  1. Full on fluid front line—five midfielders attacking like a swarm of hornets.
  2. Mmmm I am thinking you’re a lot younger than your name suggests BD; or there’s a whole load of music out there that could enhance your life.
  3. Couldn’t find an image from when he was playing (but apparently he used to try and spark-up on the bus to and from away games…) but this man tops McQueen (and the Ian Curtis) in the cool smoking images.
  4. Read that as Alan Shearer wasn’t ‘Alan Shearer effective’. My bad still got stream of heavy rock classics bouncing around my skull—after traumatic trip through Plane Spotting thread—currently Masters of the Universe by Hawkwind (canny tbf…).
  5. Wor Jorg picking up his Norwool jumpers?
  6. He was rapid pre injuries. Though take your point that he was still very effective afterwards/towards end of his career.
  7. Kin hell. Why has the plane spotter’s thread become home of the LSD flashback brigade?
  8. Christiano Ronaldo is the highest paid footballer/athlete on career earnings (estimated £207m). Apparently even he didn’t earn as much much as Matt Targett last year 🤷‍♂️
  9. I’d love to know what our central defenders would say on the topic of who is harder to play against Watkins or Isak (only in training obvs).
  10. Yep. So if we bid for Ekitike as an Isak replacement, as seemed most likely at the time all things considered, then it beggars belief that Liverpool fucked up their supposedly preferred signing 🤷‍♂️
  11. Forgot about the wages. *just checked ‘best sauce’ indicates £13m per year, so £1.08m per month or £250,000 per week (52 weeks). Goodness knows how they break that down though. Collymore’s recent statement about how Isak’s wages would probably be split was interesting—basically a hefty percentage of reported ‘weekly’ income being paid at end of particular periods of time or within loyalty bonuses and such malarkey.
  12. Fair points, but Osimhen is no more gone than Strand Larsen. Both permanently signed after successful loan seasons (£65m and £25.5m respectively). Both Galatasaray and Wolves could make substantial profit. However, neither team seem to have much in the way of back-up strikers: Icardi at Galatasary, who played 6 games more than Osimhen last season with some options of swapping in wingers, e.g. Sane. Situation at Wolves looks worse. Silva (is he back from Las Palmas loan?) Kalajdzic (was on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt), and three other ‘forwards’ who could potentially deputise (González—untested, López—newbie attacking midfielder—and Chirewa—also on loan last year). Neither team, looking at their squads, seem likely to be amenable to let a striker go. Plus, even if Osimhen fancied the big stage of the EPL, and Champions League, not sure he would fancy leaving the tax advantages of playing in Turkey. Noticed that Osimhen once played for Phillips Albert’s home town team of Charleroi and more memorably for Lille at the same time as a certain Loic Remy (but after Yohan Cabaye, David Rozehnal, and Mathieu Debuchy; but before Remy Cabella). On journey down that particular rabbit hole, saw a stat saying he recorded sprint speeds faster than Mbappe that season. Have I ever mentioned I so want him here?
  13. Thank you for this. It serves as a reminder of what can it feel like watching (the equivalent of) ‘a crazy lumbering Labradoodle try to pretend it’s a gun dog.’ Think I would rather have the frustrations of an absent specialist striker than the frustrations of an inadequate one.
  14. Watching that, he reminds me a bit of Edin Dzeko. In a kind of standard, solid centre forward type player that doesn’t massively excite but causes problems and does what he needs to do.

  16. Beat me to the punch (and thank you for doing so!)
  17. 🎵 Wor Jorgen’s not a German 🎵 anybody? Anybody?
  18. ☝️ there you go. Post fixed.
  19. Maybe they could open some doors for us. Win-win as they seem to see us as one of their feeder clubs.
  20. Well that’s confused the fuck out of me. Do tell… .
