likely that he will make an offer for Barış Alper Yılmaz. Galatasaray's national star Barış Alper Yılmaz is a traveller to England... The current Newcastle United sports director Paul Mitchell, one of the teams that wanted him in April, came to Istanbul... it was claimed that the name that left AS Monaco at that time would first be the sports director of Fenerbahçe and then Beşiktaş. In fact, after the words of President Hasan Arat, it was taken very seriously. However, Mitchell became the sports director of Newcastle United from the Premier League teams in early July. The explosion experienced by Barış Alper Yılmaz in Euro 2024. Going to England for vacation. Here, allegations that he was in talks with teams such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa overlapped.

Who constructed the league last time?
-
He was a nice man. Took us on a tour of Joker Park (not a Sunderland fan amongst us…) and to England u15 internationals. Oh! And organised a penalty shoot out against some Sunderland players… Shaun Elliot did not comply with nee blasties rule!
-
Yep we need that for sure. But I’d be delighted to get him. From (little…) I’ve seen he’d definitely occupy defences/keep them wondering more than Miggy. Which, regardless of direct goal contributions, frees up space elsewhere. Off to do some Wise scouting.

In Eddie (&’Phil’) we trust.

Looks a player mind. A right handful. Thought he was great at the Euros—Austria game I think, or Dutch or both!

Epitome of a great captain and competitor. Was surprised Ossie got rid. Could have surely helped the masses of young uns he fielded. -
0 for 1, meu capitão. Could do better 😉

I know he was at the end of his career/in his thirties, but I really liked Roy Aitken. -
Really liked the look of him (and other one obvs) but can’t remember why!
-
Is this the one who played in the Euros with bleached blonde hair?

☝️ my old PE teacher/coach in that picture. Sadly, not Johan Cruyff (Richie Pitt).

After time to reflect, I thought there was some positives to take from the game. Liked sone of the movement and incisive passes over and through the middle; mainly first half. I was curious re what we’ve been trying structurally/positionally. Felt a bit ‘Foden-England’ish at times (fuck knows why he wants to try that like). With a wide player drifting more centrally (Barnes first half) to play more as a 10. Created a fair few opportunities (against a much slicker mid season side) just let down by final touch/bit of guile. Barnes in particular unlucky not to score. Tino and Hall were very high and were caught out a number of times. Not digging anyone out, but I thought Joelinton, Tino (last three games), Barnes (as mentioned) were all a bit off their game. Guess it is what pre-season is for. Was excited to see Harrison and Sanusi (after read about him when he was in Japan squad). Both showed occasional glimpses but, unlike others, I haven’t seen anything which justifies the excitement/hype yet. Also thought we really missed Little Joe/someone consistently progressing the ball through the middle. Biggest bonus was relief when Isak seemed to shake off absolute clattering by the ‘keeper. -
Too right. Time for the reasonable and nice majority to put aside local banter and stand together. Too many extremists conflate nice with soft. Can be a big mistake.
