Tough listen (on basis of first 20 seconds…).

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

Only strong memory of him is coming on as a sub at home against Sunderland. I desperately wanted him to make a difference (and trying to get a chant going for him) . He played really poorly. It’s not like he was particularly young at the time (23-24). I guess some players develop/blossom later. -
28 his year but other than that totally agree 👍Even though done very little to impress in the last seven years, he certainly looked like he had everything as a young player at Man City.

Could have, in a PSR free world, had Gordon, Palmer and Gibbs-White in the same side. I, for one, would definitely have been more interested in the England team in the future!

Prepare to take a bow @Jack27

Farewell Ryan, hope you continue to enjoy your playing career/making a difference.

Good spot that man! Not sure about your hit rate though, I’ve just read countless posts by you that we were nailed on to get: Victor Osimhen, Cole Palmer, Connor Gallagher, Phil Foden, Michael Olise and Rodrygo….(not really 😉).

I like stats, but (pre coffee) don’t really understand that. Are you basically saying he is good at creating opportunities to score for himself? Or something else?

I read Leonard Rossiter.

I’ve just heard a rumour (in my own head) that he may be Supemac’s grandson.

£25m quoted in January (when we were linked).

I do like a Scottish, Irish, English… Danish! I do like a good Danish midfielder.

It’s a good question, and I’m not sure; it probably depends on character/psychology is what springs to mind. It might be that with the right mindset and self belief, a keeper/player can put in the same kind of performance in front of one man and his dog as he can in front of the watching millions. There comes a point where he would have to prove that, but step one is being the best on the training ground. If/when he is he’ll get his chance.
-
Young as he is, he has big game/tournament experience. My guess is, as long as he looks good in training/performs well on the various goalkeeping exercises they routinely perform, then he will play if Pope is injured and may be used in cups.

Before the creation of Metropolitan boroughs in 1974, County Durham stretched from the river Tees to the Tyne and Derwent in the North. They’ve never been the, or the primary/main, football club of County Durham. Using this kind of reasoning we are the primary football club of ‘Tyne & Wear’. If you take into account more ancient history, their current location (and ours) were all part of the, much bigger, Kingdom of Northumbria. Plus, returning to modern day England. There are nine regions, the North East has the smallest population, circa 2.6m, and the capital city is Newcastle. I reckon NUFC should therefore be the ‘One North East’ Premier League football side. It would be nice if everyone else had second teams, Hartlepool, Gateshead, Darlington, Sunderland etc. but one day we may have all true proud North Eastern football fans rooting for their regional capital in the big league(s).

Love that! Wor Anthony making a brief cameo as well! (…and how young does Palmer seem!)

That first time still makes me smile. Cheered when his name was announced, think he must have come on as a sub, then booed when he touched the ball. I think even he laughed.

Iheanacho looked a phenomenal prospect as a young player with Man City. Really thought he would go to the very top of the game. 28 this year, and available on a free. His seven years at Leicester haven’t done anything for his reputation, but the fact he remains their second most expensive signing speaks to his potential. Think he could definitely do a job for us, but would imagine a signing like that would mean Wilson was staying. Doubt we’d risk only having him as ‘first team ready’ back up.
-
He’s talking to a guy from the States. So being ‘from’ Newcastle is near enough (born in Fatfield and went to school in Jarrow…even if he has dubious taste in football teams 😉).

We just need this to match with clubs’ ‘buy lists’. -
If Pope looks fully back, this makes perfect sense to me.

Start a threa… (too soon?)

If it was him vs Grealish decision, regardless of what Talk Sport (and guests) think, it’s obviously the right choice. Here’s to two player of the tournament gongs in a row 🤞

Now that, my friends, is a healthy attitude for a footballer to have towards his career.
