Or he goes and… no. I can’t even type it. That would finish off this saga like a cheap pulp fiction magazine story.

Last season, in PL, Brentford created 327 chances (15th most). We created 395 (8th most) so 1.8 more per game. Wissa scored 19 from open play (39 shots inside the box, 9 shots outside the box; 18.6 XG). Isak scored 19 from open play (38 shots inside the box, 8 shots outside the box; 20.4XG which seems to include the 4 penalties scored). Pretty similar in 2023-24. 413 (8th) for us and 325 (14th) chances created for Brentford. In short, we should create more chances for him than he has had previously and if we feed him, he will score.

Crude striker balance sheet: Paid £83m for Isak and Wilson (63 & 20). Received £125m. So +£42m Paid £120 for Woldemade and Wissa (65&55). So we are -£78m with whatever we receive for them to counterbalance that. So on these figures at present we are £40m in debit for Woldemarte (54% of £120m) and £32m in debit for Wissa (46% of £120m), which perhaps makes it a bit more palatable.

Sufficient strikers perhaps not so much our future.

It’s pretty galling though, build a squad you just think you have everything covered and they renege/pull a player back. He probably won’t start for them. Not sure if he was going to be a regular starter for you?
-
We buy, they loan. Even better.
-
Well, not really. Market value, taking into account contract length, has to influence what a ‘reasonable’ offer is. Fair market value is probably a better phrase, but it still has a deal of subjectivity in it also.

I really wouldn’t boast if that is indeed what you’re doing. Great win for you today and picking up 3 points at home against everyone you possibly can—like a toothless Brentford (you’re welcome 😉)—is going to be crucial to stay up. Still think you are very unlikely to do so and there will be significant misery ahead, particularly if you imagine the two wins from three sets the scene for the rest of the season.

Great for his confidence that he picked up MotM against those who displaced him. Find myself really pleased for him.
-
If he’s half the player I’ll be chuffed.
-
I was shitting it. Ekitike scoring Monday, Longstaff having a MotM performance, seemed nailed on the also much abused DCL would add more misery.
-
Terrible point considering how bad they are/looked. Appreciate we didn’t have Gordon (or the person responsible for the imminent closure of Gateshead IKEA) and a number of others pulled their guts out on Monday night—looked worn out and error prone—but that was a formation error. Eddie should rightly take the plaudits when we play well, but a 0.4 xg and 2 shots on target is a formation (and starting line-up) issue rather than a personnel available issue.
-
Both Bruno and Tino giving away chances in last couple of minutes because they’re wrecked.
-
I mean, of all players to come on at 0-0. I hex you DCL.
-
Both Bruno and Tino look done to me. Increased risk of injury4 please change.
-
Really missing Gordon and Elanga.
-
Even less…
-
Sub Bruno (knackered and ponderous) and Tripps (conserving his energy) put Ramsey in middle and Elanga on. Take Murphy off after 69 if not more involved and put Barnes on.
-
Have to be bolder against sides like these. Formation gives them too much respect.
-
Would rather see Trippier off. Just not contributing.
